Wright #3

The Wright Mistake

Rate this book
A new stand alone enemies-to-lovers romance by USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde...

I spent six weeks screwing Austin Wright’s brains out and all I got was this broken heart.

He can’t be trusted. Not with my body or my heart. Yet, two years have passed and I still crave him like an addict needing a fix.

The last time we tried this, it nearly ruined me. I know I should run and never look back. But his dark haunted eyes and razor blade smile speak to my soul. His touch sets my body on fire. And we all know what happens when you light gasoline. Someone is bound to get burned.

A second chance might destroy us both.

Because everyone knows two wrongs don’t make a Wright.

“Hate and love are easy emotions to feel. They’re powerful. It’s indifference you have to fight for,” he said, gripping my chin and turning me to face him. “Not caring about someone would mean forgetting them, and we both know that neither of us are forgettable.”

Austin Wright’s story, The Wright Mistake, is the book in the series I was most looking forward to. I could just tell it would be more emotional than the others, and I was right. What I loved so much about this book was seeing the growth in the characters and seeing the support and love they had.

Austin Wright is the brother who drinks too much and doesn’t take things too seriously. He is the way he is for a reason, though, and he has no reason to change. Until Julia Banner comes along. Julia is the head of HR at Wright Construction. She had a short relationship with Austin a few years ago that ended badly, and now she just does her best to keep away from him. It’s more difficult than she would like. Not only do these two work together and hang out in the same circle, they are drawn to one another.
When we spoke, we mixed about as well as oil and water, but our bodies were another story. We were the ocean waves, destined to crash together.

I love broken characters. Austin appears to be an asshole at times, but he’s really just a broken man who needs help mending his broken pieces. He drinks to excess to numb the pain and cover the guilt he feels. I loved that Julia cared enough about Austin to call him out on his crap and try to help him. She didn’t enable him or let him get away with anything. I’d love to say Julia’s life was so put together and Austin was the only broken one, but Julia has issues from her past as well. Together, they can handle them, though. Because real love is fighting for someone even when it gets tough and thats exactly what this couple did. They fought for one another.

I loved the healing, emotion, and heat this story had. It had just enough angst and a bit of suspense. I loved it! I’m so sad this is the last Wright Brother’s book, but I’m hoping Linde will give us some Wright Sister’s stories ;) I need more of this family!!!

I kept putting this book off because Austin definitely did not impress me in the previous books and I was scared to read his story and hate him even more. I'm glad I continues with this series though even if this one wasn't my favorite.

There were still a lot of parts that I liked and of course I enjoyed getting to see glimpses of the other family members. The main characters, though, are the ones that had me ready to rip my hair out. It seemed like all Julia and Austin did was fight and it got on my nerves after awhile. Austin did nothing, in my opinion, to actually show Julia that he was worth taken a second chance on and yet she took him back anyway after a bullshit conversation about what happened in the past. Which was another thing that annoyed me because for a lot of the beginning their past breakup was brought up and hinted at but then when they finally talked about it and we got to learn what happened it was very rushed and still left my confused as to what actually happened.

Austin's alcoholism was a really big issue for me as well, and it was something that even had me hating on characters that I loved before. I hated that his family acted like it was no big deal and even when other people brought it up his family acted like they had no right to be concerned about it. To me they were one of his biggest enablers and I just couldn't get on board with that.

I was also hating on Julia's friends, the past two heroine's, because they kept trying to push her to be with Austin even when she kept saying she couldn't do that again. They admitted to having no clue what happened in Julia's relationship before that made her and Austin break up yet still acted like she was being ridiculous to want to avoid him, not that she actually did that for more than five seconds.

Overall I enjoyed the experience of reading this book and I'm glad I didn't avoid it for too long. I know it may seem like I absolutely despised it since all I can do is bitch about what I hated but I can assure you that's not the case and I do still recommend this book for anyone that likes a angsty read.

Right and Wrong. Two choices that leads to two different paths and outcomes. Is it right to give love a second chance? Or is it wrong? Or maybe it could be The Wright Mistake?

2a0ce925975af8423b3c1a2d2a2cd7 When we spoke, we mixed about as well as oil and water, but our bodies were another story. We were the ocean waves, destined to crash together.”

