Superb Chambered Solidbody From Godin
The Godin Summit Classic semi-hollowbody electric guitar gives you the versatility you need for serious genre hopping. The Summit Classic is constructed with a carved swamp ash top on a chambered Spanish cedar body, giving it a distinctively resonant tone that gets pumped out to your amp by two custom Seymour Duncan humbuckers. In addition, Godin equipped this guitar with an integrated LR Baggs T-Bridge piezo system that gives you access to a huge range of organic acoustic tones. If you've been wanting a semi-hollowbody guitar with top-quality tonewoods, appointments, and craftsmanship, the Godin Summit Classic deserves your serious consideration.
Premium Seymour Duncan humbuckers
For the Summit Classic, Godin went to the guitar pickup gurus — Seymour Duncan. The Custom SH-11 humbucker in the bridge position combines medium-hot output with the warmth of an Alnico 2 bar magnet, for beautifully fat, snarling tone with singing highs and creamy lows. The SH-11 delivers the complex midrange harmonics of a hotter pickup for low-midrange crunch that brings your chords to life, while its fat treble response gives your solos a sweet, round, soaring quality. In the neck position, Godin chose a Seymour Duncan Jazz SH-2N: a bright, incredibly versatile, vintage-output humbucker that retains clarity even when you're playing with extreme high gain. The SH-2N uses an Alnico 5 bar magnet and special coil winding that give it glassy treble response and tight yet full bottom end, while scooped mids help maintain excellent note definition, even with heavily distorted high-speed picking.
The look and sound of exotic tonewoods
When people see you holding your Godin Summit Classic, chances are they're going to assume it cost a lot more than it does. That's because the unique grain and highly variegated figuring of its carved swamp ash top and Spanish cedar body has the look of exotic tonewoods you see in guitar collectors magazines. And once your fans hear the Summit Classic, it's hard to convince anyone how little you spent on this magnificent instrument. The fact is, the choice of these abundant, rapidly renewable, and gorgeous tonewoods comes at absolutely no expense to the sound of this guitar — in fact, it's one of the things that makes the guitar experts at Sweetwater love it so much. We also have to give kudos for the choice of Richlite for the fingerboard. Richlite may look and feel silky smooth like ebony, but the inertness of this premium, high-tech composite makes it a superior fingerboard material in the estimation of many guitarists and luthiers.
Combining vintage class with modern precision
Godin guitars are very popular, and that's because the company is crafting well-designed, high-quality instruments from premium materials, using sound construction techniques — and offering them at a more than reasonable price. The Summit Classic is Godin's take on a chambered solidbody with a carved top. From its choice tonewoods and innovative internal chambering scheme to its exceptional electronics, Godin exercised fresh, innovative thinking to marry vintage aesthetics with modern tone and playability. The result is a guitar that looks like it wandered straight out of the mid-twentieth century, but with the optimized sonics and playing ease you expect in a state-of-the-art 21st century instrument.
