Wright Vineyard #0.5

One Wright Stand

Rate this book
A one-night stand prequel romance to USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde’s Wright with Benefits…

I can’t tear my eyes away from the stranger.

He’s too hot for this small town. Too polished for this seedy bar. And a hundred percent my type. Tall, dark, and handsome in a suit with brooding eyes that say he’d lay waste to my body. And I’d let him.

Our connection is immediate. The desire is blatant. I’ve never felt anything like it.

Then I make the mistake of a lifetime: I let him walk out.

I’m still kicking myself when I show up to my best friend’s Wright family pool party. I walk outside and stop dead.

He’s here.

And he’s a Wright cousin.

My best friend’s brothers are off limits, but she never said anything about her cousin.

One Wright Stand follows Annie and Jordan the night/weekend they meet. This is the prequel novella to their full length novel, Wright with Benefits which comes out later this month. K.A. Linde always manages to give the feels of a full story in such a short novella. I'm already so intrigued by Jordan Wright and Annie. I can't wait to see how their story turns out!

This was a quick read, but it was fun, steamy, and captivating. Also, the audio was narrated by my absolute favorite narrator, Erin Mallon. And Joe Arden, who also does a great job. I can't recommend listening to this one enough!

One Wright Stand by K.A. Linde is a sexy prequel to Wright with Benefits. Narrated by two of my favourites, Joe Arden and Erin Mallon. Both are so passionate in their story telling. This is a quick and steamy listen and is the perfect intro to Annie and Jordan’s story. The only problem is Jordan is only in town for one night and is leaving to go back home to Vancouver. I loved the table that Linde set in introducing these characters. Annie is in medical school. She is focused and driven and is also best friends with Jordan’s cousin, Sutton. Jordan’s life is in Vancouver but his mom and brother are moving to Lubbock, Texas and the family has made it clear to him that he is more than welcome in the family business and to move as well. I am looking forward to the rest of the story in Wright with Benefits.

This was a short, quick novella. It takes us back to I believe book 5, The Wright Love, to the backyard scene with Annie and Jordan. This book is from Annie and Jordan's POV. There was enough in this novella that makes me curious about Annie and Jordan's story.

This prequel .... left me craving for more!
I am a big fan of the Wright Clan and I cannot wait to read more about Jordan and Annie.

“I laughed but didn’t disagree. Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome was definitely my type.”

Jordan is definitely my type too!

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. One Wright Stand sets the stage for the novel Wright With Benefits. Annie Donahue and Jordan Wright. The story gave an interesting peak into Annie and Jordan’s first meeting and their eventual hook up.

Annie’s goal in life is to become a medical doctor so she can save lives. As a medical student she studied hard, but she never shies away from partying and having fun. It was at one of these partying moments that she first laid eyes on Jordan Wright. Now both had no intention of being involved in a relationship, Annie because of her studies and Jordan given his many failed relationships. However, they could not deny their attraction to each other. What better way to deal with their attraction without the commitments a relationship entails, but to have one night of passion. One night with no strings, with the understanding they will go their separate ways after. Should be easy, especially with Jordan returning to Canada the following day. Fate, however, had other plans

I enjoyed this prequel. It may have been short, but it sure packed a punch. The story which feature intriguing characters entertained me from start to finish, whetting my appetite for the sequel. Readers familiar with the series would be happy to know that the events of this prequel occurred before Sutton’s story. I thought this to be a wonderful introduction to Annie and Jordan’s story. A must read for fans of the series and readers of contemporary romance. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading

I loved this hot, little prequel novella a lot Annie and Jordan. I’m loving being back in the Wright’s world and all the heat that comes with it. Annie is going to need school and decides one night with a hot man who is leaving town the next day is just what she needs. Jordan is only visiting his Wright family while his mom and brother get settled. The chemistry between these too is soooo hot! I can’t wait to find out what happens in Wrights with Benefits.

Joe Arden and Erin Mallon narrate this audio! These two are always my one click narrators. Joe and Erin were the perfect Jordan and Annie!

What a prequel.

Reading this is going to make you want to read Annie and Jordan's story...right away. And, that is definitely the point of a prequel.

I was lucky enough to get my hands on an ARC of Wright with Benefits, and while you don't need to have read this prequel, I am going to say it's a great idea that you do...it gives you not only a little bit of their backstory, but it also explains some of their reactions in the full story. You don't need this to fully enjoy Annie and Jordan, but it definitely adds some deoth.

I enjoyed and recommend the prequel and the full story to follow.

