Everything you thought you wanted is about to change...

I've been manipulated in all the best ways! The. Best. Ways. K.A. Linde took everything from Avoiding Commitment and found a way to make it better. This was better. Better in a way that I did not see coming.

Don't get me wrong, this book will frustrate the hell out of you. There are times you'll want to punch Lexi right in the twat hole, grab Ramsey, then run! Wait...WHAT!?? Did she just say grab Ramsey? Hell yeah I did!

True, I was the captain of Team Jack and the grand master of the "Jack & Lexi getting it on" parade. Even though he was a total dick and a complete cum guzzler, I still wanted him with Lexi. I knew he was bad for her, but I want them together. I needed them together. I never even came close to wanting her with Ramsey. In fact, I was terrified of what this sequel would bring, terrified. Ramsey was just a secondary character and I wanted him to stay there. He didn't stay there.

After reading AC, if you would have told me that Ramsey was going to be so present in book two, my interest in reading it would have been a little less than zero! This is Lexi and Jack's story not Lexi, Jack, and, Ramsey's, but this is me admitting that I WAS WRONG!! Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. I LOVE RAMSEY and I was wrong! Ramsey instantly ripped off my Team Jack shirt with his bare hands and took me! He took me away from Jack and I never want to go back!

K.A. Linde took a huge gamble with Ramsey in AR...huge! But amazingly, she hit the jackpot rampot! She made me effin fall in love with Ramsey, HARD! You know how amazingly talented you have to be to change a readers mind like that?! Seriously!? Blown away!

Don't get me wrong, this book will piss you off just as much as the last. Yes, ALL the characters need several years of intense therapy and some highly potent psychotropic medication, but the emotional ride and drama is the driving force behind this series. A series that can intensely make you love and hate at the exact same moment. Many readers don't like this series because of the pure unadulterated frustration of it all. It will literally drive you insane, but do you know how invested you have to be in a story to go through the vast array of emotions that the Avoiding Series makes you feel? Let yourself feel and be thankful for it!

This was better than the first! Thank God it's not the last.

READ ON!!

Once I finished reading 'Avoiding Commitment', I immediately downloaded 'Avoiding Responsibility'. I was completely sucked in by this story and I couldn't wait to find out where Lexi's life was going to take her after the upset at the end of the first book. Even though Lexi epitomizes poor choices and a lack of self-respect, I cannot get enough of her story. I'm a masochist like that!

If you haven't read 'Avoiding Commitment', know that this review may contain some spoilers for that book. 'Avoiding Responsibility' is the second book in the 'Avoiding' series and the books should be read in order to maximize enjoyment and understanding of this story.

Back in New York City, Lexi is left to lick her wounds. Meanwhile, the planning for Jack and Bekah's wedding is underway. Talk about a nightmare! I spent a fair amount of time moping around, grieving and alternately raging, with Lexi for most of this book. It was just so unfair!

While Jack is relegated to a background role in this second book, Ramsey becomes a primary focus. Where Jack has left Lexi broken, Ramsey sweeps in to pick up the pieces. As much as I liked Ramsey - and I really did like him - I had "friend-zoned" him long ago. So, when Lexi begins to see him as more than a friend, I never really got on board with that.

It's a hang-up of mine. I always want the heroine to end up with the "first" guy that I experienced her falling in love with. (If that makes any sense.) Even though Jack was a complete and total douche, I was still doodling "Lexi + Jack forever" in my mind.

Since this book centers on Lexi and Jack moving on with their lives without each other, I was left with a hole in my chest. No matter how destructive, it was hard to let go of the idea of their love. It pained me.

While Jack and Lexi's relationship may have changed drastically, Lexi's tendency to make very poor decisions did not. Poor Lexi always settles for second-best. It was sad, really. My heart broke for her as she again picked a guy that would never place her first. Ramsey may have even grown to love her on some level, but it was clear that he was still hung up on his ex-girlfriend, Parker. I just kept thinking, "Man, Lexi really knows how to pick them!"

Of course, this book had several twists and surprises along the way. Jack may have been less of a central focus this time around, but he's still lurking in the background. No matter what they say, Lexi and Jack have not gotten past whatever it was they had together. Sparks fly and feelings get hurt. If you think you've seen the end of the drama surrounding these two, you'd be sadly mistaken. It isn't over, baby!

Overall, I am still loving this series. I am a sucker for an angsty, forbidden romance that rips your heart out. This story definitely delivers on that account. I plan to listen to the next book immediately. I am very thankful that I didn't read these books immediately upon their release. The wait for the release of the next books would have killed me!

I took a journey with this book! My stomach was in knots when I started it. The first book was so emotional and painful, I wasn't sure if I could handle more. But I am SO glad I dove in (bar of chocolate in hand, of course). What an amazing sequel! I think I felt everything that Lexi did. And the last few chapters...awesomely perfect! I'm still grinning over this one! Love the story, love the characters (even the ones I actively despise). Crossing my fingers for a third book!

5 DRAMA FILLED STARS

”I would do anything I could to go back to that time when we could have been together and change the way I acted. I’d change it, because we were fated to be together however brief, however unbelievable, however painful, however flawed.”- Jack Howard

That’s right readers… I read Avoiding Responsibility for the second time and I am NOT as convinced that Jack and Lexi belong together as I was originally. My man will have to work for it!

