Wait for Always

Rate this book
A stand alone brother's best friend romance about Ash Talmadge & Amelia Ballentine…

Ash Talmadge is everything I shouldn’t want.

My brother’s best friend. A too charismatic, too attractive Southern gentleman. And obsessed with someone else.

But she’s finally out of the picture. I put two years between their break up just to be sure. This is finally my chance.

His focus is all on me. Exactly where I wanted it to be since high school when he saved me from humiliation. And after college when he finally realized I was more than just his best friend’s little sister.

There’s only one person who could ruin this for me.

I’ve waited this long.

I’m willing to wait for always.

When I tell you I’m obsessed with this book! Wait for Always is Ash Talmadge’s book and I’ve been dying for this one. It was well worth the wait. Ash and Amelia were everything!

This story was about a couple that was truly meant to be, even though they had a bit of a bumpy ride to get to their final destination. It reminded me that sometimes things don’t work out as planned because there is something (or someone) better suited for you just around the corner. Or maybe they’ve always been there…

The perfect amount of angst, the perfect amount of romance, and the perfect hero. This one was a perfect read for me. It will for sure be on my top favorites list this year and it’s one I know I’ll re-read in the future.

Pining, second-best heroines are not my thing. He never chose her. She was more like the consolation prize since the one he always wanted didn’t want him, and he knew she (the heroine) would always be there for him, no matter how he treated her 🙄 But it kind of makes sense that she was a doormat. Her mother was, too.

Not my kind of characters. Not my idea of romance 🤷🏻‍♀️

5 stars!

I met Ash in Hold the Forevers and I hurt because of all the pain he went through. At the end of that book I was happy that Cole and Lila had their happily-ever-after but my heart broke for Ash because I loved him, too. Wait for Always is Ash’s story featuring the girl who has always loved him but could never have him. And she is exactly what he needs.

Ash and Derek have been best friends since youth and since Amelia is Derek’s younger sister, Ash has always been in her life. She has had feelings for him for what feels like forever but it was never the right time to tell him because Ash was always caught up in Lila.

Ash’s heart was obliterated when Lila chose Cole. He could never let his feelings go and would constantly run back to her whenever she and Cole weren’t together, only to get crushed again. And Amelia was always there for him. With the exception of one regrettable night, they had remained only friends but the endless drama with Lila finally takes a toll on their friendship. Will Amelia and Ash ever find their HEA or will always waiting for Ash finally break Amelia?

I desperately wanted Ash to find happiness after everything that went down in Hold the Forevers. I am not a fan of love triangles and I liked Cole and Lila together better than Ash and Lila because I knew there was someone meant just for Ash. And that person is Amelia. I adore her. She is a wonderful friend who always put others first. Her heart has been broken over and over again but she still remains a true friend to Ash. He is always part of her life and she waits for him and finally, finally they get their shot at both being happy!

It is not an easy journey. As I stated before, Ash broke her heart because he never could get over Lila. However, with Amelia’s support and time to heal, he is finally able to see what was always right in front of him.

“All I know is that I couldn’t look forward into my future for a long time. I was too bogged down in the past. And when I look forward now, all I see is you.”

When he finally falls for Amelia, Ash really turns on the swoon. He supports her and wants her dreams to come true. He puts his whole heart into loving her and I fell even harder for him.

I love how the story progressed. It went back and forth from past to present and I loved experiencing the moments that help Amelia and Ash find their way to each other. We get all the heartache that both Amelia and Ash individually feel and then we get their happiness and my heart burst. Nothing is easy about this journey but the pain is definitely worth it. I loved it!

K.A Linde always keeps me hooked and Wait for Always is no exception. Totally worthy of a no interruptions, read-all-day bingeathon!
I could t wait to read Ash’s story as he deserved his HEA. I was heartbroken for him , I was angry for him and upset that he just was stuck in the past…
The flashbacks help us to understand in a deeper level what Ash felt but also Amelia’s turmoil… being in love with her brother best friend.

K.A Linde always writes such beautiful stories about family, friendship and love like no other.
This one was full of raw human emotion- angst and love.