I love being back in the world of the Wright family and this prequel is the perfect introduction to Jordan and Annie’s story. This may be a quick read but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t pack a mighty punch, its a quick read thats hot with wonderful characters and it’s the start of Jordan(oldest Wright cousin) and Annie’s journey. Jordan should be off limits to Annie after all he is related to her best friend but sometimes our heart doesn’t listen to our head so will this couple cross the line.....
Can’t wait to get their full story in Wright with Benefits.

I have absolutely no idea why this isn't labelled as New Adult, but the heroine has annoying drunken college student written all over her and I'm over it.

She describes herself as "the head cheerleader... (in) designer clothes... dicking around or drinking until I was still drunk the next morning."

I have no interest in listening to her whine about how dull medical school is or how disappointing it is that her one night stand treated her like a one night stand...

I don't believe that "falling in love" with someone because they put some effort into making sex enjoyable for both parties is love. It's disheartening, if anything. That's a baseline.

Jordan & Annie Seem Destined To Be Together When Their Paths Continue To Cross! Read How It All Begins In This Quick Read That Takes Place Before Their Story In Wright With Benefits.

This book is related to the Wright series. It is the prequel to Wright with Benefits, Jordan and Annie’s story.

This story takes place in August. Sutton Wright is still a widow in this story, a year after the loss of her husband Maverick. Her story with David Calloway is found in books five and six in the Wright series – The Wright Love and The Wright One. It is a month before Jensen and Emery’s wedding. This prequel predates Jordan and Annie’s book by three and a half years. Accordingly, their story will be a second chance romance.

Owners of Wright Construction, a Fortune 500 company, the Wrights are Lubbock’s most prominent family. Jensen, Austin, Morgan, and Sutton are well-known locally. They were orphaned, but have blossomed in spite of their loss.

Annie, probably around twenty-four, is smart, outgoing, and confident. It isn’t surprising that she had been head cheerleader in high school. She loves a good time and isn’t really looking for love. Relationships haven’t worked out well for her – apparently her confidence is a turnoff. She has never felt fulfilled by any man, so she doesn’t waste her time on romantic dreams of true love. She hasn’t had many one night stands, but she might be open to the idea this weekend. She is looking to have a good time before buckling down for four strenuous years of medical school. She had finished her undergrad degree at Texas Tech before working as a receptionist at a dental office during an off year while she got in her med school application. After seeing loss close-up, she is more determined than ever to achieve her dream of becoming a doctor and helping to save lives.

She lives in Lubbock, Texas – a community she loves. While it might not be a big city, it has a lot of charm. Annie has good friends, too. Her friend Cezanne attended Texas Tech with her, and they will be attending medical school together as well. Her roommate, Jennifer Gibson, is her polar opposite, but they have become good friends. They knew one another in high school, but when they both ended up being besties with Sutton Wright, Annie and Jennifer grew close, too.

Jordan Wright is confident and introspective. While he isn’t one to be the life of the party, he certainly knows how to turn on the charm. Getting the girl is easy for him, keeping her is another thing altogether. His confidence never fails to impress the women, but that isn’t enough to make a relationship last. He is isn’t good with relationships – he always messes up somehow. His longest was with Missy, and their year together has just come to an end – probably. They are taking a break, which really means they are done.

His focus has been work and his family – his mother and his little brother Julian. He is protective of Julian, who is a big time romantic and doesn’t have as much trouble with long-term relationships. Their father is no longer in the picture – that is not a pleasant story. Their father had alienated them from their mother, but the fences had been mended. Their mother is suffering from cancer, though, and has made a difficult decision. She plans to move from their home in Vancouver back to her hometown in Lubbock, Texas. Julian has decided to move with her, but Jordan doesn’t see himself leaving.

He heads the Wright operations in Vancouver, and since his cousin Morgan runs things pretty smoothly from Lubbock, the company wouldn’t have a place for him there. Moving would mean leaving his career behind and everything else he knowns. He and Julian have always been tight, so his move to Texas will be a great loss. He is accompanying Julian and his mother on a one week trip to Lubbock in advance of their upcoming move, to see for himself where they will be settled and meet their extended family there – which includes a lot of cousins on both his mother’s and father’s sides of the family.

Jordan and Annie seem destined to be together when their paths continue to cross. And though their story starts out magically, and the idea of more is promising, there is more than geography and medical school that gets in their way. Here their story begins. They are both strong and independent, and though their paths might cross, they do not converge. Their chemistry is fantastic. Annie’s enthusiasm for life helps push Jordan out of his comfort zone, and she finds in him someone who really listens and cares about her needs for a change. He seems to come alive around Annie, and she feels cared for. They find freedom in the comfort they find with one another, but things nevertheless fall apart.

Jordan and Annie’s story begins in this one night stand small town romance. Read how it all begins in this quick read that takes place before their story in Wright with Benefits. This story is well-written. The plot is fairly simple. The characters are complex given the length. This weaves their backgrounds together, setting the stage. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Jordan and Annie. I rate this book 4.5 stars.

