I've been running an i7-2700k for years as Intel has failed to provide any strong reason for me to upgrade but in all that time I've had the Intel stock cooler on it. About six months ago I switched to this cooler and what a huge difference! My CPU operating temperatures tumbled dramatically from their previous highs all and this cooler barely breaks a sweat. At idle, the CPU never leaves room temperature by more than a couple degrees.
It is also much quieter than the Intel stock cooler and combined with my 200mm case fans, the overall system now makes a much more ear pleasing low pitched hum rather than the jet like buzz cutting through from the old cooler.
With the drastically increased thermal performance, I went ahead and overclocked up to 4.2GHz and am still running lower temperatures than I was with the stock cooler at 3.5Ghz.
