Vintage-style 3-band EQ, Cutting-edge Performance
The Fredenstein Artistic EQ is a 1-channel, 3-band 500 Series equalizer with three semi-parametric filters offering ±14dB of boost or cut and the company's innovative, switchable Color circuit that imparts vintage-style tubelike flavoring. The low- and high-frequency bands are switchable between Shelf and Bell curves, and a hard bypass is fitted, allowing for quick comparison of the dry and equalized signals. Open-sounding and easy to use, the Artistic EQ has the flexibility and sound quality to handle any type of program material at front of house and in the studio. It's an excellent value.

Big iron and the OPA2 op-amp
The Artistic EQ employs a US-made steel-core output transformer, which is particularly critical to the sound of the unit, helping to deliver its punchy, vintage-inspired sound with clarity and detail, without sounding dark or midrangy. Also under the hood is Fredenstein's proprietary OPA2 discrete audio operational amplifier. Not a clone of an older design, the OPA2 is new technology with matched, integrated dual input transistors that greatly improve upon the specifications of vintage op-amps. Like vintage units, however, it's a socketed design with industry-standard pin-out that you can swap without tools. The OPA2 (along with the high-quality transformer) is key to the Artistic EQ's sonic wizardry. At Sweetwater, we've put the Artistic EQ to the test, and we like what we're hearing. You'll be impressed.