#WrightMistake

In K.A. Linde’s third installment to the Wright Series, readers are taken down on a very emotional, raw and vulnerable journey of two former lovers who are very secretive of their past. Austin Wright is the outgoing, crazy, man whore sibling who has a penchant for alcohol. His drinking has gotten to the point of excessive since it has been his crutch on how he deals with personal matters. His emotions are always kept buried away and so his siblings doesn’t know really the root of his pain, sadness and the seriousness of his alcohol abuse.

#WrightMistake1

Julia Banner knows Austin is bad for her. She had a six week fling with him and it ended it badly, causing her to not trust him. As much as Julia tries to avoid him at work, she can’t seem to avoid in him in her personal life as her friends are in a committed with the two older Wright brothers, Jenson and Landon. When Julia and Austin are constantly running into each other, it was inevitable these former lovers turned enemies discover that maybe fate was leading them back to each other for a second time around.

2a0ce925975af8423b3c1a2d2a2cd7 This man. This man. My argumentative, drunken, narcissistic asshole. The one who caused me so much pain and anger and lust. The person who I’d thought I had completely figured out. He was the one who had just confided in me about this. My heart melted. Just a sliver, for him.”

As much as their personalities clashed, their was a sexual chemistry brewing between them that was undeniable. It was hot, combustible, and explosive. The 4th of July fireworks has nothing on them. When Julia and Austin are together, the world stops and everything makes sense. And so when they finally decided to give their relationship a second shot, Austin knew that he had to give up alcohol in order to make it work with Julia. But what happens when a family tragedy, work expectation, family obligation and the buried past comes barreling through like a storm causing Austin to slip back to drinking? Can Julia save him? Or did she make the wrong mistake in giving him a chance or the Wright Mistake? And will Austin be able to show and prove to Julia the only mistake she will be making is not giving their love a chance?

2a0ce925975af8423b3c1a2d2a2cd7 No matter where we went from here, there was one certainty. Austin and I were as addictive as heroin and as combustible as gasoline.”

#WrightMistake2

The Wright Mistake is indeed one of the most raw, heartbreaking and emotional book of the series as Austin and Julia were two characters who were stripped bare and made vulnerable. They were two people who were good at hiding and running from the truth. Julia was running away from her past and Austin was masking his pain with alcohol. So can two broken individuals who were oil and water, fire and ice, and complete opposites discover that there was no mistaking this Wright connection? I absolutely loved how K.A. Linde allowed her readers to feel for her characters as they worked hard to overcome their insecurities, doubts, trust issues, and demons. While this book packed an emotional punch, trust me when I tell you this book was loaded with so much heat, passion, and love. A must read for anyone who understands that mistakes don’t define you, they don’t dictate where you will be in life but they are a reminder of where you have been. And for Austin and Julia, they both realized they made the right choice and The Wright Mistake when it came to trusting their forever kind of love.

This was as heartbreaking as it was beautiful. Austin Wright has STOLEN my heart, and I NEVER EVER want it back!

I just recently discovered K.A. Linde when I read the second book in her WRIGHT series, THE WRIGHT BOSS. With this being only the second book I've read from this incredible author, I'm just as impressed, if not more, as I was before! I think that if you are a veteran reader of Ms. Linde OR if you are a newbie like me, you will be overjoyed at how Austin's book played out. THE WRIGHT MISTAKE is a breakthrough book for me, I think. It showcases the author's talents like no other. It has incredible depth and impeccable writing. Once I started Julia and Austin's love story, I just knew that there was absolutely NO putting it down!

"...she wasn't giving me what I wanted. I wanted to argue. I wanted her to scream at me. I wanted to feel something."

Just thinking about Austin Wright makes my heart hurt all over again. And thinking of how Julia came into his life and brought him BACK TO LIFE, makes my heart soar even higher than it did when I read it the first time. THE WRIGHT MISTAKE deals with some heavy emotional subjects like alcohol abuse, domestic abuse, and addiction. These subjects might be triggers for you, but I can tell you that it is done in the most sensitive way. It brings light to these subjects that are sometimes left in the dark, or that are too hard to talk about. Both characters are familiar with these, and their journey to find peace is not a simple or easy one.

"I want a future with you. I want to believe that's possible."

