Publisher's summary

Detective Erika Foster is back in Fatal Witness–with a chilling new serial-killer case in Robert Bryndza's multimillion best-selling crime-thriller series!

How do you find a killer who has destroyed all the evidence?

Detective Erika Foster is on a late-night walk near her new house in Blackheath when she stumbles upon the brutal murder of Vicky Clarke, a true-crime podcaster.

Erika is assigned to the case and discovers that Vicky had been working on a new podcast episode about a sexual predator who preys on young female students around South London, staking out his victims in their halls of residence before breaking in at the dead of night.

When Erika discovers that Vicky's notes and sound recordings were stolen from her flat at the time of her murder, it leads her to believe that Vicky was close to unmasking the attacker, and she was killed to guarantee her silence.

The case takes on a disturbing twist when the body of a young Bulgarian student doctor is discovered in the same building, and this makes Erika question everything she thought she knew about Vicky. With very little evidence, the clock is ticking to find the killer before he strikes again.

This last book of the series seemed.... disconnected?

So I have read all 7 of the Erika Foster books back to back in the past 2 weeks & for some reason this last one seemed a bit different to me. Almost as if it were an after thought or less detailed in plot & storyline than the prior 6 books. Fatal Witness lacked the same twists & turns & details the others had & all I can say is that is was just straight forward & simple. Definitely not what I've come to expect from the author & this series. I felt less connected to this book that I had with his first few. The Girl in the Ice was so captivating & exciting, it really compelled me to go on this journey devouring the Erika Foster series, only to be left feeling somewhat "meh," with Fatal Witness.
Regardless, it's a decent book & a decent storyline, although I'll always favor the first few books in this series over the last few. For what it's worth....

Love this latest Erika Foster installment!

Bryndza delivered yet another banger with Fatal Witness. It's paced a little more slowly than others in this series, but I think it fits the mood of the events happening in the characters' personal lives. Jan Cramer's performance is, of course, as terrific as always. I'm going to go right back in and listen to it again!

love Erika & Co- however...

Excellent plot. So-so performance. Would have enjoyed the book more without the dead cats. Yes, warning - dead cats. I think the author is one of the very best tellers of tales writing right now. He doesn't need to add helpless animal corpses to his brews. Otherwise - Good Erika book, mediocre narration.

Enjoyed it!

All the other books in this series as well. Am following this author, and will look for other books by him. Very good choice of narrator for this series.

Satisfying until the end (again)

Another engaging book in this series but has the same fatal flaw as the Sue Grafton series. Erika Foster is brilliant until the climax of the book when she acts irrationally and puts herself and/or a colleague in danger.

Less

Why is Erica so stupid to confront the bad guy unarmed. Bryndza always gets you to the peak of the story and then makes Erica do nothing about her revelation. It's always fate that makes everything sorted right, not her wit or wizdom.
