If you’ve read the first two books in Linde’s All that Glitters series, you know Trihn. She is one of Bryna’s best friends. Emeralds is a prequel of sorts to what happened with Trihn leading up to her move to Vegas.

Trihn is a New York girl. She’s a dancer. An overachiever. The summer before her freshman year of college, something unthinkable to her happens… she falls in love. There is this guy named Preston that completely sweeps her off her feet. She’s never felt this way before and the more time she spends with Preston, the harder she falls.

I shouldn’t be surprised when Linde pulls out these big guns, but it seems I always am. This book shocked me. And I was a little (lot of) outraged. The turn the story took… just wow. I knew something would happen but this? Honestly, I’m a pretty easy going reader but this part of the story made me go from loving this story to not feeling all the love. By the end I felt good about the choices Trihn made, but there was a moment… Every reader has a few things that just irk them and this book pushed those buttons.

Even with the drama and stomach sinking moments, I am anxious to see where the angst queen herself takes Trihn’s story. Kyla has a way of making her characters flawed and real, so even when you’re frustrated with them, I like that they’re not cookie cutter characters. They make mistakes, screw up, and are real. It’s life. With the next book, I’m curious to what kind of appearances Ian, Preston and Lydia will make. You have my full attention here!

If you’re looking for a story with great writing, a lot of steam, even more angst- this is one I would recommend for you.

The first two books of this series are about Bryna Turner. In this novella, fans find out the events that took Trihnity Hamilton from prodigy to now Vegas College’s party girl. Well, my friends this is a doozy of a tale which takes place the summer before she heads to college. Trihn’s plans all take a drastic turn and it all started with a guy!

description

His name is Preston Whitehall and he makes some impression on this former model, ballerina and hopeful fashion designer. Trihn has hooked up with a few guys in her past but with Preston, she’s ecstatic to have her first relationship. He’s everything she’s dreamed of and they are super steamy together.

description

Trihn lets Preston into all the facets of her life and really falls hard for him. However, things change drastically when she heads to the Hamptons for her annual family vacation.

description

In trademark K.A. Linde style, the drama is intense, exciting, crushing and memorable.

description

I must give a shout out to Ian. He's Trihn's best friend and has had a crush on our girl since they were kids. How great is this guy!

description

This story leads the way to the conclusion of Trihn’s story which will be the next book (full length) once she sets foot in Las Vegas. I don’t have to warn readers to buckle up before heading into this one. (It’s a given with any book that this author creates.) I adored this heroine and believe that this one can be read as a standalone if you’re interested in jumping into the series from this point on.

4.5 STARS! ★★★★☆

This series has taken me by surprise when I first read Diamonds back then and now with Trihn's story starting in Emeralds, I thought I'd be prepared with what Kyla have up her sleeves but apparently I've been blindsided yet again. She sure knows how to pack a punch even with a novella length read that has absolutely leave me wanting the next book ASAP!

Fans of the series would have met Trinh already in Gold and we've only scratched the surface back then. She's almost the total opposite of Bryna; more on the reserved side and more composed. Emeralds kicks off Trinh's backstory before she hits Vegas (and pre-Bryna days). Trinh is a girl with many talents- an ex-model, loves dancing ballet and about to enter NYU to pursue her degree in fashion design; she almost had the world at her fingertips.

What she didn't expect was a gorgeous guy named Preston to collide paths with her late one night after her ballet session and sweep her off with his charming ways. The last thing Trinh expected was to be caught up with a random stranger but Preston knows exactly how to win her heart. It won't be too long before Trinh lays her heart open for him and to only discover the devastation that comes after.

I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy this book immensely because I gobbled it up in one entire sitting. This read had my emotions swinging from one extreme to the other. The first half had my head swimming in the clouds but when it came down to the other half, I literally had my jaw dropped open at the sudden twist! Well played, Kyla. It's a compliment to say that you're a sadistic evil genius who knows how to rile us readers up and drive us bonkers.

This book stayed true to what Kyla does best- it had the crazy angst, the smokin' hot steam and it made sure we had one helluva rollercoaster ride with some glorious angst! It's probably too early to judge but I'm already loving this better than Diamonds/Gold. Trinh had her moments too but I could understand her choices. And Preston? Oh boy, I just hope I get to see more of him in the next one because I am just DYING to know what he's really up to.