In Avoiding Responsibility, Lexi Walsh's heart is torn between three men: Jack, Ramsey, and Mystery Man. MM is quite intriguing and doesn’t come with a bag of lies (Ramsey) and commitment issues (Jack). He does however have some explaining to do when it comes to someone’s BFF.

Lexi finds herself once again in the mix of Bekah and Jack’s wedding preparations and upcoming nuptials. It will come as no surprise that Bekah Bridges is still a bitch in the sequel. Pookie and Chyna are good solid friends to Lexi and are fun characters. We also meet Dr. Parker Mackenson who has a lot of history with Ramsey.

This time around Lexi has grown up and has made some mature decisions.

”They had both run away to many times before. They were two peas in a pod, as much each other’s escape as the thing to run from. “

Lexi seems to have made a choice but there’s always hope as there will be a third book. I sure hope she doesn't end up with he who smells of peppermint!

Maybe, Jack Howard will grow the f-up!

Actions speak louder than words after all!

Once again, I am a mess. This emotional rollercoaster ride has come to an end; well, at least for now. Wow! This was just like the first book. My emotions were all over the place. Just check out my status updates, you’ll see just how screwed up I was. I literally had to take a break after every chapter and perform deep breathing exercises just to calm my ass down. I’ve never been so worked up before. This story, along with book one, has made a mess out of me. Do not fret…it’s a good type of mess ;-)

Immediately after I read this, a smile crept up my face. I loved the ending, though I wish there was an epilogue. **hint hint**. I’m sad that this ended and I’m hoping for more in the future, but for right now; for this very second, the biggest reason why I have a smile on my face is because I made it through intact and in one piece.

***Please do not read further if you have not read book one, Avoiding Commitment. Possible spoilers ahead***

♥♥ Ramsey ♥♥: I LOVE YOU. I LOVE YOU. I LOVE YOU. I LOVE YOU. You have earned a coveted place as one of my all time favorite book boyfriends. I do not care about your past. I don’t even care that you’re related to the evil spawn bitch Bekah. I LOVE YOU. What you did for Lexi is beyond sweet. You stayed by her side and stuck up for her and it was by far, the sweetest gesture you could’ve done to show her you loved her. My heart just melted. You are amazing!

Lexi: Chica, I’m so proud of you!!! Yes, I questioned some of your decisions, but we all have to learn from our mistakes. You definitely learned your lesson the hard way, and I’m so happy that Jack is now out of the picture. When you kneed him in the cojones, I screamed out, “yes! It’s about time!! Woohoo!!” You definitely earned the right to date my Ramsey. Please treat him good. If you hurt him, I will come after you!

Jack: I’m glad I denounced you after the first book. You haven’t changed one bit since the first book. I can’t believe all the extra drama you caused in this book. Ughh! Why do you have to be so freaking charming and sleazy at the same time Gahhh! I can never figure you out.

Bekah: I still hate you. More so now, than ever before. OMG! You are so f**king delusional! You are so malicious and callous. Jack will never fully love you.

Chyna & Adam: I’m so happy you two are together! I wish you two all the best. ♥

**SIGH** Ok. I’m totally spent. I love this book. I love both stories. They caused me nothing but angst and tons of emotional outbursts, but it was all worth it. When these two are officially available in book form, I will happily run out and add them to my shelf collection. They are a must have in my opinion. I never thought I would enjoy a story with so much torment and anguish, but K.A. Linde proved me wrong. A definite must read!

First, a letter to the person who made me read this book

I really should not have read this book. The first one really infuriated me (and you can check with my status updates), and this one was no different.

I absolutely adore Ramsey, and I know he had a past, but really, ignorance is bliss. I hated that this book attempted to make him look bad. Who cares? He was a bad boy who changed for the girl he loved. Totally swoon-worthy. Now stop tempering with my thoughts.

And Lexi - what do I say about her other than, "How stupid can she be?!?" I don't think you ever totally get over your first love, and Jack will always be out of reach for her. And she KNEW that, but she just couldn't help herself, and she ALWAYS managed to get herself in situations where she ended up alone with him. Yes, some of it, like Ramsey begging her to go to the wedding, was not her fault, but others, like when they were trying to escape Mr. Bridges, was just pure stupidity on her part.

With Ramsey? I understand that Lexi has been hurt by Jack in the past, and I'm surprised she's willing to jump into a relationship so fast. True, it was Ramsey who said he couldn't do the casual thing anymore, but still, Lexi was not totally blind that Ramsey had a past. But I was so tired of her whiny "he's a player" thoughts and her quickness to jump down his throat at every single thing that comes up - especially considering the sources these stories are coming from.

So to Lexi: Shut the hell up. And quit digging. You KNOW the guy has a past, and nothing good will EVER come out of it. Ramsey knew you had a past with Jack, and he forgave you for everything. Why can't you do the same for him? And cut the crap with the whole "because he lied to me" excuse. What exactly did you expect? If you can't see how much he has changed for you and how much he is doing for you, then you don't deserve him anyway.