This is a quick read from Ms. Linde which perfectly sets up the circumstances for Wright with Benefits.

One Wright Stand is the story of an insta attraction as well as a bit of insta love between Sutton Wright's best friend Annie and Wright cousin Jordan.

Sutton has been clear in her edict to Annie that her brothers are off limits. Given that Jordan, his brother and his mother all live in Vancouver, cousins never really fell into Sutton's rules.

Annie meets Jordan accidentally when he is in town for a week. His mother has recently been diagnosed with cancer. She wanted her boys to meet their family so they take a trip to Lubbock, TX the home of the Wrights. Jordan is mainly an all work, focused, non play sort of creature. He runs into Annie at a coffee shop/bar when he's in search of caffeine.

Annie is very much a determined, focused woman who works hard and plays harder. Knowing that medical school is starting in a few weeks, she is out at the bar when she meets Jordan for the first time. She runs into him again the following day at a Wright pool party.

Sparks fly between the two, along with quick banter, teasing, and a strange sense of rightness. It's clear to the reader that these two may have met their person, but are either too young, too blind, too stubborn or all of the above - to notice and admit to it.

While Jordan makes it clear that he is interested in her, he is also leaving the following day. Knowing this, he and Annie still agree to meet for a date later that night. Which leads to a super hot one night stand. The kind where Annie is wishing that it was more than just one night.

Sutton quickly discovers that her best friend and her cousin have had an unsanctioned night together. Sutton confronts Annie about it. Annie admits that to her it was more than just one night.

Feelings that are swiftly ripped apart as Sutton outlines all the upcoming events Jordan will be returning to Lubbock for in the coming months. Events he knew about prior to his night with Annie. Events he didn't mention or ask her to meet or attend with him.

The novella closes with Annie buckling down her feelings and her heart. She feels that she showed herself to someone who understood her, only to be used and discarded callously.

Given the preview of Wright with Benefits at the close of One Wright Stand, Annie has settled into her determination to crush medical school and her determination to forget Jordan Wright. She was also left with a huge dark space for her trust in romantic love.

This novella doesn't need to be read in order to enjoy Jordan and Annie's book Wright with Benefits, however it does present the reader with an idea of what these characters had prior to their real HEA.

I loved this novella with the insta lust, insta love, and love even more that it sets up Mr. Jordan Wright with a LOT of things to undo with their second chance at a relationship.

Jordan was a bit too locked down, too stubborn, and too tunnel visioned in this novella. I'm sure that Ms. Linde has given him chances to grow and change in his life prior to his return to Lubbock.

I'm off to read Wright with Benefits now. Annie and Jordan are a tad bit addicting.

This might be a novella, but it packs a punch! Annie is enjoying a fun week before knuckling down to medical school. In one of her bar nights she meets this guy, very different from the usual guys in Lubbock, Texas, and she goes for the kill. She misses the first night, but then finds him in a pool party at the Wrights. Turns out he’s a Wright cousin!

Now, Sutton, Annie’s best friend, has warned her off her brothers, but she didn’t say anything about her cousins, right? So she goes for the kill and enjoys a HOT 🔥 one night stand.

“Jordan Wright had seen right into my heart and plucked out the words I’d been thinking since the pool party. We were the same. Somehow. Impossibly.”

For flirtatious Annie, Jordan turned out to be more than a night stand but he was going back to his country, Canada, next day.

“Even though it didn’t make sense. This was a one-night stand. It was with a guy who was leaving tomorrow. Who I’d probably never see again. It wasn’t supposed to be anything more than that. We were both into each other, so why deny the inevitable?”

For a prequel to Wright With Benefits, this novella is a bomb! It develops the characters so we know Annie is flirtatious but has depths, we see a Sutton who is dealing with the grief of losing her husband, we see Jennifer who is studying Pharmacy but her real love is photography, and we see Jordan who struggles between his life and work in Vancouver versus living with his mother and brother moving to Lubbock for her cancer treatment. As I said before, it packs a punch and leaves me salivating for Wright With Benefits. So exciting! And so hot!

K A Linde sure knows how to set the table. This spicy little novella introduces you to Annie and Jordan, the latter of the Wright Clan, and their--you guessed it--one night stand. It also sets up the full novel, Wright with Benefits, establishing the conflict that will play out between the two.

Annie and Jordan's attraction for each other is immediate, and it is intense. She's trying to enjoy one last blast before the stress of med school, and he's in the (w)right place at the (w)right time. (GET IT?) They have some fun, and that's all it's intended to be.

