Publisher Description

A hookup doesn’t have to mean just once. Right?

Brandon Smith

Keep it easy. Keep it fun. Never hold on. That sums up my relationship goals, with hockey teams and with women. I learned early on that love and family equals fights and heartache. So I’m always moving on to the next team, the next hookup, before things turn sour.

When I meet Lola at a tropical beachside bar, it’s the perfect set up for a little hot vacation sex. She’s gorgeous, funny, and most importantly, leaving for home tomorrow. But this time, I have a sinking feeling I’ll be sorry to see her go.

Lola McGrath

I knew after that night in Aruba I’d never see Brandon again. That’s fine; I’m too busy vying for the corner office to make time for relationships. But when our paths cross again in New York, our sizzling attraction leads to “just one more night”. Then another. And another.

We never meant to become friends with this many benefits. Especially the one neither of us ever expected—or thought we wanted.

Honesty!

I really enjoy reading Ms Jamieson’s books and this is no different. One of the things that I liked was the honesty and how up front both Brandon and Lola were about their “relationship”. Of course, that was until their relationship seemed to become a real thing, then they tried to avoid it, until they couldn’t. I really felt Lola’s dedication to her job. As a woman, she has a tough road ahead of her in trying to advance in her career. They both had to have some honest conversations with people that they love to be able to take the next step. One of the things that I like about reading about hockey is the camaraderie of the players and their families.

Good Hands

It was really good as a regular romance book. The part where Lola learns about her work style and it’s impact on her career is fascinating. That is a huge thing for a lot of women and I was excited to see that addressed.

As a hockey romance it was okay, but disappointing. It had little actual hockey and what it had was from the perspective of briefly hearing about it, not in the way of experiencing a game as you are reading it. I had read a book by a husband/wife author duo whose books included hockey games and another author whose books included games that were so amazing, so real, that it’s hard to read the usual “hockey romance“ books anymore.

If you know that and are okay with it, this book can be enjoyable.

Fun read

This was fantastic and funny. I loved the pick up lines and hook up stories. The characters were fantastic and the story has humor and modern romance.