I don't want to rant anymore. My head hurts from all the drama in this book. I can't take any more.

Spoiler Free Review Do not read if you have not read bk #1 in this series
4 STARS out of 5
Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance

HO.LEE.SHIT.
SCANDALOUS
That is the best word that comes to mind after reading this book. The lies and deception lives on in book two of the Avoiding Series. I read that when this book is re-released to the public in December it will have some changes and so will this review. Because I am so re-reading this book in December.

The story starts off when Alexa awakes in bed with a mystery man. A mystery man who remained as such until the very end of the book. Just as Alexa and our mystery man start to get reacquainted with one another her phone starts to ring. And if you are anything like me your thinking 'OH HELL NO' please don't let it be he who shall not be named **coughs and clears throat** Jack. Nope this time it is not Jack calling in the favor... This time it's Ramsey. Jack and Bekah's wedding is approaching and Ramsey has the audacity to ask Alexa to go as his date. Seriously, WTF!
Now once again just like with book #1 I can't say more without giving away the plot. BUT I will say this Lexi does turn Ramsey down to be his date yet her butt still ends up at the wedding. I'm sure you could have guessed that one. Right?! Exactly no surprise there.

OK screw it I will say more....

I actually loved Alexa and Ramsey together in this book I was so happy they gave love a try and everything is good. That is until lies come out and things suddenly end in disaster. Alexa really tries but when lies and drama fill her plate she pushes away from the table to full to accept anymore. Ramsey does his best to let her know he loves her and is willing to make it work; honestly though after how things go down it just becomes to much.

Thoughts
Dear readers,
I loved it!!! I like this authors style, I love how she is not afraid to take risk and leave the reader devastated by dropping SHOCKERS in your lap. In this book you get introduced to two new characters who play a HUGE role in our favorite characters lives and the impact for some is brutal. I never saw some of the twist coming and I was once again screaming OH HELL NO even as I read the very last page.

Characters
Ramsey Bridges- is HOT AS HELL I love his character. I enjoyed getting to know him as he fell head over heels in love with Alexa. Yes he F's up but all men have their moments.
Alexa- Finally shows some backbone and keeps Jack in place. And just like the little 'Beeyotch' he is he stay's there.*grins* I think the only problem I had with Alexa was the fact that she could not keep her legs closed. Again.
Jack- Never grew a pair. Hmmmm imagine that*smirks* I still loathe the guy.
Bekah- is still an evil B!#CH!
Chyna- well... Chyna is still Chyna.lol!

My Ratings
Characters- Conflicted, Cunning and villainous
Writing Style- Good
Plot/Stroyline- Good
Steam Factor- High/Very Steamy
Overall- I loved it!

Now go forth and read. Then come tell us all about it on Goodreads!

**************RE READING THE NEW VERSION...squeeeeeee******************

So I have to say that after reading Avoiding Commitment I had to jump in immediately and read Avoiding Responsibility!! The books are so captivating that you just can't pull yourself away. This book was just as angsty as the 1st book. We continue Lexi's journey to completely get over Jack and holy cow does this girl make some choices that make you scream "WHAT THE HELL"...lol! I'm not gonna go into to much of the plot because I feel like it gives the story away but Lexi leaves you feeling so frustrated sometimes. There is just something about Ramsey that makes this book my fav in the series so far, Ramsey was someone that I fell in love with in the 1st book and man he did not disappoint in this one! His story came out brilliantly, I loved all the little secrets we found out about him. Plot wise this book was awesome! I was rooting for Lexi and Ramsey the whole time and was totally thrilled with the ending!! This series is one of the best series I have read since the Thoughtless series by S.C Stephens and would highly recommend it. I can't wait to read more by K.A Linde, she is awesome :)

Before reading this review, I would suggest reading Avoiding Commitment, the first book in the series. See my review here. My review below has some spoilers from the first book. You don't want to miss reading these two books in order.

Avoiding Responsibility is the stellar sequel to Avoiding Commitment. It’s filled with passion, drama, angst, and lots of surprises. I didn’t feel near as exhausted or emotionally drained this time around. Don’t get me wrong, this was still an emotional rollercoaster, but I wasn’t seeing RED like I did in the last book. The best part about this book was Ramsey being the hero. That’s right ladies, Ramsey.

Avoiding Responsibility is told from Lexi’s POV in the present and past tense. It begins a year later, after Lexi left Jack Howard standing at the airport in Atlanta. After six years of being in a dysfunctional relationship as the other woman with him, she is finally ready to let him go. In a year, a lot can happen, including a new relationship with Ramsey Bridges. But unfortunately, Lexi and Ramsey have had a big falling out that leads to them breaking up.

This story begins with Lexi answering a phone call from Ramsey early one morning, pleading with Lexi to accompany him to Bekah and Jack’s wedding. Lexi is not only shocked to be hearing from Ramsey after they broke up a month ago, she’s also surprised he would have the nerve to ask her to go to their wedding. Lexi has absolutely no desire to be a part of their wedding. Seeing Jack could stir up old feelings that she does not want to feel again. With distance and time, she’s been able to heal. Not only that, she’s seeing someone else. A man she refers to as a mystery man the entire book.