Even though K.A. Linde completely broke my heart with Austin and Julie's story, the happily ever after that she grants us with makes the heartbreak SO WORTH IT! I'm so extremely grateful that I found this author when I did! I absolute LOVE her work so far and I can't wait to see what she brings to the table next! I know there is more WRIGHT to be had...and I'm just OVER THE MOON for what's to come!

Now this….is my jam! I am beyond impressed by this release! It’s an emotional, gut-wrenching, and heart-pounding read. Seriously, all the feels were felt people. I’m an emotional read junkie and this one checked all my boxes. It’s definitely the best of the series.

Here’s the breakdown: If you’ve read the previous books in the series, you’re well-aware of Austin’s problem and his reputation with women. Actually, if you paid close attention, you’ve had a glimpse into his relationship with Julia. The facts are that they dated and it didn’t turn out quite as expected. They each have emotional issues with some pretty significant consequences, but their chemistry is OFF. THE. CHARTS. HOT!

Here’s what I FLOVED: The characters are flawed. Each of them deal with an issue or circumstance that’s emotionally charged. Some of the issues are real difficult, but also relatable. I enjoyed the pull on my emotional heartstrings.
The main characters were a lot of fun. At the beginning of the novel, the situation between Julia and Austin was strained at best, but their relationship developed beautifully over the course of the novel. Character development and relationship development were the definite highlights of this one.

The storyline and plot are intriguing and engaging. I was sucked in from the first sentence and didn’t put it down until the very last. It’s unexpected and extremely entertaining.

The plot twists were fantastic! One in particular caught me off guard and added an even bigger emotional punch. Man, I was in tears for much of it but I loved every single second!

Overall, I give The Wright Mistake two thumbs up! K. A. Linde wowed in this installment of the series. I was blown away and can’t wait until the next release. I’ll be on pins and needles until it drops.

Passionate, angsty, and emotive!

The Wright Mistake is a heartwarming tale about the quirky, fun-loving Julia who has a weakness for bad boys and a past riddled with heartbreak, and Austin the sexy, charismatic playboy who masks his deep-rooted sadness and prefers the numbness and oblivion he finds in a bottle.

The writing is fluid and sultry. The characters are amusing, supportive, and entertaining. And the plot takes us on a whirlwind through the highs and lows of alcohol addiction and the explosive and spicy chemistry of falling in love.

Once again, Linde has proven that when it comes to writing contemporary romance stories that are emotionally compelling, bursting with sexual tension, and full of characters we can't help but root for, she’s certainly one of the best.

Thank you to InkSlingerPR and K.A. Linde for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

So... I've tried to write this review like three times already and it's just not coming out in a way that I'm happy with. I'm still too spastic over Austin and Julia just generally being awesome and my words aren't flowing as eloquently as I'd like for them too. With that being said, I think I'll try a bit of a different format with this review. I'm going to start with point forms and expand slightly where I feel like it. That work? Because I think that's all I can manage.

Likes:
- Addiction portrayal, denial, doesn't want help, etc.
- The struggles that this puts on individual relationships and the main couple because of such
- The inner demand that Julia do what's best for herself
- The angsty bits
- Did you know that Austin isn't always a big jerk face? Sometimes he's actually cute AF!
- Glimpses into sober Austin and what he's like underneath the facade
- Slip ups. Who doesn't have them? No one is perfect. Both characters show this.
- Did I mention the angsty bits? They're the flipping best.
- Don't worry though, it's heavy subject matter at times (duh) but not suffocating sort of stuff
- But definitely enough to make you feel your heart tearing a bit
- And a bit more
- Letters. I'm not explaining this at all. It'll come in due time. But OMG. <3
- Waffle
- The banter, when it doesn't turn hostile and ruin everyone's lives
- Favourite book of the series

There's actually several things that I would've liked to see differently/changed/(I don't know, I'm talking out my butt) that I'll go over too. Because, you know, real talk. But with that being said, like I mentioned, THIS IS STILL MY FAVOURITE IN THE SERIES SO OBVIOUSLY THIS LIST DOESN'T EVEN MATTER. *deep breath*. I'm just giving some perspective and/or opposing thoughts.

Dislikes:
- How it switched so quickly from fighting and disliking Austin to dating him. I wanted him to work at not being an ass and actually show that he deserves a second chance.
- Heidi was nosey and pushy AF, I actually couldn't stand her in this book.
- Her (Julia) past was randomly thrown in, didn't necessarily seem to fit. --- off hand comments, nothing mentioned until it was a HUGE DEAL to everyone. I just think it could've been transitioned a bit better
- Timing was inconsistent --- she said they were together almost 2 years ago, friends said a year and a half, he would refer to it as last fall, then it ended up being in a January/February timeframe?

