Superb In Every Way!!

I've been an upright and electric bass player professionally for over 30 years and am new to the acoustic bass guitar concept. I had walked into a used music store here in Nashville and saw the 2nd tier version of the Guild B140e which is called the Guild B-240e and compared it to the Fender variant that was sitting next to it. I was amazed at the sound of it! Although no Guild basses are made in the USA their Westerly line which is made in China is impeccable!! It's my understanding that it is an actual Guild factory that they operate out of China with Guild tooling. I was so impressed with the B-240e I decided to buy the top tier version (B-140e) from Sweetwater.

The fit, finish and sound of the B-140 is that of a $4,000 USA made bass! Not one blemish or issue that I found on the bass. It comes with a very nice premium quality gig bag. The sound is very clear and evenly balanced which records well with a mic and the pickup does great in live settings. Solid African mahogany back and sides and solid sitka spruce while sounding nice now is only going to get better every year of it's aging process not unlike a finely aged wine! I am amazed that you get all solid wood construction, bone nut and bridge, rosewood fingerboard and arched back from Guild at this price point! I have to give a shoutout to my personal Sweetwater rep Dave Snow who has been my rep for many years and has given me nothing short of top quality service and expertise!! I love that Sweetwater goes thru the trouble of photographing each individual instrument so you can even pick the wood grain you prefer. Sweetwater is definitely my go to and Dave will always be my rep as far as I'm concerned.

The Guild Bass I’ve always wanted

Absolutely beautiful guitar! I've always wanted a Guild Acoustic Bass, originally a B30, but I never had the chance. Now the B-140e has the advantage of a full 34" scale neck, instead of the B30 30" scale. The longer scale seems to ring longer, and the bass tones are very deep. build quality is excellent. The gig bag is good quality, with very thick rigid padding, but I wish that Guild would make a hard case available. The balance with a strap is excellent, and its comfortable to play with a strap or seated. The Guild logo, Chesterfield emblem, and trademark pick guard shape give it that classic Guild look.
Music background: Lifetime amateur, and Worship player.

Guild B-140e

Great bass. The fit and finish is excellent. All solid wood and sounds and plays great. Comes with a nice gig bag. My second guild bass.

Absolutely stunning

This is a great bass. The tone unplugged and the unplugged is amazing. The Fit and finish are perfect. The action is very electric like. Super easy to play with a low action. Just add a small amp (I use a Markbass 1-8") for playing in an acoustic setting. Just a little bump in volume fills in phenomenally. I know a great bass when I see one as I own a Warwick Thumb neck through, a Pedulla Pentabuzz, Gibsons, Fenders, Rickenbackers, and Kubickis. You will not be disappointed. I wish it came with a hardshell case, which I would have been more than willing to pay for. However, the soft case it came with is quite nice and more than adequate for normal transit.

Guild B-140E Acoustic Bass Guitar

This guitar holds tune extraordinarily well which has been an issue with other acoustic bass guitars I've owned. The tone is excellent and I like the buzz free low action. The onboard electronics gives a player versatility and the soft side case offers excellent protection. I am very happy with this guitar and Sweetwater made it an easy transaction.
Music background: 20+ years as a bass player