The characters were beautifully layered and complex... captured my heart.
Loved it!

when i started this i was kinda hesitant bc i at first skipped the first book honestly bc of the whole love triangle thing. i can never do it to myself😭 ash really went through it though and it really broke my heart for him!! i loved him in this book though 🥺 ofc in the flashbacks he would really irk me when he kinda never really appreciated what he always had in front of him?? it killed me how he was so hung up on lila, and just felt like he couldn’t seem to shake her cheating and leaving him. at times i was thinking to myself girl amelia PLEASE stand up😭 like i know u love him and try to be there for him, but girl was breaking her own heart in the process every single time! at those times i was thinking she deserved better than him bc he wasn’t seeing her worth. i was so happy and proud of her when she walked away from him because he needed a wake up call. their friendship really was everything, and him going all in for her made my heart so full it could burst. i never doubted their love for one another when they eventually got together, especially his love for her. it was so real and strong. ash and amelia both genuinely loved eachother so much and i’m so glad they finally got their HEA after all they’ve been through individually and together! ugh i actually loved this book sooo so much!!!!
thank u wildfire marketing for sending me this!

Wait for Always by K.A. Linde was a brother's best friend to lovers angsty, emotional romance that captured my heart from start to finish. Amelia has always loved Ash Talmadge, but their timing has never been just right until now. Their journey to HEA is full of obstacles from the past to overcome and a second chance to finally have their very own love story once and for all.

Ava Erickson narrates this audiobook, and she is perfection as Amelia Ballentine. In Ava's performance, you could feel Amelia's vulnerabilities, passion for her work, and dedication to loving Ash and finally letting nothing stand in their way. Ava's portrayal of Ash was swoony, charming, and dreamy as he finally gave in to his love for Amelia. Her performance gave me all the happy chills!

Overall, I loved this book. If you a fan of a brother's best friend to lovers romance with a hot hunky Southern gentleman, determined patient heroine, second chances, flashbacks, ice cream dates, future business dreams, trips to Savannah and Charleston, slow burn steamy times, and a HEA that proves true love is worth the wait, then you will love Ash and Amelia's story. I always look forward to more from K.A. Linde.

Not going to lie, I wasn't sure if I wanted Ash to get his own book... But I am so glad I got it!

Ash and Amelia have a friendship that grows into more, but the timing is always off..

I loved their story and the things they had to overcome to find their HEA! I enjoyed getting more of these characters in the series. They are ones that will stick with you.

I wish I could have kept reading and clicked with this but I was not enjoying Ash at all.
He’s so toxic…. He was in a toxic on and off relationship for years and still would make excuses and think it’s okay and still go back. AND use mia as a rebound every time. No respect for his bestfriend or for Mia.
Mia is so precious and deserves the world and Ash was not giving. Especially walking into her life like it was no big deal.
Also I read this book (#4) in the series before any other and was hoping it will be more standalone but it felt kind of messy for me and nothing made sense, but maybe that was my own fault.
This book also switches between past and present chapters and the timeline got really confusing. I needed more clarification
Altogether I’m so sad I couldn’t finish this bc we need more brothers bestfriend bc it’s soooo good but I wish I loved this:(

Universal

Amelia's loved her brother's best friend, Ash, her whole life. Now she has the chance to finally be with him, of course she's going to grab it. But when she's rejected in the worst way, will it spell the end of their own friendship? Will Amelia finally walk away or stick by the man who's still hung up on his ex?

Oh boy but this one hurt a little. Amelia finally did what was best for herself and I was cheering her on! I really ended up liking Amelia, but she led herself on a merry little dance, and I wanted to shake her more than once for not standing up sooner. I admit that Ash really isn't my favorite, he unintentionally hurt Amelia so many times I wondered how they could possibly end up together. But though there was angst, and pain, I ended up enjoying their story, and thought Amelia was definitely the star here.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

At the end of Hold the Forevers, I secretly hoped Ash would get his own story. He lost the woman he loved since he was a teenager to another man. Since then, he has been on a destructive path. Now it’s time for him to let go, move on and find love with the woman who loved him since she was seventeen years old. Wait for Always, the fourth book in the Coastal Chronicle series, is Ash’s story, and it delivered a brother’s best friend, friend to lovers. romance which will warm the hearts of hopeless romantics.

Now while this installment can work as a stand-alone, it’s best to read Hold the Forevers first. This would help in avoiding the spoilers within Wait for Always.