I don't know, but that's all I can think of. I can't wait for Morgan's book next! I've been waiting patiently for hers since the beginning of Jensen's book!

This book is not my favorite of this series for sure and I hate to say this because I feel bad since I know narrators work hard to give us the story with feeling and emotion in their voices but I did NOT like the guys POV narration on this book. It was mainly when he was trying to do a females voice and it was just too whiney and weird.

The suspense in this book was good but Austin was not my favorite character. I did admire that he finally realized he needed help but it took him a while to get there AND he made some stupid mistakes prior to his self-realization.

I will still go on with this series because I need to know about the other family members.

There is nothing I love more than a second-chance love story!!! This is a special kind of love, one lost but never forgotten. Second-chance romances speak the soul like no other love stories, and oh did The Wright Mistake by K.A. Linde speak to mine. The Wright Mistake is ELECTRIC, an EMOTIONAL EXPLOSION of soul mates!!! This touching and turbulent tale was my KRYPTONITE.

I DEVOURED The Wright Mistake, downing it like a smooth shot of fine whiskey, and it devoured me. Its MAGNETIC PULL held me captive while its BUZZ MADE ME FEEL ALIVE. I felt this SPARK of a story streaming through me. Nothing else mattered. The Wright Mistake slowly UNDID ME, UNRAVELING ME, where I clung to every word, UNEQUIVOCALLY ENAMORED with this riveting romance.

These characters had my heart from the start! Like the other two Wright brothers, Austin is devastatingly handsome, cocky, charming, sweet, and sexy...an ALL-ALPHA!!! He hides hurt behind humor. I LOVED this beautiful and broken man! I knew Austin's story would break me, and that it did!!!

After first meeting the gorgeous and sassy Julia, Heidi's friend, I loved this smart and sassy gal! I knew this woman was masking a bit of a mysterious past, one that made for Jaded Julia. I had to learn more.

Julia and Austin's story cut through me like a knife...straight through my heart.

"Not caring about someone would mean forgetting them, and we both know that neither of us are forgettable."

"I wish I could forget you."

The Wright Mistake is woven with an UNWAVERING INTENSITY FELT EVERYWHERE.

When we were together, we were electric.

The chemistry is COMBUSTIBLE. Austin and Julia are drawn together like a moth to a flame. This hero and heroine are FIRE-HOT where FLAMES can't help but ignite when they collide.

"Stop looking at me like that."

"Like what?"

"Like you're going to kiss me again."

Austin is lost.
Julia is jaded.
Together they are found, soulmates becoming whole again.

The fire and ice.
The push and pull.
The twists and turns.
The highs and the lows.

The Wright Mistake is a roller coaster ride of a romance felt from beginning to end.

We were the ocean waves, destined to crash together.

The Wright Mistake is HEARTBREAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL, a book that will BREAK YOU IN THE BEST WAY!!! The push and pull, the highs and lows, and all of the angst made my pulse pound and my heart beat out of its chest! This tale is FIRE and FEELS. I'm still REELING from The Wright Mistake that RENDERED ALL THE FEELS. I LOVED this love story. Austin and Julia's story is HARD-FOUGHT LOVE, MESSY LOVE AT ITS BEST! This Wright is even more right than the rest!!!
❤️❤️❤️

"You are my undoing."

💋💋💋💋💋 second-chance kisses

This series is just all the things I love right now.

I keep seeing people say this is the best in the series, but for me, I LOVED EVERY book.

This is Austins story, it is real, it's raw, it's kind of every emotion wrapped up in one.

Julia & Austin create the best kind of love story. Passion, pain, and forgiveness.

Read this series!

OMG! THIS BOOK! Austin Wright just became my favorite Wright. Reading The Wright Mistake might just be one of my life’s best decisions. A sexy, emotional read that will take your heart in a beautiful, heart-breaking ride.

Austin Wright was broken...and I wasn't about to try to fir the pieces back together.

