Peonies for Paige: A Sweet New Adult Romance (In Bloom Book 1) Kindle Edition
Paige Bell’s dreams are withering. Devastated by a broken engagement, the career-focused college junior is counting on a publishing internship in New York to renew her zest for life. But when the offer falls through and she’s left to finish the summer working in a flower shop, her only pleasure comes from watching the handsome plumber fix the store’s burst pipe.
Trevor Morrison hides his troubled past beneath a cheerful grin. So after his hopes rise when he tumbles head-over-heels for a gorgeous florist, he’s ready to settle down without delay. But his heart sinks when the fiercely independent woman makes it clear NYC is still her calling.
Determined to stand on her own two feet so she can’t be hurt again, Paige tries to balance her personal needs with their blossoming relationship. But with his own abandonment issues surfacing, Trevor wonders if walking away first is the only way to protect his bruised affections.
Is their love destined to be lost in the weeds, or can they put down lasting roots?

About the author
Kasey Kennedy is an Illinois gal through and through. She grew up in Central Illinois, finished college at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and soon after, moved to Chicago. She’s been in Chicago or the surrounding suburbs ever since.
Kasey is happily married to her husband Tim and loves nothing more than spending time with him - especially when that involves live music! If not attending a live show, they usually enjoy evenings on the deck, listening to music; visiting their large families; watching movies; or planning their next trip.
When not dreaming up new characters and stories, Kasey is reading or planning what to read next. Occasionally, she pulls out the guitar she has been trying to learn for 30+ years and strums enough to annoy her cat, Pepper.

Romance level: kissing.
The first few chapters give you a good background of her situation. Then she meets Trevor, the most charming handyman. I was surprised by his honesty! How he approached her about the chocolate cake and the date👌🏻🔥.
I liked where their relationship was going! He fell hard for her first & quick. It was sweet...Until they stopped talking & decided to flee from one another, creating such a mess.
Here's the thing. I had conflicting thoughts about Paige actions, because even if they were fighting, it didn't end in "the relationship is over". Therefore, her seeing someone else while they were still fighting wasn't my cup of tea. She told herself they were only friends, but then she let him flirt with her, go on dates & talk about how he was familiar & safe. (While ignoring Trevor). It's just a trope I am not a fan of. I was kind of bummed about it because the story was good.
Despite everything, I loved the flower gesture. Trevor was really sweet. I loved the epilogue & their communication then. It was cute. Let me know your thoughts

* I was kindly gifted an ARC from the author. This doesn't influence in any form my review/opinion of the book*
I absolutely adored Trevor! He is a tradesman, a plumber, which I don't think you see in too many books so I enjoyed that. Trevor is great at his job. He has a good reputation, he is dependable, thoughtful, and knows how to hustle. Something that stood out to me about him were the amazing dates he planned for Paige. He put a lot of thought into them and they were fun and unique. I adored when he took out a notecard to play 20 questions on his first date with Paige. What a fun way for Trevor and Paige to get to know each other and for the reader to get to know them both! Other date highlights include the baseball game, the drive in movie, and the reading date! Trevor is the best! He knows what he wants and he falls hard and fast for Paige.
Paige was a little harder for me to connect with at first. She is young at 21 and still learning what she wants out of life. After a heartbreak in the past she is throwing herself into school and her career path. There were a couple miscommunications with Trevor that I thought she handled a little immaturely but if I think back (way back :)) to when I was 21 I feel I can understand her and her feelings better. What I loved about her is her kindness and what a great friend she is to everyone around her. She also has a strong work ethic.
Other things I loved
Family values in this book - Paige and Trevor are both close to their families and do what they can to help them. It was so refreshing.
Anna Lee - she is so unique and fun. I love her sense of humor and her cat!
The meet cute between Trevor and Paige - made me smile big time!
Trevor and Paige overcoming their differences/hurdles to make their relationship work - It was so real and I loved when they both realized they would do what it takes to be together.
Trevor’s surprise at the end - I won’t give anything away but if you love books his surprise will have you swooning!
Kasey Kennedy did a beautiful job with this book and it was an absolute delight to read! The characters are lovable and well developed. I am looking forward to the other books in this series!
Content is clean. Only sweet kisses.
