Battery life depends on the settings you choose to shoot your videos in. Higher frame rates and higher resolutions will use more power. At the highest settings, you should get about 45 minutes of recording time. At lower settings, you can get near 80 minutes of recording time.

My first GoPro Hero was bunk pretty much out of the box.  This Hero8 is just better in so many ways. It uses the same batteries. The Hero9 is too pricey and uses different batteries.

I got this to use while I ride my dirt bike. It is great and mounts perfectly on my helmet with the included mount, plus a 90* mount purchased separately. Great video quality.

Got this for recording my motorcycle rides. The quality is great, stabilization is so good.

It is small and light, ergonomically pleasant to use, and it produces high-quality 4K 60FPS videos with excellent stabilization and clear audio recordings.

Love it, but wish it was easier to use without using your cell phone to control it!!!  Wish that the camera Atleast came with an accessory or 2 considering what your expected to pay for it!!!

Nice camera

Great video stabilization.  Not very user friendly.  No option to capture at lower than 1060K.  Returned to store.

Not user friendly

Camera quailty is amazing, but there are several issues with the Hero 8 Black that I purchased from my local walmart last week. The first being overheating issues. At 72 degrees indoors, this camera will get hot enough to borderline burn you after 15 minutes of recording. The second issue is the battery. The camera will get down to the mid 40% range, then drop to 5-9%, then die. I am pretty sure I bought a defective model, but I am not sure how I can return it since I threw out the original box (though I do still have the receipt).

Good Picture, Bad Heat and Battery

Used camera once. Died on first snorkeling trip. 
Honestly was cheaper and better to buy a $10  water cell phone case than to buy this camera. 

Bought the Quickly membership and have to jump through hoops to get a replacement. Including having to pay mail out the damaged camera, plus pay additional $99 before getting a replacement. 

Warranty does not cover water damage as go pro states that it could have water damage due to user error .

Water proof?

I'm certain the camera must be very good, but mine was damaged goods and now with this pandemic non of the Walmarts in my area are excepting any returns.

I hope I'm not penalized