Austin Wright had a lot baggage. But really, they’re nothing a bottle of alcohol couldn’t fix. Except Julia. Her existence and what she meant to him was something even a lifetime supply of alcohol couldn’t forget. Wow. I mean I expected Austin to possess a lot of angst, but man, I was so floored with this man’s character. His flaws were part of his defining characteristics but his heart was his core. And man, does that heart love ad feel so deep.

It was perfect. A messy perfection.
Just like me.

Julia might have been able to survive her past but she will never forget the struggle. She vowed never to make the same mistakes twice. But Austin Wright might be an exception. I didn’t expect to love Julia as much as I did in this book! This spunky, badass woman had a trail of bad luck in her past that she strongly overcame. I loved her courage and her heart so much.

When we spoke, we mixed about as well as oil and waiter. But our bodies were another story. We were the ocean waves, destined to crash together.

The Wright Mistake had a slightly different tone than the other ones but I can definitely say that this is my favorite Wright book so far. The tension and attraction between Austin and Julia was just so strong and in a level that keeps the reader anticipating what will happen next while enjoying what is happening. The emotional tug was deliciously good and I reveled on every bit of it.

One more thing. It's unexpected. The romance, I knew it will be sexy and sweet and swoony. The angst, I expected. But the twists? Gah. LOVED. THEM. SO. MUCH.

The Wright Mistake is a romance filled with twists and turns that will break and mend your heart, touch a part of your soul, and leave a trail of flame in your body.

5 Austin Wright Stars!

So I'm gonna start this review by stating Austin Wright is my favorite Wright brother!! He stole my heart! I'm a sucker for the broken men. The sweet hiding behind the asshole. And Austin Wright is exactly that.

The Wright Mistake was beautifully written with so many surprises that had me shocked! Several times I was screaming out WTF?! Especially during one scene that had me in tears. Why K.A. Linde? WHY??

She still holds the title of angst queen. My heart was pounding throughout this book. I was kept on my toes and couldn't stop reading once I started. Now, I need more Wrights in my life? Which sibling is next, I wonder???

This is the kind of K.A. writing that I love reading. If you've read any of my reviews of her last two books in this series, then you know that neither of them really wow'd be. I am so glad that I tried reading this one and not just giving up because this is the best book the Wright series so far. Each book is a standalone but I highly recommend reading them in order because previous characters are mentioned in the book.

The Wright Mistake is Austin's book. Out of all the Wright siblings, Austin is the one who walks around with a chip on his shoulder and has this sense of entitlement. He's a functioning alcoholic who pretty much does what he wants and never apologizes for any of his actions. He's the asshole of family who feels he has nothing to lose. Until he realizes he's about to lose everything he never deserved to have.

Jensen is stepping down as CEO and Morgan is moving into this position, leaving her position as CFO open. A position everyone assumed another Wright would move into, more specifically, Austin. But the board doesn't think so due to his actions and his uncontrollable drinking.

Julia Banner is the head of HR at Wright Construction and has had to deal with Austin in her office more times than she count. And it doesn't help that at one time they had dated until it ended badly. So not only do they have to see each other at work, but Julia is very close to the wives and girlfriends of his brothers.

Julia decides to give Austin another chance, for reasons even she's not sure of. Austin is willing to do anything to be the man Julia deserves. She knows that Austin has a problem with drinking and states the only stipulation is no alcohol, which he is willing to do. Julia is very supportive of Austin, knowing that it won't be easy for him. But she also doesn't allow him to make excuses or take any of his crap.

But Austin isn't the only dealing with some past problems. Even though Austin numbs his pain with alcohol, Julia is running and hiding from hers. And when she finally has no choice but to tell Austin about it, he's there to try and help her.

There relationship is not a smooth one. And it's definitely not pretty one either. They both go through a lot and it really tests their love for one another. It pushes them to make decisions that are extremely difficult, but necessary to move forward, possibly together or separate. There's a lot of raw emotions that take place in this book, but they are so worth it.

This is my favorite Wright Brother story by far. I love all the high tension running this book mixed with the suspense near the end. Now I am looking forward to some Wright sister stories in the near future.

This was one the hardest books I've read. And awfully emotional. I might have shed a tear or two. It deals with so much stuff, especially alcohol addiction and that's not always easy to deal with. I don't have many words to describe this book but I will say to give this book a try if it sounds like something you would read. The writing really flowed and the characters were amazing as always.