Before they broke up, Ramsey and Lexi had a good thing going. They were in love. However, Ramsey made a huge mistake by keeping a secret from Lexi that in the end broke Lexi’s heart and her trust. Despite all that, she still misses him, and everything they had together during their year-long relationship. With a little bit of persistence, Ramsey finally talks Lexi into seeing him when he comes to New York. From there, things spiral out of Lexi’s control, and she finds herself agreeing to be Ramsey’s date to Jack and Bekah’s wedding.

Lexi has a lot of character development in this book. I’m so proud of Lexi in this book. She’s more mature, stronger, and makes better decisions. Oh, but Lexi is still Lexi. Not all of her decisions are the best ones, but she does grow from her mistakes. And this time, instead of running from her problems with Ramsey when things get tough in Atlanta, she faces them head on.

“I did and still do love you as much as when I first told you that night at the beach. You are the only woman I could think of being with from now until eternity."

Oh Ramsey, what a wonderful, awesome, beautiful hero he turned out to be. I knew there was something special about him since the first book. Even though Lexi fessed up to him about her and Jack’s sexcapades, he didn’t judge her. He remained true to her. He trusted her and loved her unconditionally. Not once did Ramsey’s feelings for Lexi ever waver. He never doubted how he felt for her. Even though he kept a big secret from her, he owned up to it. Not only that, when he lost Lexi, he did everything in his power to make things right with her, even if it meant making sacrifices for himself. Ladies, Ramsey is MINE. *wink wink*

The chemistry between Lexi and Ramsey is explosive. There was a lot of passion and fire between these two that I honestly felt. It was refreshing to feel positive about the man Lexi was with this time around, especially after how disgusted I felt when she was with Jack. Jack, the man she ruined relationships with, and betrayed people with. With Ramsey, she could start over and have a safe, normal relationship that had not been tainted by deception. Ramsey is the one and only man Lexi was able to connect with, and who could make her forget all about Jack Howard.

No, this wasn’t like Jack at all. Jack had taken over her world, and she had forced herself to push him out bit by bit. Ramsey had forced himself in her world bit by bit and filled a void she hadn’t known existed. And she knew all too well what is felt like being with and without Jack. Ramsey was something altogether different. The emotions he elicited from her were foreign, and thus, incredibly vivid because they had never been tamed, harnessed, or numbed over years of self-torture.

The Avoiding series has rocked my world. I am completely addicted to these drama-filled, emotional books. It’s fun to be so involved in these characters world. Their relationships are a train wreck. And they make so many mistakes that make you want to scream and cry. I get so caught up in living in these people’s heads, that when I come out of my emotional state and back to the real world, it feels surreal to be back in reality. Ms. Linde kept me guessing and constantly wondering what insane drama is going to happen next. And if you’re wondering who the mystery man is that I mentioned above, you will have to read the book. And with that said, I absolutely loved the ending, even with all the unresolved issues that I’m sure will be addressed in the third book. I strongly recommend this series and I’m very much looking forward to the third book.

In this book Lexi is a lucky lady, & has lots of men to choose from. We start out with a mystery man that is oh so yummy, that I really liked! Then of course their is Ramsey who takes up the majority of the book. We get a lot of answers about this past with Parker, and it makes me wonder if she is his meant to be. But he is also very sweet with Lexi, and really does seem to love her. He also lies a lot, and I find it hard to trust him at times. Even though he is likable in this book I still want it to be Jack in the end. I am hoping he gets his act together in book 3. I just don't feel the same intensity with the other men on the same level as Jack.

*HERE ARE SOME JACK QUOTES*

-Her memory was so vivid that sometimes it was as if she were reliving her past. The feel of his skin hot against her own, breathing in the salty air with rapid inhalations, his intense blue stare reflecting the ocean. She could feel him almost as if she were in the moment.

-She knew someone was watching her. She could feel the eyes from across the room. As her gaze found who was blatantly staring at her, her heart melted. "Jack," she murmured barely audible to the outside world.

-He smelled exactly the same. It was the exact scent of sex mixed with the most delicious cologne in the world. She hadn't realized, but when she thought about sex this was the smell that came to mind.

-She was where she was supposed to be. Jack was pressed against her, his lips pressed to her neck as he nuzzled close to her.

-He had been such a large part of her past that her future felt incomplete without him around. There were always those times when something happened, and her heart would ache for him. A hole was left in his absence and gradually it shrank, but it never completely disappeared.

-I just remember the man who loved me once," she muttered softly, her hear hurting at the admission. "It's like a moth to a flame."

-Jack had so much to do with who she was. He had changed her forever...for better or for worse. She liked to think he had done both.

-"It was like the sun only shined when we were together.

-"We have such a long history that when I look into his eyes that's all I can see.

 photo d1db63c2-36ab-4fb8-8d3d-3b425d897916.jpg

-She liked his smirk. She liked his blue eyes. She liked the way he brushed her hair back for her.

These books wore me out...and not in a good way. Only read if you want to punish yourself.
July 14, 2012
This story picks right back up from where Avoiding Commitment ended. Hopefully, Lexi has said goodbye to Jack for good so she can focus on her relationship with Ramsey.

