About this ebook

Ground Zero: The center or origin of rapid, intense, or violent activity

I carried her lifeless body out of a burning building.

One that collapsed on top of us, forcing us to fight for survival.

Where she gave her life so that I could live.

That nightmare wasn’t the happy ending I thought I’d find in the flames.

Turns out, it wasn’t our ending at all.

It was the beginning of our story.

The one where I fell in love without ever knowing her...

Or the destruction she would thrust into my path.

I have become a fan of this author and receive the ARCs of her books through BookSprout. The community in Birch has some appealing characters that have been developed into interesting stories in this small town in Maine. This book starts the new spinoff that focuses on the fire department, but we have met Josh in prior books as he was a state trooper. You do not have to have read the prior books, but you might want to if you enjoy this one. Josh and Nia meet as he is finishes up his job as a trooper and his moving into the fire department. At the same time, Nia is starting as a paramedic and happens to be at the same firehouse. Their chemistry is combustible from the beginning, and as they build a relationship, they are also hunting an arsonist. There are plenty of twists and turns as they continue this investigation. Another great series has started, and I cannot wait to continue the adventures of Birch Fire.

The author has given us an emotional story that pulls us into the lives of Nia and Josh and does not let go. The story keeps us turning the pages with fear, suspense, danger, steam and love. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

There is intense chemistry between Josh and Nia and I loved how they both have to move on from their pasts. There is some danger and the story moves quickly, which kept me glued to my screen.

About the author

She lives on the rocky coast of Maine, in the perfect place to visit the ocean but still live surrounded by the woods. Her son inspires her to write, demanding stories that he’s not allowed to read. As long as she has coffee, April can conquer the world… but she hates talking about herself in third person.