There were some things that didn't work with me, while other parts did drag a big. But I did love the ending. I was glad with the way Kyla chose to finish it.

I'm not even thrilled about the story ... If alcohol
addiction would be as simple as described in the story, then it would be much easier for many in life ... and I don't like Julia at all... and her relationship warm-cold to Austin is simply annoying...

The accents kind of through me off but mostly because I just didn't like the narrators. It could just be me though..

The Wright Mistake is a dual POV second chance kind of romance novel. You meet Julia and Austin. They both have issues. Julia for not trusting Austin and Austin for having alcohol has a best friend. Seriously, the guy had such an addiction that it was a turn off reading about it. I don't know how many times my nose was scrunching up because I was constantly cringing.

I get that people have addictions but to know and not do anything about it? UGH that just frustrates the hell out of me!

Besides not liking that part of the book - I did actually like Austin's character. I didn't really like Julia at first but I somehow found liking her by the end of the book.

The sex? Just what you would expect it to be: super hot. So of course you know feelings are going to come rushing back. Then you end up rooting for them to be together and for Austin to stop his unhealthy drinking habit.

Both are broken and need each other to become whole again. It was an interesting story and a pretty quick listen on my audio app. I kind of wished I liked the main characters more but I did end up finishing the book.

Overall, it was an okay-ish book. Not my favorite but I thought that K.A. Linde did a pretty good job. I will definitely look into reading another book by this author.

Well damn. I was expecting an explosive story for Austin, but I wasn’t certain that it would be such an emotional rollercoaster. Austin has never been the serious Wright, he’s lived freely and pretty much is the party boy of the family.

After ending her relationship with her boring boyfriend, the type of man Julia wanted to want, she draws the attention of her former flame, Austin Wright. Julia shouldn’t want the man, but she can’t help the spark of attraction she feels whenever he’s near. Their relationship has been volatile since their split. And as much as her heart still wants the man she knows he can be, he’s not the man right now that she needs.

Austin was this mix of boyishness and asshole – at times his behavior seemed harmless, but he also liked to self-destruct whenever things got too serious.

One of the best parts of this story was watching these characters grow. Things weren’t easy and there was no quick fix or reset button to hit. But I loved seeing everyone step up and offer support without pressure, without judgement.

This book was packed full of angst, steam and emotion. My heart broke at times during this story as we got some unexpected twists and turns. And although this is the last of the Wright Brothers, we still have some gals in the bunch and I’m really hoping that we’ll get their stories.

5 SPARKLY UNICORN CROWNS

How is it possible for every single book in the Wright series get better and better? I thought Jensen was my favorite, and then Landon, but Austin's story takes the whole funnel cake.

Austin Wright is the right mistake to make. Even when he is struggling with his addiction, being irresponsible, and even hurting those he loves with his blasé attitude, it is easy to see the goodness beneath the surface. Because readers see the heart underneath the bravado he throws around, they ache for the pain he is hiding and how he continually seems to screw up the relationships that matter to him. Even with all the mistakes, readers still yearn for him to get it together, to make his life not only better for his heroine and family but also ultimately for himself. Because of all the Wright brothers, Austin needs his HEA, whether that is with his heroine or not.

Julia is a heroine that is a survivor. Her dedication to making an independent life and standing on her own two feet is honorable, and when readers find out why, their respect for her only increases. This is a woman who wants to be able to protect herself, emotionally and physically, even when it hurts her in the process. She also heals and grows and changes throughout the course of the novel, and who she becomes in the face of the adversity in her past is wonderful.

This story will suck readers in from page one. The antagonism between Austin and Julia is laced with so much sexual tension that it is clear there are still lingering feelings, hurt as well as desire, between these two. The secrets they both seem to be keeping add to the interest of their story, and it leaves readers wondering what their secrets will be and how they will rock these two when it is revealed. When the revelation occurs during the climax of the story, I can honestly tell readers, I didn't see it coming. The actual event, yes, but the author pulled out a surprise I didn't see coming, which I absolutely love!! The ending, though. God, that ending is everything! It is perfect and gives the characters the resolution the characters deserve and one they have earned.

This story had me absolutely hooked because of the characters and their story. Seeing the struggles of recovery, physical and emotional, and witnessing how two imperfect people can find perfection together is absolutely every single thing I love about romance, and K.A. Linde knocks it out of the park, making The Wright Mistake one of my favorite second chance romances.