Again, another rollercoaster ride of emotions! This series is like book crack and it probably would've been best for me to take a break between books but I just couldn't put it down. It's still told like the first book with the alternating chapters going from the past to the present and back. I still don't know if I like that or not. On one hand, you get to see how things in the past affect the future but it's also hard to keep track of some things.

On the downside, I think there were more spelling errors, etc, in this book. Most of the time that doesn't bother me but a couple of times, I had to go back and reread things. There were also a few things that I really wanted answered and weren't!! Like the ring and the significance of the weeping willow!

Lexi does grow some in this book but she still does dumb things. And with her growth, she has lost her patience with putting up with certain behaviors which helps her become stronger. Unfortunately, she has a whole new(old) set of problems with Ramsey.

Ramsey...I mentioned in my review for the first book that there was just something about him and I wasn't wrong. He does have a secret past and he still isn't forthright about things. I think that bothered me the most about him that he kept secrets from Lexi when he knew how much that would bother her and his reasons weren't very good. I really came to like Ramsey...much more than Jack and luckily for Ramsey, Lexi decides to make a change to make things work. I do have to say that how Ramsey acted at the end of the book impressed me.

Jack...yep, Jack is still here and still being a jerk. I was disappointed in him so many times and was saddened to learn even more bad things about him. I really hope he doesn't go through with things or Bekah doesn't.

And Bekah is still the Wicked Witch of the East...blah...such a horrible person. All I can say is thank goodness I don't know anyone like that in real life.

Chyna is still as wonderful as ever. We get to know more about her and see her deal with some bad and good things. Let's just say that the good things are really good.

There are some new characters and for the most part, I didn't care for any of them ~ especially Parker but I thought that Brandon was kind of funny.

The Mystery Man....I was totally fooled. Didn't see it coming. I thought it was who everyone else thought it was and I'm glad that it wasn't. Pay attention to the clues...although I'm not really sure that will help.

The ending? Well, I liked it. I thought it ended well. Granted not everything is wrapped up and I was hoping for an epilogue but was thrilled to hear that the author is talking about writing a third book.

Cover Talk: I like the cover but it seems to portray more of accepting responsibility instead of avoiding it. In all fairness, I guess that would be hard to do.

Kudos to K.A. Linde for creating two characters (Jack and Bekah) I disliked more than any other character I can think of right now. What a tumultuous read these two books were. I did not want to spend the past two days reading them back to back, but I could not put them down. I kept saying "just one more chapter and I will stop" but that did not happen, I had to find out how everything would turn out. I hung on to the very end and was rewarded with a very satisfying ending.
Nice job, K.A. Linde!

Well I am done I am also speechless. Imagine that! I will say even the premise of Lex going on this self loathing hell trip was like a kick in the ass. I was like girl, really, go hang out in Brooklyn and we will show you how to do a few things, lie, cheat, and even steal without getting caught! GGGRRR To say I was glue to the Kindle was understated. I am so in love with this one and hell I have a friend (Andi ILY babe @AndreaJo1113 ) that is the epitome of Chyna. There is nothing that can describe what a friend like that is truly like. When you have been everywhere, traveled, loved, lost, cheated, and been a family with a girl like that you really feel it.

Without writing a book jacket review I just say what and who I liked. When I say that the Ramsey and Lex thing was appealing to me and not so much Jack. In the first book I was like go do him and be happy (cause I would have done that 25 years ago) now in book 2 I was like dude u screw her up in life, love and career I'd choke him and dance on his grave in my red dress and Jimmy Choo spiked heels.

Ramsey evolved in a good way. It was hard to take his lies but for some reason I was like lie to me but dont leave. Makes me think of his really making a career change and being honest had to have been hard.

All in all I do see an opening at the end. Resolve yes, closure too a big yes, but maybe a Chyna spinoff?? IDK yet Im still trying to just sit and be happy

UPDATE 25.10.12 --- *facepalm* Same cover as In Bed with the Opposition by Stephanie Draven! :/

I love the ending! Wow! Talk about predicament for Lexi! Didn't see all of that coming! Not to mention the mystery man... who would have thought!

And I want my very own Ramsey! :)
I love Jack in book 1 but I'm all for Ramsey on this one. And for that im grinning like a cheshire cat! :)

Just got confused bout Parker's pregnancy though. It was never clear to me what really, truly happened to her. Was it A or B?

Other than that, Kudos to K.A. Linde for this awesome book! :)

3.5 stars. That's saying something, isn't it?

I can finally say that I'm done with this series. I had my eyes rolled at almost all the effin' scenes. Sighed like there's no tomorrow; I'd also CUSSED a LOT in DIFFERENT Languages I know (English--WTF is always there of course, Tagalog--which is actually sounds a lot like Spanish, Japanese and Korean); I also keep asking myself Why the hell am I doing reading this book? but of course I keep on reading.

Actually it's NOT that bad like the first book, I haven't smacked my head in the wall, just slapped my forehead once. And also I just feel like throwing a tantrum. Well, yeah, I was lying in my bed and I read this scene and I just moved my legs up and down against the bed with hands too. And moaned "What the fuck. Ugh. Huhuhu." Yep, feel like crying, I almost did. Thinking about it, it sounds bad...