Wait for Always serves as a reminder that focusing on the person not meant for you can lead to one missing on one’s true love. Ash Talmadge will learn this simple truth. While on his journey to discovering this truth, he encountered bumps in the form of pain and heartbreak. However, the end made the bumps worthwhile.

Amelia Ballentine has been in love with Ash most of her life. However, she never made her feelings known because of his complicated on and off relationship with Lila Greer. Several times a glimmer of hope shines through, but the timing was never right. At the point when Amelia gave up hope of ever sharing her life with Ash, he finally realizes she was his always. The one he was meant to spend the rest of his life with. However, he needs to convince Amelia that has no intention of breaking her heart again.

I loved how the story moved between the past and the present. Readers receive the history of the hurdles and bumps they navigated to claim their happily ever after. I found it interesting that Ash appeared to be attracted to Amelia from the beginning. However, his obsession with his ex made him blind to what was in front of him. An obsession which took him down a self - destructive path. Ash showed immense growth in this story. He let go of his obsession and put all the issues of the toxic relationship with his ex behind him.

If asked to describe a positive trait for Amelia, patient would be the word of choice. She revealed this trait with Ash many times throughout the story. Not only was she patient, she was a strong, independent, smart, resilient and generous individual. However, she was not with flaws. She made questionable decisions in her personal life, which led to consequences that had her second guessing her desirability.

I have enjoyed all the books in the Coastal Chronicle series but Wait for Always is my favourite. Ash and Amelia made a great match, and I enjoyed seeing how their relationship developed.

Ever since the first book in this series, I have been waiting for Ash’s story. He was a favorite of mine and I have been patiently waiting for him to get his HEA. “Wait for Always” is a sweet, emotional and angsty brother’s best friend/second chance romance that pulled me in with Ameila’s sweetness and Ash’s swooniness.

Amelia and Ash have been friends and in each other’s life for their whole lives. Ameila has had a crush on Ash for most of it but Ash has always kept his distance. He also has a complicated on/off relationship with an ex and it’s never been the right time for them to be together. Until now. But the past has a way of creeping back in which means Ameila and Ash need to work through.

I loved the timeline of this book. It goes through different years and moments that they have shared. It is all well written out and not confusing at all. I loved getting a peek into their past. Amelia is such a sweet and genuine person and I connected with her instantly. The story is told from her POV so I truly got all the emotions of what she went through. And Ash is just a dream. He went through a lot and had a lot of growing to do. Once he was able to work through his past, he was all in with Amelia and did everything he needed to do to prove it. The road to their HEA was bumping but made their relationship what it was. I loved the epilogue and it left a big smile on my face.

4.5⭐️ 1.5🌶️

This was my first K.A. Linde book, and I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I loved the tropes and wanted to give it a shot. Let me just say, I’m extremely glad that I did.

This story was actually really beautiful. The way that K.A. weaved in the time jumps between past and present, worked really well with the story and didn’t make it lose its pace. I get nervous with time jumps, cause it can wrong so quickly, but this couldn’t have worked out any better.

I found my heart breaking multiple times at all the missed opportunities between Ash and Amelia.. definitely felt the weight of all the “right place, wrong time” moments. I was actually hating on Ash for about 50% of the book, because he just kept hurting her in big ways.. but honestly, the man redeemed himself and more during the last half and I found myself falling for him, along with Mia. It was in all the little things that he did for Mia that showed that he was there to stay and that he loved her.

This is a standalone in a series, and you don’t have to read the others to understand this one, but I will be going back and reading the other books in the series!

Pick this up if you love angsty, brothers best friend, “right place, wrong time” romances. 💖

From the minute I finished Gold the Forevers I know Ash needed a story. I think because I liked him...but not for Lila. So when I heard about this one, I was SO excited. It didn't disappoint.

Ash and Amelia have a history that is fully explored by flashbacks that work so well into the story they almost seem like memories of the characters triggered by current events.

The shift from past to present and back not only explains a lot, but it makes this book into something more angsty than it might have been, especially for readers who read the first book that featured Ash, as you are taken back to those moments to relive them, but with Amelia telling the story. It works. It adds tension to the story that makes it feel like it's a second chance for them.