From the eye catching cover to the intriguing synopsis, The Wright Mistake completely sucked me in from the very start. Linde did a good job executing a story with sensitive topics while giving us a sense of hope and new beginnings. At the very start of the story we get to meet Julia Banner, who works at HR for the Wright Contraction’s company. After working for the Wright family for some time, she is used to being around them all the time on and off work. Needless to say that when she spends the night with Austin Wright, one of the Wright brothers, she doesn’t realize just how much her life was about to change. Their relationship lasted for a short time after that, and it ended abruptly. Neither of them expected to feel something more for the other, but Julia still feels the same way towards Austin and she hates it. When she is invited to be with the Wrights for the holiday weekend, she wasn’t expecting to find Austin there, but he is and he is not ready to give up on her no matter how much distance she tries to put between them. Now she has to decide if giving him a second chance is worth it or not.

Austin Wright has it all, he has the looks and wealth to attract just about any women he would like. Yet, it was his short relationship with Julie that has damaged him for other women. As one who never really cared for anyone else or takes things seriously, Austin has now to convince Julia that their relationship is worth fighting for. Yet his life gets more complicated when he gets passed up on a job that he thought he was going to get in the company. Now he has to prove to the board of directors that he can get over his alcohol addiction in order to seem more responsible. It is through a series of events that really make him see and value those round him, but most importantly value his health and well being before he can move on with Julia that proves to be the ultimate test.

I loved reading this story, it was filled with so much emotion and chemistry between the characters that I couldn’t seem to get enough of it. The characters have their pasts and issues that they need to solve before they could ever think about being together. Austin had his moments where he could be charming and others a total jerk. His family (which we get to meet in the other Wright books) is there for him no matter what and that along with Julia’s help completely changes him. On the other hand, Julia has troubles accepting who she really is through her somewhat rough exterior, but comes to terms with what she wants with the Austin’s help. Overall, I would highly recommend reading this book and others by the author you will not regret it. ;)

Audible Escape. DNF @35%. This audiobook is a hot mess. There’s a loss of continuity in the series by suddenly giving the characters Texas accents. As a Texan, this attempt was laughable. They didn’t even carry them throughout. I don’t know what was going on with Alexander Cendese ~ I’ve heard many books by him and he’s always been fantastic. Even narrating the Bourbon Kings series where he had a southern accent was fine. Yes, he’s a man doing a woman’s voice so you can’t expect feminine, but several of the female characters were horrible. Lucy Rivers wasn’t much better here either.

Let’s move on to the story. This is set a year after Landon & Heidi’s book. Austin is repeatedly touted as constantly drunk throughout book 1 & 2. I don’t think he’s ever referred to as an alcoholic per se, but the insinuation is there. I was actually expecting that perhaps he was recovering and we were going to get a better backstory as to what fell apart between he & Julia, a “behind the scenes” of them from the time covered in books 1 & 2.

Nope. Austin is STILL a raging alcoholic. His very wealthy family has to have a board of directors tell them this. They still do NOTHING to encourage Austin to seek treatment of any kind. And to soften the bad news they offer him a f***king bottle of expensive liquor.

Then, Julia’s so-called friends encourage her REPEATEDLY to get involved with him. She, wisely, tries to resist. He drunkenly and crudely propositions her repeatedly. Then, after weeks of all this pressure, she finally caved. Yup, he’s drunk when he asks her out “officially” and after thinking it over ~ SHE SAYS YES.

Are you kidding me? This is not romantic. This is not healthy. And you should fire all your friends for encouraging this.

Between this train wreck of a relationship and the barely tolerable narration ~ I’m done.

I couldn't wait for The Wright Mistake because I knew how broken Austin Wright was just from seeing his character in other books. I didn't know the extent of his brokenness though until reading firsthand. Austin Wright isn't the asshole who doesn't give a damn everyone thinks he is, he has a huge heart and just wants to numb the pain he feels. Austin finally has a chance to step up but how will he handle it? Will he do the Wright thing?

“Hate and love are easy emotions to feel. They’re powerful. It’s indifference you have to fight for,” he said, gripping my chin and turning me to face him. “Not caring about someone would mean forgetting them, and we both know that neither of us are forgettable.”