It would be easy to diminish this book to just some spicy sexy times, but it's more than that. Linde establishes Annie as dedicated, serious, but up for fun. You meet her BFF and fellow med school student Jennifer, and you get to spend time with Sutton Wright, although this particular time hits when she's deep in mourning. And, of course, there is Jordan Wright, a Wright cousin who, while not strictly off-limits per Annie's agreement to never date any of Sutton's brothers, nevertheless is a little too close to home.

Let's just say that you will need to read Wright with Benefits when you finish this little beauty.

ONE WRIGHT STAND is the prequel novella to KA Linde’s contemporary, adult WRIGHT WITH BENEFITS erotic, romance story line. This is the introduction to Jordan Wright, and pre-med student Annie Donoghue’s story line.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Jordan and Annie) ONE WRIGHT STAND focuses on the introduction and one-night stand between Wright cousin Jordan Wright, and Sutton Wright’s best friend and pre-med student Annie. Jordan Wright lives in Vancouver, Canada but his mother and brother are moving to Lubbock, Texas, and Jordan is only in town for a limited time. Meeting Sutton’s best friend Annie at the Wright annual pool party stirred something deep within our story line hero, and a one-night stand wasn’t going to be enough. What ensues is the quick building, instant attraction between Annie and Jordan, and the potential fall-out as Annie learns there is more to Jordan’s arrival in Lubbock than she could have ever imagined.

ONE WRIGHT STAND is a quick read; a story of instant, palpable sexual attraction between two people whose time together ends all too fast.

Annie is spending one last week partying before she starts orientation for medical school. At a bar she meets Jordan and they hit it off right away but he has to leave and she forgets to get his number. The next day, she goes to her best friend Sutton's brother's house for a BBQ where she runs into Jordan and realizes that he's a Wright cousin. The chemistry between Annie and Jordan was very palpable to anyone who was near them. But Jordan doesn't live in Lubbock and he has to go back home the next day. Later that night, Annie and Jordan have the best sex of their lives and even the next morning. Jordan leaves and Annie has to get serious to start medical school. I'm really intrigued as to how Annie and Jordan will find each other again after their one night stand. Can't wait to see how the other Wrights will react to Jordan being Annie who they all see as a younger sister. It seemed like there will be something between Julian and Jennifer. I'm looking forward to Annie and Jordan's story.

It feels so right to be back in the Wright world! I’ve missed this family. Since getting a taste of the Wright oldest cousin, Jordan, I needed his story. K.A. Linde tells so much with so little in One Wright Stand—packing passion and pleasure into a novella that reads like a novel.

I loved the way the hero and heroine march to the beat of their own drums, unafraid to go after what or who they want. The combustible chemistry between Annie and Jordan is a heady high felt while reading. A test of sexual tension. A romance destined to happen.

This novella ignites with fire and desire. A sweet and sexy story with strong characters that captivate from beginning to end. I can’t wait for more!

This prequel definitely makes you wish for the rest of the story right away.

Annie & Jordan already have me intrigued and eager to find out the direction(s) their journey to love will take. I'm looking forward to every bit of it.

Annie is looking to wring every bit of fun out of her last 'free' days before she gets serious about medical. In Jordan she seems to have found Mr. Right For the Moment, but something about their connection isn't as carefree as she thought it would be.

Jordan isn't ready to move to Texas, but he could sample the fun that Annie offers, right? But spending one night with Annie has him thinking about all the things that he's set to miss out on when he goes back home to Vancouver.

I definitely have to pick up Wright With Benefits to see how everything goes.

This is the prequel to the story of Annie and Jordan. They first met at a bar and sparks flew but he had to leave. The next day, she runs into him at a pool party and learns he is the cousin of her best friend. The sparks still fly and they end up spending the night together at Annie's house. Neither wants him to leave but his life is in Canada and he has to return. Or does he?

His mother and brother are moving to Texas and want him to come too. The head of the Texas Wright Construction tells him he can have a job for him. Should he move to Texas?

You can't form a relationship based upon a one-night stand but he and Annie seem to be in sync with one another. Could it work? Annie is about to start medical school and will not have time to focus on a new relationship. Was this her last hurrah?

One night stand, or was it?

This is the prequel to Wright With Benefits. Annie just started orientation for medical school. There is a barista/bar that all the students go to. In walks Jordan. They strike up a conversation, but he can’t stay. Annie and her roommate were best friends with Sutton Wright. Her family owned a big construction company, Wright Construction. The next day there is a birthday pool party for Landon Wright. Guess who is there? Jordan Wright, who is the cousin from Canada. They leave together and have a one night stand, but it really feels more than that to both of them. There are surprises at the end of this prequel that her best friend Sutton Wright reveals. This is a great novella prequel. Can’t wait to read the next book.