The chemistry also stands out, as the time spent in the past builds on their connection in the present and you believe these are people, that the events happened, because you are so invested in the characters it's hard to see them as anything but real people.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.

For fans, this is the sweet ending we've all been waiting for...it's finally Ash and Amelia's time to shine!! For every gap, every easter egg that was dropped in prior books, Wait for Always filled in those moments and it made my heart sing.

Ash and Amelia have grown up together, been there for each other for countless moments, good and bad, and while they've both had other relationships they never dated one another. It certainly didn't mean that Amelia didn't hold a flame for Ash for years, even when he was planning to marry someone else, it never extinguished her love for him, but this story...their story shows that sometimes timing is everything and love will eventually get it right.

I don't know if it was already knowing the angsty, heart wrenching outcome of the love triangle between Ash, Cole and Lila, but this book felt less angsty. Personally, I liked knowing the outcome of that part of the story, but my heart still ached for Amelia knowing she loved Ash through the whole ordeal.

This was the perfect ending to tie up such an angsty beginning to this series and I loved it!

Mia doesn’t remember a time that she hasn’t loved her brother’s best friend Ash however since his heart belongs to another she had begun to give up hope that they could ever be more than friends. It appears that he is ready to move forward with his life but she is uncertain if she can trust him with her heart or if she is just a way to help him get over his broken heart?

Ash has finally realized that the woman he really needs in his life is Mia and not the woman who didn’t choose him. Now he must show Mia how much she means to him and that they are meant to be together before he loses the best thing that ever happened to him.

The relationship between Mia and Ash was difficult as for so long it was a case of unrequited love that Mia had for Ash and that Ash had for another woman but once he changes course there was no denying they were meant to be together and we realize that there is a bigger plan even if we don’t know what it is at the time.

The Coastal Chronicles has been a favorite since I read Hold the Forevers. Linde has fantastic way of making you fall in love with every character she introduces you to. She writes these complex characters that you can’t help but want to be friends with or fall in love with. And I love how she seems to effortlessly weave these interconnected stand-alone stories that help expand the universe that the books take place in.

I fell in love with Ash Talmadge from the first page. I couldn’t wait to see how it would all play out for him! A couple times I was so mad at him and just wanted to shake him for the decisions he made!

Amelia has to be one of my favorite heroines! One of my favorite lines in this book was from her. “No. You do not need to do that. You’re not my white knight. The princess saved herself in this one.” I loved that she saved herself in this situation. It’s so often that authors write these strong alpha males who come running in to save the females.

I can’t wait to see what’s next! I’m hoping there will be a Marina book! I’m so interested in what happened with her and Nolan.

Wait For Always is Ash's story and one I have been dying to read since Hold the Forevers. While this book can easily be read as a stand-alone, if you want an even more full-circle story, read Hold The Forevers and then this one.

Ash and Mia's story is quite intriguing. It is told in both past and present POV's but it flows beautifully. I love that we get to see what happened in the past between them and how things change and move forward in the present.

I can't lie, for a small portion of the book, I was quite upset with both Ash and Mia. Ash for just being a complete jerk to Mia and with Mia for not standing up for herself sooner. But it’s needed to see the growth in each of them.

I want to say so much, but also don't want to give anything away. Ash and Mia's story was worth the wait and loved how it all played out.

Wow, Ash and Amelia, just wow! Timing is everything in life, and this story shows you just how when the time is right, the love you experience is like no other! 5 amazing stars for this one!
Ash and Amelia have been dancing around their attraction and feelings toward each other forever. She's always wanted him, he's always told her it's not the right time. Something is always getting in their way, whether he's in a relationship, or she is, it's just never the right time for them.
But now that everything has seemed to align for them, he's finally ready to take it to another level, and she's ready to move to open another store, but he's not letting her go this time, but can she trust that something won't happen again and she'll be left hurt by him once again?
This story was so good, it held me in from the beginning. These two belonged together, but the dang timing never worked for them. Sit back and enjoy their journey, I know I did! Grab this asap!

I loved everything in this book and give it 4.5 outta 5 stars and definitely recommend that you check it out ASAP!

