Product Description
These are the latest additions to the G-SQUAD lineup of sports watches from G-SHOCK, which are equipped with heart rate monitor and GPS. Useful workout functions include an optical sensor for heart rate measurement, along with bearing, altitude/barometric pressure, and temperature sensors, and an accelerometer for step counting. These five sensors help to keep you in close touch of your current activity in real time. The ability to receive GPS signals lets you access location information when you need it. This, when used in combination with the stopwatch, makes it possible for you to keep track of running information like distance, speed, pace, and more. Your heart rate and speed is used to calculate a VO2 max value, which is an indicator of your cardio-pulmonary capacity. This measurement is useful when trying to increase stamina for running and other activities. In addition, new phone apps are now available to help you configure watch settings more easily and manage your workouts. You can monitor your current fitness level and training progress, and even automatically create a training plan based on targets specified by you. VO2 max calculation and other data analysis capabilities use a library by FIRSTBEAT, a renowned sport science company. Algorithms of improved accuracy support a higher level of training. The surface form of the back covers of these models reduces interference with the back of the hand, while a soft urethane band provides a better fit to the wrist. Bi-color molded buttons are designed for ease of use, while a high-definition MIP LCD makes display information more legible. Both USB and solar charging are supported, and solar charging can be used to power daily operation (except for pulse monitoring and GPS). Renowned G-SHOCK toughness along with new outdoor functions for a new selection of G-SQUAD timepieces.

Heart Rate MonitorThe GBDH1000 is equipped with an optical sensor on the caseback of the watch. The LED light detects the blood flow under your skin and measures heart rate. Based on your heart rate and running speed, VO2max (maximum amount of oxygen you can utilize during exercise) is calculated to inform you if working out efficiently or not. This is achievable thanks to the utilization of Firstbeat technology. Firstbeat uses a unique algorithm to provide advanced performance analytics. |
GPS Route MappingGPS functionality measures distance and tracks movement when running. The built-in GPS feature acquire data from GPS, GLONASS and Michibiki satellite systems. Link to a smartphone and you can access a map display of routes traveled. Additionally, GPS signals are received to adjust watch time, date, and time zone. (*when automatically adjusting time while paired with a smartphone, GPS auto-signal reception is off) |
Bluetooth & APP ConnectivityConnect the GBDH1000 to the G-SHOCK Move APP on your smartphone via Bluetooth connection. The G-SHOCK Move APP receives training data from your watch and provides detailed information of your training activities. Increase motivation by managing measurement data and training history with the APP, which automatically creates training plans tailored to set targets. On top of managing your workouts on the G-SHOCK Move APP, you'll be able to easily configure your watch settings. |

The watch will vibrate simple alerts for time elapsed during training and heart rate zone, as well as smartphone email receipt and other notifications. |
Super LEDThe GBDH1000 uses a MIP LCD (Memory in pixel LCD) which displays various detailed measurement data in a high contrast screen for easy viewing. EDIT: Update complete. Most important for anyone interested in this watch
You can only update this watch from the 'Timekeeping' menu. No one, nobody, not a single review anywhere mentioned this most crucial thing, not even on Youtube.
Whichever screen you normally use (steps, world time, etc) won't help update unless you revert to the Timekeeping screen/default that has only the following info
date time, day, battery, and seconds.
Then, you can do the usual (press the top left button for two seconds, bring on the menu screen, scroll down for pairing, etc) and get the update process going. Also, I updated on wifi instead of data. It finally updated. The latest version, as of Sep 22, is Software version 04.
What really sucks is the price, i dont think its work $450 but being casio G loyal consumer, i gave into the price.

What really sucks is the price, i dont think its work $450 but being casio G loyal consumer, i gave into the price.
This watch is stunning to look at in person, as someone with big wrists it looks great but if you have smaller wrists this watch will look massive. After several days of use I've noticed several things about this watch. The battery life is amazing for a "smart watch" and having solar really boosts the life of this watch but don't expect to never have to charge this on the USB. I'm in the sun about 4 hours a day and with the HR monitor running constantly it lost about one bar on the battery meter after the first 24 hours of use. The notifications on the watch are instant so there is no delay on seeing them but you will need to pull the phone out in order to respond as you cannot do this on the watch. The compass is very accurate outside but can be thrown off once indoors. The ability to set multiple alarms is great and almost all the setting can be changed via the G-Shock Move app. Im using the watch with an android phone and I've noticed the step counter doesn't send the info to the app outside of having the training mode active so unless you are in training mode I do not think any data is saved from the watch. The step counter has issues as it counts up even as you are driving, but only when you are moving slowly. I've noticed on the average day if I walk 10k steps the watch counts 13k. This is still an early version of the watch software and I am almost certain with regular updates this watch can be an amazing fitness device but as it stands now if you are only interested in the running/fitness aspect of the watch I would wait. But if you like G-Shocks and are in the market for a new watch, I highly recommend picking this up as it is one solid tank of a "smart watch" that you can take to the pool or mountains without worry.

Sin duda es una maquina que me durara muchos años y que estoy dispuesto a llevar al limite todas sus funicones. solo un comentario, no puedo lograr que se mantenga el enlace bluetooth, se desconecta, no se por que, tal vez sea mi telefono.
I don't care about heart rate, so I love my new G-Shock.
No me gustó: se desconecta continuamente del celular iPhone XR, y es un dolor de cabeza la conexión Bluetooth
