FITS ON ELECTRIC, GAS, SOLAR, HYBRID, INDIRECT AND GEOTHERMAL WATER HEATERSCorro-Protec anodes fit in all water heater tank types (excluding tankless models which do not have an anode). When you choose a Corro-Protec powered anode rod, the capacity of your water heater is what really matters. Standard tanks are between 40 to 89 gallons and will require our 40-89 gallons model. Our anode rod can be installed in both new water heaters and existing ones. |
4 MODELS FOR RESIDENTIAL TANKS BETWEEN 10 AND 120 GALLONS & 1 MODEL FOR RV SUBURBANThe Corro-Protec powered anode rods fit several brands such as: American, A.O. Smith, Ariston, Bosch, Bradford White***, Buderus***, Giant, John Wood, Kenmore, GWS, State, Lochinvar, Reliance, Rheem, Richmond, Rinnai, RUUD, Stiebel Eltron, Whirlpool, U.S. Craftmaster, and more. *** We offer a specific model for Bradford White water heaters that often require fitting into the hot water outlet instead of the dedicated anode port. |
CORRO-PROTEC IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IF YOU HAVE A WATER SOFTENERCorro-Protec anodes are safe with any water sources (city and well water) and water treatment systems (water softener, filtration, reverse osmosis, etc.). It's worth knowing that water softeners can be very aggressive in causing corrosion because soft water is conducive, and thus prone to, corrosion. Additionally, they can promote the growth of Sulfur Reducing B (SRB), which is typically responsible for the rotten egg smell in hot water. The Corro-Protec powered anode rod will automatically adjust its current to provide optimum corrosion protection. |
24-HOUR ROTTEN EGG SMELL ELIMINATION IN HOT WATER
Corro-Protec will remove the sulfur smell from well water and city water and is especially effective in hot water.
No matter what causes the sulfur odor in your hot water, the Corro-Protec powered anode rod offers a reliable and cost-effective solution for neutralizing it. Moreover, it is a time-efficient answer to your problem, as it requires no maintenance and does not involve the use of chemicals like hydrogen peroxide or bleach.
Once the system is operational, the energy projected by our powered anode rod will prevent these unpleasant smells for years to come! If the foul smell also originates from the cold water, it means that your water source is contaminated. In that case, Corro-Protec will help by reducing the odor in hot water but won't solve this issue in cold water.
Sulfur smell in hot water is a common issue around North America and affects both new and old water heaters. Rest assured, Corro-Protec is your trusted solution to effectively eliminate this persistent problem.
STOPS CORROSION INSIDE THE TANK & PREVENTS WATER HEATER LEAKS
Our Corro-Protec anode combined with the electrical current will provide added corrosion protection and increase the lifespan of your hot water tank.
Our technology provides a layer of permanent corrosion protection on the internal solders and weak points of the tank.
This technology is recognized by corrosion specialists and has been laboratory tested. We believe that powered anode rods should be installed in all water heater tanks to increase their lifespan.
Replacing magnesium or aluminum anodes every year ensures a protection from corrosion; however, the use of material depleting returns to diminishing effectiveness over time.
Moreover, powered anode rod greatly reduces the amount of water heater parts in the landfill every year when corrosion takes over and damages the tanks. Postponing disposal is essential for promoting sustainable practices.
REDUCES SEDIMENT BUILDUP AND LIMESCALE
The formation of limescale can cause a variety of costly issues, including the rehabilitation of water pipes and heating installations, as well as considerable energy losses.
The Corro-Protec powered anode is then used to break apart calcium molecules found in the water, preventing further calcite formation and compromising the formation of limescale which is usually left behind by hard water when it evaporates (water with high mineral count).
Limescale water can have negative impacts on the scalp and causes brittle and dull hair.
CLOUDY WATER AND AIR IN HOT WATER LINES
Air in hot water lines is a common problem and can be caused by various factors.
Corrosion inside water heaters is one of the most common causes, as it produces hydrogen which builds up and is released when hot water is used. Corro-Protec powered anode rods prevent and stop the corrosion process inside the tank.
Factory-installed magnesium anodes may also produce some hydrogen; however, it usually has no impact on water pressure. Finally, turning off the water supply or performing maintenance work can also allow air to enter the system.
Stop corrosion and the bubbles all at once!

Corro-Protec Powered Anode Rod (titanium) VS Sacrificial anodes (magnesium, zinc and/or aluminum)
A safe and small amount of current induced in the water heater tank by the powered anode rod
The Corro-Protec anode uses a completely different technology than sacrificial anode.
This technology will last much longer and will offer better protection to your tank.
Corro-Protec powered anode rods are Smaller, More Durable (20 years) & Better than any sacrificial anode rods.
- Corro-Protec anodes are continuously tested in our lab in order to offer you safe and effective products.
Anode rod for hot water heater
CORRO-PROTEC POWERED ANODE ROD HAS BEEN DESIGNED AND TESTED TO LAST FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS
When a hot water tank is exposed to corrosive water, the sacrificial anode will transfer electrons to the inner side of the hot water tank to protect it. The anode will slowly deplete. After a year or so, there will be no more protection.
To protect your tank, replace the existing anode with a Corro-Protec Powered Anode Rod and connect the current rectifier. Our Corro-Protec combined with the electrical current will provide improved corrosion protection & increase the life of your water heater.
- Powered anode rods are made of stable materials (titanium) that do not disintegrate like sacrificial anode (magnesium, aluminum and zinc).
- A powered anode rod generates permanent protection instead of temporary protection.
- Doesn’t require any maintenance like sacrificial anodes.
- 12-inch long powered anode rods greatly facilitate installation in restricted space.
- Safe to use with a water softener, and well and city water.