Julia Banner once cared deeply for Austin but he hurt her badly and she won't make the same mistake again...or will she? The Wright Mistake is one of those books that shatters your heart and turns you into a blubbering mess. Austin might be a pain in the ass but he's definitely one of those broken men you can't help but fall deeply for. I was rooting for him to get his life together the entire time. Ms. Linde knocked this one out of the park and really earns her Queen of Angst title. 5 emotional and pure perfection stars!!!

Alcoholism is always a difficult subject. K.A. Linde showed us a wonderful romance with some difficult situations with alcohol. Austin was a likable guy but everyone knew he drank more than social. It affected him overall in work and relationship with Jules.

Jules had her own story and this is pretty big too. Together the Wright family work together to keep their family strong. It's a nice series!!

Lordy! This was a tough one to get through. Austin did not take the easy path and Julia didn't cut him any slack. But when you get to that epilogue it was worth it.

Austin had issues.  If you've been following this series, you know Austin and a bottle of alcohol were best friends.  Everyone knew it and everyone turned a blind eye to it.  But it's the woman whose heart he broke that finally makes Austin realize something has to change in his life.

Austin and Julia's relationship isn't easy.  When he was somewhat sober, Austin was practically the perfect boyfriend.  He was sweet, funny and was proving to Julia that he wasn't the guy she thought he was.  But you knew he was going to fall, because at the rate Austin had been living a stumble wasn't going to force him to make a change.

Julia may have kept a somewhat eagle eye on Austin's alcohol intake, but it seemed like no one else in his was as diligent.  His brothers and sisters knew he had an issue, but they never intervened.  His best friend never stepped up because a drunk Austin is a fun Austin.  I spent a lot of time while reading this book wishing someone would step up.  How could they just let him drown himself the way he was?

This was a tough read, but I think K. A. Linde did an awesome job of weaving a story where Austin screws up and had to figure out what he wants.  Austin had to learn to love himself and learn how to deal with his parents' death.  He had to take that step and journey, which made getting to the HEA of this book so, so satisfying.  Austin lived a pretty easy life, but he proved that he could grit it out, learn from his mistakes and live the life he wanted.

A difficult situation and a lifelong journey...addiction is a game changer. The Wright Mistake is a beautiful story about an ugly thing. An addiction that neither wants to be ended or acknowledged.

I have loved read this family's trials since the beginning and watching Austin hurts. His destructive tendencies make your heart squeeze and your anger fester.

Having a tough chick like Julia is all he would ever need...but she needs more than a functioning alcoholic. She deserves more. So does he...

Still feeling the feels and needing a hug but it's okay because the Wrights aren't gone. Morgan is going to get her story.

So as I raise my glass (of lemonade) I propose a toast to meeting the right Wright, keeping them, and milking it for all its worth. But most of all to never letting life run you over....

This was a good book. I wasn't sure how I was going to like Austin and Julia.

Austin is a functioning alcoholic. I felt for him though. As the book went on, I grew to love him. He really was numbing his pain. But he wanted so badly to be different for Julia. He was trying but failing.

Julia, I liked in the prior books, but for some reason when these females get their own books, they turn into not so likable. I think it was the fact that she was so demanding of Austin, to be honest, and change, but yet she's hiding a pretty massive secret herself. Once she pulled her head out of her butt, she was a support for Austin. They really do make a great couple and are perfect for each other.

I loved Heidi and Emery in this one. We saw a little more of Morgan's personality so I'm ready for her book. Sutton, my heart broke for. I can't wait to get to her book.

Not going to lie. This book was fantastic, but on a very personal level very hard to read.
This was Austin's story. He's an Alcoholic, and of course he doesn't see that he needs help.
Julia Bennett could be a game changer for Austin. She's his idea of the perfect woman. They are on a roller coaster ride from start to finish in this book. She likes him then hates him and then goes back to liking him. Her biggest problem is that he drinks A LOT. He "tries" to change, but under his terms.
What else happens in this book.....READ IT to find out

This was again fun, but not as addicting as the first two books. Austin was hard to get on board with until towards the end and Julia's past was a little OTT for me. I'm hoping to see more of these two in the books ahead because I really wanted to see them both in a good place and happy, but just wasn't as pulled in as the first 2 couples. BUT FINALLY! Patrick and Morgan! YES.