No one does a read better than Kyla when it comes to MCs you'd hate to love and love to hate, so if that's your cuppa- Emeralds is right up your alley. Plus, it has tons of angst and you don't even need to read the previous books in the series to start ;)

Emeralds is the third book in the All that Glitters series but can be read as a STANDALONE. This is the first of the duet that tells Trinh's story which will be concluded in Platinum.

We all have these moments in life that we look back on and know that that single moment changed the course of our lives forever. That is exactly what happens in Emeralds.

Trihn has her life planned out and everything is going according to plan, working out perfectly when she meets Preston. He is this sexy older guy who makes Trihn feel so much and she quickly falls for him. I’ll be honest, I fell for him too, but things always felt a little off. I couldn’t completely trust him or his intentions. Regardless of my leeriness it didn’t prepare me for the shock and outrage I felt when the truth came into the light. Kyla has a way of evoking such strong emotions and I was definitely feeling lots of things!

Emeralds tells the story of how one huge events pushes Trihn outside her comfort zone. It mentally prepares and pushes her to try a different route. This one summer led to her giving up all her plans to move to Vegas with her friend. I felt a huge connection to this story, the summer before my freshman year of college I made a life changing decision because of a guy. It’s an embarrassing story, but that decision forever changed my life. I can’t even imagine how different my life would be today had I went to my initial choice of schools. Long story short, I get it, I get Trihn and I can’t wait to read her story!

I highly recommend the All that Glitters series. I love how these stories have angst, sexiness and heart. I love the connection and friendship amongst the girls. I can genuinely say I am looking forward to reading all their stories.

KA Linde went AWOL for the first half of this book. The angst and razor-sharp dialogue I've come to expect from her was notably absent and in its place were two sugary sweet characters jumping head first into insta-attraction. Whaaaaa? Yup. It happened. Trihn is so different from pretty much every female character Linde has penned to date. She's... nice. She's pretty passive. There's no obvious drama, no baggage following this girl around. Enter Preston. He's equally nice. So much so, one might wonder if he's too good to be true. They date, they eat cupcakes, they text, they have coffee. Its pretty mundane. Pretty normal and also pretty atypical of the author. But it's light, fun and sexy. Never boring... Just smooth sailing.

Around the 50% mark, the queen came out of hiding, riding on a huge freaking bomb she dropped in the middle of this book. An unexpected, completely infuriating, angst-bomb. Shocking drama ensues and it never let's up, right up to the very last word of this book. Linde consistently weaves together a relatively complex cast of characters, introducing an array of personalities alluding to an ending that could seriously go anywhere. You never really know what will unfold, who the major players will be until she wants you to. This is, of course, Trihn's novella leading into Platinum, so once this chapter closes, we're left off knowing there will be lots more to come for Trihn, but where the story will go is anyone's guess. This was fun, a quick, little angsty treat to whet the appetite before the main dish. Emeralds is rife with WTF moments, infuriating jerks and a main character that I so hope finds the happy ending she deserves in Platinum!

Holy Shit! Only Kyla Linde can make me fall in love with her lead characters, crush me, and then royally piss me off in just 238 pages. But I can't help but LOVE how Linde ALWAYS rips the emotions right out of me and never holds back on the fucked up drama. Her writing style is addictive. Emeralds is so, SO GOOD. I can't wait to read the rest of Trihn's story in Platinum. I know it's going to be a doozy of a book now that we know her back story.

Emeralds, the latest in the All that Glitters saga by the incredible K.A. Linde, is an achingly addictive gem of a masterpiece that bleeds angst, reeks of scandal and sin, and screams resurrection---and I loved every frustrating and fabulous minute! This story scorches your body, and lights up emotions where they explode like fireworks. Emeralds is decadent, daring, and oh-so-delightful---a brilliant book in a series where I have devoured each story and each page of pure pleasure with lightning speed.

I love how the main character, emerald-eyed model and dancer, Trihnity, ‘Trihn,’ is not only beautiful but also bold and badass. She is assertive, taking what she wants, and puts her budding career over meeting a future boyfriend. If she allows a man into her life, he’s going to be someone meaningful. Her ideal man treats a woman like a lady and is boyfriend material---unlike the male models she usually bags and then bolts.

No man has really held her interest or even come close to Mr. Right. No man, that is, until Preston literally bumps into her one day outside her apartment complex. Lust at first sight ensues with an electrical surge between them---the insta-chemistry that sparks at barely a touch.