Okay let me explain, all those actions I did was just once when Jack and Lexi met again in that huge house of Bridges. I am NOT sorry nor ASHAMED to admit that I skipped the part where there's a LOT of horny-like descriptions over Jack and how Lexi feels about his stare or whatnot. I don't give a damn about Jack. I only care about Ramsey. I honestly thought that Lexi didn't deserve Ramsey and she and Jack could both go to hell. But well, things change.

For one, Lexi tries to get over Jack. I give her that, but she could still be annoying as hell. I started to like her again during the confrontations with Jack and everyone. I even cheered when she did that to Jack! Way to go sister! That prick deserves it and I wish that she did that a long time ago. I proud of her. Okay, you could have the same name as me. :P

I know that Ramsey had some baggages too but I didn't expect THAT. Although I still like him a lot. I could say that he's really a LOYAL man. Totally opposite of Jack. I still don't get his devotion over Bekah. I thought there's more to it, not because they are brother and sister. I feel like there's something MORE in their childhood that made him that way to Bekha.

Mystery Man? Hell, I really thought it's Adam, or Brandon (Pookie, ;)), more on the former. I know that Adam is really attached to Chyna but I guess there's some signs that I clearly misunderstood. And Bekah? She could go to hell for all I care. She and Jack deserved each other. :/

"This is Bekah! She's only getting married once and you want to miss that?

I BEG to disagree. You could MARRY a LOT of times. You could marry different people too if you want. *rolled my eyes*

Confrontation scene is so EPIC. I like it. Finally everything is OUT and I'm glad how things ended for Lexi and Ramsey. Banzai for me for finishing this book and series! Now, I'm going back to my dose of YOUNG ADULT books. :)

OMG! WTF!!! So amazing

I'm giving this 5 stars because while reading this book I went through every possible emotion; rage, pity, grief, lust/love, more anger, disappointment and so much more. Anytime an author can make me feel so much that when I've finished their book I'm left exhausted and need to recuperate from reading a story... they've done their job, and very well.

Book one had me pulling my hair out and on an emotional cliff. It took me a full day to remember that it was a book and not my life or that of a friend! (thank god) I felt absolutely destroyed by the end of the book and needed a follow-up with a better ending even if it wasn't necessarily a happy ending.

Avoiding Responsibility gave me exactly what I needed. I will say that I was most definitely pissed that Lexi continued to struggle with Jack. Actually she continued to struggle through the book until the end with almost every part of her life. I really appreciated the fact that K.A. Linde didn't end the book before opening Lexi's eyes. (You were never really special. Jack slept with you and cheated on you like he did with every other woman he met) I quickly got over the Lexi and Jack relationship. In fact I crossed my fingers hoping and praying that she would stay away from him and concentrate on her other relationships (Chyna and Ramsey). Finally when chips began to fall Lexi stepped up and accepted responsibility for everything that she'd done – her past and present. In that moment K.A. Linde showed her readers that Lexi had grown up. The feelings and emotional connection she thought she still had with Jack were gone and she was holding onto feelings from the past. She realized she couldn't continue to harp over him or she would only continue to destroy her life.

I love the character development, the best I've come across in a long time, or maybe it was the overall story line, but I'll just say both. I actually connected with the characters. I can go on and on and on about all the different ways this book made me view young women and their decisions with love and relationships, myself when I was in my early twenties, how some are blinded by what they think is love, how others just take, take and take, I don't have all day and I'm sure most have already left my review. lol

So I'll end it here... K.A. you have out done yourself. It's not everyday that I read a book and end up
telling everyone I know to please go buy it and read it and discuss it with me afterwards! Can't wait to read more of your work.

Fantastic sequel!!! I was just as captivated as I was with Avoiding Commitment. I can't tell you how scandalous the dissension!!! Angst, doesn't even cover it. It is just down right dysfunctional!!!!!

It is also fascinating to see the characters evolve. They are such dynamic entities; never a dull moment. Each and every character transforms in some way or another. Changing in ways that either bring them into a beautifully enlightened maturity, or transforms them into a lamentable being so low that they forever elude redemption.

Lexi begins this story trying to regain her composure, and to resurrect what is left of her self esteem, after being completely rejected and humiliated by the love of her life, her non-ex-boyfriend, Jack. The man who had always used her unwavering love for him against her, to manipulate and control her. And although she struggled through some weak moments through the story, boy does she transform into a pillar of strength by the end of the book. It was utterly thrilling to see her finally grow up, and exude the class and self-confidence that she has come to possess. Truly refreshing.

And then there is Ramsey....the brother of her ex-lover's fiancé. (that sentence alone sounds twisted, does it not?) Ramsey, with the shady past and the obvious loyalty to his sister Bekah, who is no other than the female Anti-Chist. But Ramsey is complicated. He is in love, and he is trying to change his ways. He wants so desperately to be worthy of Lexis' love, that he is willing to deceive her, to keep her from learning about his less than honorable past.

This book, as was the first in the series, was completely addicting. The twists and turns in the story were compelling. I once again, was unable to put the book down The only criticism I will share, is that I didn't like the alternating chapters of past and present. I think I would have preferred to have the events unfold in a sequential pattern. I found it annoying to keep going from past to present. Not that it was hard to keep up, i just thought that it made the story a bit choppy.