Powered anode rods prevent problems, not create new ones.Uncertain about the existing anode's location? Whether it's in a dedicated port or integral to the pipe nipple in the hot water outlet, consult your digital or printed water heater owner's manual for easy guidance. Dual anodes? One Corro-Protec powered anode is enough, so leave one of the existing anodes in place, and it won't cause any problems. Hard-to-remove anodes or stripped top nut? Our installation manual provides valuable tricks, including the use of a breaker bar and impact wrench. Consider our 'Bradford White anode model' as your final solution, installable in the hot water outlet. Tight clearance? Cut the existing anode into pieces, use pliers to ensure that it doesn't fall into the tank, and install our 12-inch Corro-Protec powered anode rod. |
Maintenance made simple, enjoy peace of mind.Switch to durable solutions as the Corro-Protec powered anode rod and move away from temporary chemical treatments. Methods like chlorinating the inner shell, injecting hydrogen peroxide, or using a well sanitizer kit may address smelly water issues temporarily. However, these solutions provide only brief relief. Draining the water heater annually is recommended. But if you find yourself needing to drain it every month or so, it's an utter waste of time and effort, especially when a permanent solution is available. Eliminate the sulfur smell by installing the Corro-Protec powered anode. It's designed not only to protect the inner shell from corrosion but also to prevent Sulfate-Reducing B (SRB) from thriving. This stops the chemical reactions that cause the sulfur smell, ensuring your hot water remains fresh and odor-free for years to come. |
Every small effort counts. Save money while helping the environment.First and foremost, installing the Corro-Protec powered anode in your water heater will help you save money on parts and tanks by extending the lifespan of your equipment and avoiding programmed obsolescence. Additionally, to save on energy costs, consider choosing an Energy Star unit paired with the powered anode to further safeguard your appliance. Delaying the disposal of your water heater is crucial for the environment, as it helps reduce unnecessary waste in landfills. Consider this: more than 8 million water heaters and parts are discarded every year. Imagine the environmental impact of cutting this number in half. Protecting the inner shell of your water heater with cathodic protection is the best long-term solution available. Corro-Protec offers its anode rod designed to last 20 years. It's a safe and easy way to reduce landfill waste! |

A few notes about the installation, which others have mentioned. If you have never removed an old anode rod, read up on it first. Also understand that it can be very tight. You will need a 1 1/16" socket. Do not use a 12-point socket. A six-point is better and an impact socket is best. They have deeper notches that are less likely to slip on the tight bolt head. I also used an 18-inch breaker bar for more leverage. This worked well for me and the old rod came out easily. Sometimes it can be tougher.
The instructions for the powered rod are very good. The socket that removes the old rod is too small for the new one, which is 1 3/16" or 31mm. If you have a fairly large adjustable wrench, this will work well because the powered rod is not recessed, the bolt head sticks up a couple of inches. Use plumber's tape on the threads. The power connection has two leads, one which slides onto the terminal on the top of the rod and the other needs to contact some metal part of the heater itself. Just unscrew one of the small cover screws on the heater and attach the wire there. Make sure that none of your wires is near a hot water pipe or the flue of a gas heater. Then just plug it in. If the green light comes on, you're good to go. This product worked so well that my only complaint is that the green light seems way too bright. I put a couple of layers of masking tape over it and it's still bright. Great product.

Within a few hours my wife took a shower and to my surprise there was 0 sulfur smell. I will say if your hot water smells like sulfur, this product works phenomenally. I can't speak for longevity because it's only been installed for two days, but I can speak to the immediacy in which it resolved my stinky showers. 10/10, buy this product.
Initially I put addressing it on a later to-do list as it wasn’t that bad. However, as time went on I started to notice that it was only when turning on the hot water did the smell emerge. We thought it was maybe the well itself that needed to be treated again until I narrowed it down to the hot water.
After leaving on travel for three weeks we came back to discover that the smell was magnified. After a hot shower, the entire bathroom smelt like rotten eggs.
I did some research and discovered this product. Many were saying that I needed to switch out my hot water heater anode rod but no one mentioned the Corro-Protec Powered Anode Rod. I’m surprised.
I decided to give it a shot as the company’s website has a lot of insightful information not just on the product, but also on what causes the smell and hot water heater protection in general.
I am honestly shocked. When it first arrived, it seemed a little small for what they claimed it could do. I followed their size guide and installed with a bit of skepticism. However, within a couple hours of install I noticed the smell was fainter than pre-install. The company says it takes about 24hrs but I definitely noticed a difference almost right away. Of course, you run the tap a bit to get the old water cycled out. After a day and as of today, several days later, the rotten egg smell is completely gone. I am still baffled as to how this works so well, but it is worth every penny if you have the same issue. Hands down a 5 star product. Hopefully it lasts at least 10-15 yrs before replacing.
In terms of installation. The steps themselves are easy when installing the product. My case was not simple because I have a brand new water heater and had to dig out styrofoam to get to the original anode rod. I also needed to purchase some additional sockets and use an impact wrench due to how tight the original one was.

Easy to install, even in my low crawl space. I had to cut my old one out because it was a long bar but this one being short was an easy install.