“He shoved his hands down into the pockets of his dark jeans, bunching his black T-shirt up around his muscles and drawing her eyes to his body. He looked back up at her then with those sexy blue eyes, and her stomach dropped out of her body.”

Trihn cannot get the sexy and sensory-inducing Preston out of her head. She has never wanted anything except an occasional sex-with-no-strings fling from a man. Until now. Until Preston.

“This wasn’t some fling that she would cast aside for the next hottie. This wasn’t some guy she’d make out with in a club after a good drink. This was not a mistake. This felt right, inexplicably right, in a way she had never felt before.”

Sometimes things are not what they seem. Rare and precious jewels may really be cheap and fake gems in disguise. Scandal, sex, secrets, and sin spin around in Emeralds, weaving a web of destruction.

This wicked, witty, and delight of a disaster---Emeralds---will warm, wow, shock, and annoy you like the best soap opera. You will both love this rare gem of a read, and hate it where you want to throat punch some characters and maybe pound this book into submission a few times. I cannot wait to be immersed in more glitter, and get my sparkle on as this sensational series continues.

Trihn is the best friend of the heroine in the previous installments. This story mainly is about her history before she enters college, things hinted about in previous books. She is no longer modeling, finishing her last years of ballet training, with plans to start design school after the summer. She is just finding her footing, while testing out her charms, and vulnerabilities.

As a read this was enjoyable, but frustrating as a romance. It ends in a frustrating cliffhanger. I do like this author's style of New Adult though. I'm definitely continuing with the series.

this was my fave in the series so far..I really liked Trihn...I was just surprised by some of her actions and how everything played out. I am being vague because I dont want to ruin the story for everyone and this is one that will definitely keep you glued to your kindle...I have to say that it just made me MAD!

Kyla knows how to write sexy, angst filled stories that suck you right in and now I am trying to patiently wait for Platinum so I can find out what will happen with these characters! This was a quick novella that I devoured and it definitely leaves you wanting more....gah!

Okay I definitely liked the origin of Trihn's story over Bri but it still didn't do it for me. The aftermath of her defining moment just do not seem realistic. Preston was gross in every way. And her sister was way too one dimensional. Overall a solid effort but it hit nowhere close to the mark

It was time to binge a bit on K.A. Linde for the first part of 2016. Having let this series sit for far too long on my Kindle, I had to start it up again. With B’s story being wrapped up in Gold, I was ready for Trihn’s story. I needed to know what made the way she was. Why did she put up with Neal the way she did through Gold? And in Emeralds you learn everything.

Long before the Vegas Strip there was New York. She had it all planned out. Graduate from high school, start NYU and move in with her older sister. But that wasn’t what fate had in store for young Trihn.

Always serious. Always focused. Trihn finds herself falling in love with a guy that she thinks is going to be it for her. On the surface everything about Preston is perfect. But looks can be deceiving. And love can be destructive.

I loved getting this insight into Trihn as a character. This sets up her story perfectly and it makes you love her instantly. She is all sorts of broken and you instantly understand why she puts up with Neal. It was so hard going from loving Preston to absolute loathing him! But when it comes to the male characters of Kyla’s books I find it hard to count any of them out till the very end. She writes the bad ones so damn well! Jack ruined me for all other characters of hers because I find it so hard to hold a grudge when the screw up. I hold onto hope only to have it be ripped away.

I can’t get enough of this series and these characters.

What I Loved: Wow, this story was a freaking awesome!! I knew the minute Trihn laid eyes on Preston that I was in for an adventure and boy was I right! Trihn was always a little illusive in Gold so I couldn’t wait to find out her backstory and I wasn’t disappointed in the least.

As much as I love Bryna I’m pretty sure Trihn is my absolute favorite character in this series now. Although she’s young and barely out of high school Trihn is a girl not be messed with! She is kicking ass and taking names and I absolutely love her because of it. It might’ve taken her a little while to find her backbone but once she did, look out!

This story hooked me from the very beginning and kept my attention the entire time. I love stories that put me through the ringer; there were times when I was happy, hot, frustrated, mad, heart broken and everything in between.

Trihn takes her life seriously so when she meets a man, she takes him seriously as well and that was no different when she met Preston. Right away Preston and Trihn seemed to click and their chemistry boiled off the pages. Each scene between the two of them was electric and kept me wanting more at times.