I'm giving this one 5 stars. Even though I would have liked a more straightforward layout. I just loved the story and the evolution of Lexie!

I hope the sequel is underway... I'm dying to know where they will go from here!!! I must say that I love the way the K A Linde ends her books!!!!

I am woman hear me roar! That was my caption toward the last few chapters. I loved this book.

I was sucked in again as Lexi's story has progressed to a year further than where it left off. Written in the same style as Avoiding Commitment, this book was just as beautiful, if not more. As I finished book one my emotions were raw, just as Lexi's would have been. It didn't take long, however, to understand what a difference a year makes. With Ramsey being the focus of this book, you learn he has earned his own place in Lexi's heart as well as mine. I loved this story even more than the first. You get the best of both stories in one, Jack and Bekah are still involved, as Lexi focuses on starting her career and becoming a better person with the help of Ramsey.

This story left me jumping up and down, clapping, and a little proud (as if I had anything to do with it) I guess that's my point though, I was so invested in the story and characters, that I was proud. I need more books by this author, I was taken along on a ride and became so immersed in the story, I felt as if I were watching it unfold in theater.

Oh, and Chyna was awesome in the last chapter, as was everyone. All the characters played their parts well. I loved, loved, loved the ending of this book!! Where it did leave everything completed, I hope there will be more to come, maybe less drama. (Oh, who am I kidding, I love drama) I want to see how it plays out five years from now!!!

Read Avoiding Commitment first, then READ THIS BOOK!!!

Okay, this was fantastical- just as good as the first for me... I just couldn't put it down once I started it! I was a nervous wreck through a lot of the book (especially the last 25-30%) but it ended in a way I was happy with and left me wanting more... a third book please?!? Anyway, Lexi was the same to me, I wanted Jack to be better, I really had high hopes for him but he shows his true colors as always. Bekha is still an evil wench ugh can't stand her. Ramsey I just love him, I know he has made some mistakes but he makes up for them and is totally forgivable! Chyna, I just love her, she is someone Lexi needs in her life. Not sure how I felt about Parker, I didn't really care for her but I didn't dislike her as much as I did Bekha... Enough rambling from me... If you haven't read the first book (Avoiding Commitment) Pick it up and read it now!!!

2.5 stars but I rounded down :(

I was so excited about this sequel. I really enjoyed Avoiding Commitment. Even though it was so super frustrating, it hooked me. Lexi was a weak lead who drove me insane - yet I rooted for her throughout the book. As hot as Jack was, in the end, I was happy to see Lexi finally stand up for herself and show some dignity.

Despite my efforts - I just couldn't connect with Avoiding Responsibility. It was too all over the place. And I expected some more maturity from Lexi during the time that had elapsed. She was going to be an ATTORNEY... yet was still so flaky and weak and just pathetic. I couldn't take her seriously. Not to mention the repeated references to how petite and ridiculously hot she was just turned me off. And the side stories were just too much. I really couldn't have cared less about her friend Chyna. Not to mention all of the other characters that drifted in and around. Brandon?? Really, what was the point?!?!?!

Ramsey was not hot enough - just a lukewarm placeholder. The fact that he knew there was something between Lexi and Jack and seemed to continually tolerate it - I just didn't have respect for him. And all the secrets... Can anyone just confront anything - out loud? Lexi's never ending inner questioning was exhausting and irritating.

I wanted to see more of Jack. I don't even care if he stayed with Bekah and continued to toy with Lexi. Not that I wanted to see Lexi continue to play herself out but to me, this series is about Lexi and Jack. If there is a 3rd book - don't know that I will bother.

*slight spoilers*

This book, much like Avoiding Commitment, made me mad. It was almost uncomfortable to read. So much drama, so much angst. I think because you are reading he past AND the present there is just never a break from it.

I loved Ramsey. I really did, even in book one but even I couldn't trust him after all his lies! Some were small, some were understandable but the big picture is he lies...a LOT. And he's going to be working with Parker? No way buddy! I'm glad they stayed together in the end but I never really felt that he understood the severity of his lying or that he was even that sorry about it. I was not convinced that he won't continue to lie when he thinks the situation calls for it. :-/

Lexis was NOT a likeable character for me. She is selfish and severly co-dependent. That "relationship" with Jack was beyond toxic and I get that (who hasn't been there?) but there wasn't even one person she wouldn't hurt for Jack. Her walking off with him at the brunch when she's there with 'Ramsey?! WTH?! It was realllly nice to see her have some revelations by the end of the book and get her head on straight.

The end of the book is why I can give it 4 stars. As mad as I was and as much as I wanted to throw my Kindle, the last 10% made it all worth it. It was great. Absolute perfect ending. I can finally sleep now know that Jack (ick) and Bekah (@#$!&) will make eachother absolutely miserable!