Ash and Amelia have been friends for a long time. Amelia has always been in love with Ash but he's loved another woman. Ash is a businessman and Amelia's brother's best friend. Amelia is a fashion designer. Now that Ash has move on from the other woman, can he get Amelia to open her heart and trust him? Amelia can't remember a time when she didn't love Ash but can she trust him with her heart? Lovely read with friends to lovers and brother's best friend trope.

Wow! 2 hearts that always seem to be on different pages. What a way to make us really feel sorry for them. This book made my heart break and you know who you are actually cheering for but it never seems to really happen. This is 4 people who are so intwined. You really what everyone to find their HEA but will it really be possible? There’s always hearts broken somewhere and it just doesn’t seem fair.

After meeting Ash in Hold the Forevers, I'll admit he wasn't quite my favorite character. But, when I saw that he was finally getting his happily ever after, I jumped on the chance to read Wait for Always. And after reading it, it just solidifies that his ex made the right choice when she left him (which I always thought she did as I was not on #TeamAsh)......and that he really did have to wait for his always, which was right in front of him the whole time. Amelia just loved Ash in a way that the ex never did. They definitely had their ups and downs over the years, but the way it turned out between them was simply perfect.

It's told in the same way as the other books in series - chapters in both the present and in flashbacks - which allows us to see certain pivotal scenes in a completely different light. Sometimes it gets a bit confusing, but I do get why it's done this way.

Definitely a great story, but if you haven't read Hold The Forevers, I highly recommend doing that first! Really, just go back and read the whole series - they are all wonderful reads!

I jumped right in this series at book 4 :) No fears though, I wasn't lost.

This was good. Like really good. I loved the chapters with the flashbacks so that we could see that Ash and Amelia were really meant to be together. But those flashbacks made this angsty since there was always something that kept them apart. At least they got their HEA :)

Ash Talmadge finally gets his story!!!
And let me just say, in true K.A. Linde fashion, angsty goodness.

I was so skeptical of Ash when I read Hold the Forevers. I was Team Cole all the way. After reading Wait For Always, I think I am permanently Team Ash!!! His story with Amelia, wow. Just wow.

I’m obsessed with these Coastal Chronicles.

Gah! I absolutely love the Coastal Chronicles series! I also love when they give me Easter Egg crossovers *wink, wink*

We met Ash Talmadge back in Hold the Forevers. And here we revisit the past that unravels into the present. Always steady and never wavering was his best friend's little sister, Mia (Amelia) Ballentine.

We saw how their paths never truly lined up... well, until it finally did. But is Ash well and truly moved on from his past? Enjoy this angsty, bumpy road of a story that is Ash and Mia. The ending is one of my top favorites - get to one clicking now!

"Is it too much to hope that he will pick me after all this time?"

The playing field has never been level for Ash & Amelia. It's always been a case of the right guy but at the wrong time. Are they finally getting their fair chance at love?

After reading Hold the Forevers, I wanted happiness for Ash since Lila wasn't the right one for him (I'm firmly #TeamCole). But could Ash ever get over Lila? Could Amelia, the girl that's always been in love with him, be the one to help him move on?

The story's dual timeline chronicles Ash and Amelia's past and present. Their history is littered with heartbreak, what ifs, and bad timing. Despite those things, these two friends have been there for each other, have a special connection, and can tell each other the hard truths. My concerns about Ash settling for Amelia were erased as I learned about their past.

"I couldn't look forward to my future for a long time. When I look forward now, all I see is you."

Ash and Amelia go through hell and back before they reach their happily ever after. Their pain is palpable! But, when the stars finally align, it's clear why they are the perfect match for each other.

"Waiting for always was so worth it."

I loved how aspects of so many of KA Linde's different worlds come together in this book. As usual, we are treated to plenty of Easter eggs!

This angsty, sexy second chance story is just perfection!

I have to admit that I put off reading this one. I just couldn't see how I could like Ash and Amelia after reading about Ash's love for Lila. Once I started reading, I immediately fell in love with Amelia's character and flew through the whole book. This story was very similar to Hold the Forevers. Ash and Mia just NEVER seem to get the timing right.

"This was our shot. If I was ever going to find out if this would work, then I had to put myself out there again. Which was the hardest part of all."

I highly recommend this book if you enjoyed the ride in Hold the Forevers!