Not So Much: I really don’t have any huge complaints about this book because I loved it so much. But I will say that I wish there was maybe a little bit more background detail. I don’t really know what Trihn’s house looked like or Lydia’s apartment. The same can be said for the beach house and some other locations. I get that this is a short story so there isn’t going to be a massive amount but maybe just a little bit more.

To Sum It All Up!: This book was a total experience of intrigue, love, joy, heart break, and bravery. This book explains so much about Trihn and left me NEEDING more. Trihn might be young and inexperienced but she goes after what she wants with a ferocity that I admire. I absolutely fell in love with this girl and when shit hit the fan my heart broke for her.

I read this story in almost one sitting because I couldn’t put it down, that’s how amazing this is. Even though this is a series, Emeralds can be read as a standalone as this plot takes place before Trihn moves to Las Vegas and meets Bryna. If you haven’t started All That Glitters series, start NOW!

K.A. Linde has once again created an amazing story. Each one of her books puts you through the ringer; at times you might want to throw your device or book against the wall but by the end you are even more in love with her then when you began reading. Emeralds is no different, I am definitely Trihn’s number one fan and can’t wait to see what happens next!

When I think of KA Linde, the first word that comes to mind is sadist. Not the sexual kind (get your mind out of the gutter). KA is more of a mental sadist. She likes for her readers to experience mental anguish. Now that I'm thinking about it, what does it say that I rush to download her books as soon as possible? Does that make me a mental masochist?

I must be one, because I am guilty of devouring every angst filled word she writes. Emeralds, her latest instrument of torture, does not disappoint. Yes it has those moments that make you want to chunk your kindle, but that's not all it has. Emeralds is a story of first love, friendship and family.

Emeralds takes place in a world most of us will never experience. That alone drew me in before the plot even took off. Trihn lives a life of New York wealth. Her life is filled with dance, fashion, nights of parties with the beautiful people and summers in the Hamptons. Being a small town Southerner, I loved getting lost in this fast paced, exciting place so different than anything I knew.

The angst builds slowly. I had this feeling of dread almost from the beginning. I have no reason for it because nothing in the story pointed toward impending doom. I think just knowing KA Linde wrote it had me on edge, expecting the other shoe to drop with every finger swipe. All I'll say is hold on to your shoes!

Emeralds takes you through the summer of that first true love. It will take you back to that place when those intense feelings made you say and do things you would never normally do. Decisions made that seemed so right at the time, only to come back to bite you later.

My last words of advice. Don't read this in front of the kids if you are prone to four word outbursts when reading. Because if you are anything like me, you will cuss almost every character in Emeralds at least once. Some of them more than that. I love when characters take me to the edge!!

Do I agree with the reviews so far? I do. Emeralds is another win from author KA Linde. You will enjoy this fast paced, hot, angst filled ride!

I thought Diamonds and Gold were fan-fucking-tastic and couldn’t get any better, boy was I wrong. Emeralds is by far one of Ms. Linde’s best books to date. Angst Queen has done it again and rocked my world with Trihn and Preston’s story. Get ready to swoon, love and then despise the characters in this book. As quickly as I fell in love with these characters, I fell in HATE even faster.

“I want to date someone because I like him, because I could fall in love with him. I want to be with someone who I could marry.”

Preston falls into Trihn’s life out of nowhere. This sexy, charming, sweet-talking man sweeps her off her feet and she has no choice but to fall deeply in love with him. He’s absolutely amazing and so damn swoon-worthy. Preston is definitely meant to be a top book boyfriend… until the Angst Queen works her magic and tramples all over your heart. No spoilers here, just make sure to have some liquor next to you and protect your kindle with an Ottorbox or something more protective because you WILL THROW YOUR DAMN KINDLE!!!!

“She wanted him to take what was his. She wanted to be his fully and completely.”

Gah! I’m still a mess over this book. Even though I am absolutely torn up inside and completely gutted, I still love Ms. Linde and her evil wickedness. I find myself thinking daily about Trihn and Preston’s beautiful love and can’t wait to find out what happens next in Platinum! It’s so difficult to write a review because one wrong thing will spoil the entire book for you and I definitely don’t want to do that. I want you to get on this ride and feel all the bumps exactly the same way I did. Hold on tight bitches, this is one bumpy ass ride and I can’t wait to hear what you all think about it.