Ok, now I get why everyone was saying that Jack and Bekah deserve each other...I just realized how much of an ass Jack is! He's charming all right, but, like Lexie, I just felt out of love with him...I loved him in the other book, and I now I see him, for the weak character that he has. Love Ramsey!!! I now that I said in my review of the previous book I hated him, but now I can finally see who he is!!! K.A. Linde made an AMAZING work with this two books, I felt just like Lexie...I changed my opinion like her, and I saw the characters for who they were!!! I hope there is a third book, I wanted to see more of Lexie, Ramsey, Chyna, Adam and Brandon (love him too)! And I also want to know what happens with Bekah and Jack...I gotta say I still have a little spark of hope that he and Lexie could work out together, but I honestly don't see how...Really enjoyed this books, I read the two of them in just 4 hours, just devoured them!!! Love the story and the characters. Can't wait to see more of K.A.'s work, she has an amazing gift, not every author has the gift to make you fell like their characters, and in this books, you can feel like Lexie, Ramsey and Jack, that's how it is so difficult to let go of their fellings, or the way they are together...Congratulations on her for such a good work!

Ok...I'm not gonna lie. I have been rooting for Jack and Lexi to work things out since the first book. They've been through a lot together and to me, it honestly looked like they were meant for each other. At least that's what I kept telling myself. Then Ramsey came along and showed her that it doesn't always have to be cheating and heartache...yes he lied to her...but usually under the pretenses that he thought it was best for her or to surprise her (something along those lines). The end of this book had me reading so fast cause I could't wait to figure out what happened! I was so shocked at some of the stuff that was said but I knew it would have eventually came out. I was so proud of Lexi at the end of this book that I wanted to jump up and give her a big high five and a hug...only if she was real of course! lol Ahh...I want to say exactly what happened! ....but I don't want to spoil it for anyone so....GO READ THIS SERIES ALREADY! :o)
K.A. Linde had me on an emotional roller coaster with both of these books. I absolutely LOVED them though. She is definitely going on my top fav authors list after reading these books!

So whaaa? We never find out if the wedding happens? And Jack... I do kind of want you to redeem yourself even though Ramsey is so completely perfect :/ And thank God Lexi finally stood up for herself and the truth, and kicked him in the balls. That was nice :) It was a great ending. When she's with Ramsey it's fantastic, but the profound connection she has with Jack is just...beautiful and heartbreaking...you just know they could have had some epic love if he wasn't a douche :/
Ugh, Jack and Lexi have me all kinds of fucked up :( I think I need a tub of cookie dough ice cream to process...

My Thoughts......

Avoiding Responsibility and Avoiding Commitment were definite page turners! I want to commend K.A. Linde for writing these two books, it was a cray wild ride! I couldn't put either book down, I was glued to my ipad and stayed up way to late reading because quite frankly I was greedy and couldn't get enough. I loved the characters, even hated some of them at times...well except Bekah I hated her through out both books and that is all I'm going to say about her. Lexi..poor..Lexi, Jack put her through HELL and she let him, she just couldn't get enough, she was addicted to him and to some extent I think he was addicted to her also....in a nutshell they were toxic. Lexy's description of hers and Jack relationship is perfectly described to Ramsey under the willow upon his request,
"We have such a long history that when I look into his eyes that's all I can see. I forget the stupidity of what we've done and who could get hurt. I just remember the man who loved me once"
— K.A. Linde (Avoiding Responsibility (Avoiding, #2). Moving on to Jack he was a sexy bastard I'll give him that and I also secretly loved that blue-eyed devil, but damn he was such an ass-hat!!! I wanted him to change so badly...but whatever. Ramsey was just yummy!! I'll have to admit I didn't like him at first, I know please don't scream at me I know he was everyone's favorite but he really grew on me in the second book. I loved his devotion to Lexi even knowing about the twisted crazy relationship she had with Jack. If it wasn't for him I don't think she would have ever worked Jack out of her system. So to sum it up I loved it and the last few pages were great with everyone's dirty laundry coming out!

*** REREADING NEWLY PUBLISHED VERSION***

I went into this book completely unsure of how I wanted it to turn out. I loved Jack and then I hated Jack and then I loved him again and then I hated him again.
I felt such a pull to his character throughout the course of the two books, but then he would do something so unbelievably stupid and selfish and I was back to questioning what I felt about his character. So I could definitely understand and appreciate all of Lexi's internal battles when it came to Jack.
And I must say I really felt for Lexi during this book, these guys in her life were just not giving her a break!
Having said that I was extremely content with where Lexi ended up. I wasn't sure if I was rooting for Jack or if I was rooting for Ramsey or if I was simply rooting for anything anti- Bekah. OK... I was secretly still rooting for Jack even when I wanted to punch him in the nuts. But the ending felt right, it left me questioning the sanity of a few of the characters, but I was also very proud of others.
I look forward to the next instalment and seeing where it's going to take us!

3 1/2 Stars

A good follow up to Avoiding Commitment and I did enjoy Book 2 more than Book 1, but it wasn't a pretty love story to me. It never really made me feel good and I didn't root for most of the characters to get a happy ending. It was a very interesting plot with all the broken relationships and the best part was Ramsey. I also would have liked a little more story after the book ended.

I can see this book scoring high with many because it was realistic and edgy. The characters were no where close to perfect. They were selfish and self centered and had major morality issues. I think if I would have liked the heroine, Lexi, better I would have enjoyed it more. She did become smarter regarding Jack in Book 2, but I don't think she deserved Ramsey.
