First off, the "slate" is a gray blue color, much lighter and more blue than in the picture. The watch itself is on the large size, which I love. It has a big, easy to read face. I typically wear a women's size large glove to give context to the picture.
The watch is amazing!!! I had a similar Garmin Vivoactive HR for 6 years that I put through the ringer- mountain biking, endurance racing, surfing, you name it - that poor watch had done it. And it held up amazing for 6 years. When it finally crapped out and I settled on this one. For me, this watch has everything I care about for tracking activities; primarily distance, elevation, pace and heart rate. I also love the music capabilities (you need to have your phone on you, but you can control music from the watch face) and that you can read texts and see who is calling from your wrist.
I find it to be extremely comfortable, especially for the larger size. The screen is crystal clear and the functions are easy to navigate. I've had it for 3 months and so far I am beyond impressed with every facet of this watch.

The watch does okay. I find the sleep is far from accurate and my mileage is always quite a bit off from the distance I actually go.
My biggest complaint is the rashes the watch itself causes. I clean it daily and take it off to shower to clean the skin under it. Wherever the watch head touches a rash starts and grows into a blistering and itchy mess. I’ve tried wearing it looser and there’s no difference. I have to go a month without wearing it to clear up the rash just to have it appear again. I bought the same watch for my partner and my brother. They both ended up returning for the same issue. Unfortunately I waited to long to determine this watch doesn’t do exactly what I wanted and that the cause of the rash was the watch face not the band. Highly disappointed. I’d return if possible.