I loved the other books in this series, and Trihn's story did not disappoint. We meet her right before she met Bryna and Stacia and the summer that changed her life. She just graduated high school and is about to move in with her sister Lydia in Manhattan. She meets Preston and he sweeps her off her feet. But throughout the book, there are signs that something isn't quite right with him, but makes excuses and Trihn keeps believing him. When she goes to the Hamptons for a family vacation everything comes out and OMG I couldn't believe it. In the beginning of the book, I loved her sister Lydia but by the end, she was repulsive. I really liked her friends Renée and Ian who didn't judge her and had her back, and in the end Trihn did what was best for her and moved to Vegas. I can't wait to see where her story leads.

If you’ve read the first two novels in this series, you know Trihn. She’s one of Bryna’s best friends in college. In the Rough could be considered a prequel or an introduction to Trihn before she decided to move to Las Vegas for college. It gives you more backstory about her personality and family. Trihn has always been a New York girl, a dancer, and an overachiever. The summer before her freshman year in college, she falls in love. She didn’t think this would happen because she’s never had room for boys or dating in her life. Preston completely sweeps her off her feet, and she falls deeply in love with him.

When I read any novel by this author, I always expect some drama or some big twist. K.A. Linde completely shocked me. I never saw it coming in a million years. I was outraged, and I couldn’t believe what was happening. I really liked the story up until after the big twist. I was hurt and sad, but I was pleased with the choice Trihn made. It was the right choice for her, and she definitely would need a fresh start.

I’m pleased with anything this author writes. She writes flawed characters, and about situations that feel real. Despite their being drama in her stories, the characters’ reactions are real, and not excessive most of the time. I’m curious to see where she takes Trihn’s story, and if side characters from this novel make an appearance in the next novel. Trihn deserves real love, especially after what she’s been through and in the present at college. I want her to find happiness, so I’m excited to see what happens to her next. I can’t recommend K.A. Linde enough.

Love it!! another outstanding read by K.A. Linde. In Emeralds we have the story of Trihn (Bryna's friend in Gold). we get to see how she was before she moved to Las Vegas and Why.

As I said before the story was awesome, it has angst, steaminess and heartache everything we love in a book, right?. Trihn is an amazing character, I felt she was very serious at times but I connected with her in that level because I'm exactly like, very serous person.

I won't go into much detail on the plot but I will tell you, is a rollercoaster of emotions and twist and turns that will keep you at edge. I can't wait for the conclusion of Trinh's story in Platinum(book#3) the ending wasn't a cliffhanger but it was definitely shocking, something that I wasn't expecting and can't wait to find out how it plays out in platinum.

I don't know what happened to my review I started writing on my phone a couple of days ago about this story. I love K.A. Linde's stories and especially about young people. Oh to be young and in love again. This story about Trihnity Hamilton was both interesting in that it let us know how Trihnity aka Trihn ended up in Las Vegas Nevada, going to LV University. We meet Trihn's family, her sister Lyndia aka Ly and her father Gabriel and her mother Lin who is an executive at Glitz magazine. This exposes maybe that Trihn maybe is a little but naieve or that her "first boyfriend" is an arrogant person who wants to have his cake and eat it too. This story was dramatic and a little bit romantic but it definitely enlightening to who Trihnity is: ballerina, dancer and model or just an inspiring designer. This was a prelude to Shine Bright and I know that I will enjoy the next story in the Diamond Series. Good Read.

A peek into Trihn's backstory had me hooked. I felt instantly protective of her as she tried to balance family expectations and her own goals and interests. It was easy to be suspicious of Preston. And the second half of the story I was hanging on to every sentence wondering how it was going to shake out. I'm really looking forward to reading more Trihn :)

5 Enthusiastic Stars!

Preston.....what a giant douche canoe! Wow...and is Lydia that vapid to think that he really wants just her!? Ugh....this book. So much background on a character that I already loved. Is it bad that I wanted her and Ian to get together, but now I am rooting for him and Renee? Cant wait to read the next book!

Unlike Bryna from the first two books, Trihn is just looking for true love, and she's totally blindsided when it turns out the man she's been falling for has been playing her.

Because of that I like this book, and Trihn, much more than Bryna in her two books. If Trihn has a fault, its being too trusting, and then she gets her heart trampled by multiple people.

There's certainly no happy ending here, as the story ends with Trihn fleeing to another state to lick her wounds.
