Strength Where it Matters
Eye cups have frequently been a weak point on binoculars. Burris makes them from durable aluminum, not plastic. They'll stand up to drops and all enviornments.
Light weight
The Burris Droptine Binocular line is designed to provide the ruggedness demanded by hunters and other extreme binocular users. Comfortable and lightweight enough for extended glassing, the easy-grip exterior rubber armouring makes them easy to hold, even in the wet conditions or with gloves.
High Quality
Just like the Droptine line of riflescopes, the Droptine binoculars provide the performance you demand at a cost that won't make your eyes water.

I have the Droptine 10x42 binoculars. They have a beefy compact feel with a textured surface that is easy to grip. The focus and PD width adjustment are firm and stay put, but they are not too hard to use with gloves on. The right eye diopter adjustment has a nice micro-click feel and works well. Although they claim to be lightweight, they tend to be a few ounces heavier than other binos in this mid-range class. Just keep in mind that there are others that are lighter and/or more compact if that is important. I have carried these for miles in a full harness and you don't really notice the size and weight of these.
I find the optical clarity to be very good. Very similar to my Nikon Monarch ATB and M5 hunting binoculars. It stays clear and focused from edge to edge. Light gathering is similar to my Nikons, which is very good with clear images through dusk and good color even in low light. The color does fall off quickly at sunset. I saw some reviews noted chromatic aberrations including photos of it on white edges. I don't see this at all. I suspect that the chromatic aberration may be coming from the camera as cell phone cameras are notorious for flaring colors in contrasting conditions.
One area I was not very happy with was the twist-up eye cups. Yes they are aluminum and should be much more durable than some other brands that use plastic for this. Unfortunately, they do not have a positive notch engagement that keeps them in the extended position. There is also no middle position. I actually returned these to Burris to have them checked and they sent them back saying that is just how they function. So if you use these without eyeglasses you may notice that they move out of place pretty easily. With glasses and all the way in is no problem.
Speaking of warranty and service, Burris is great. They have a backlog like everyone else, but they are usually quick to respond and their online system for status works really well.
So with an average price of under $200, you should have the Droptines on your list for mid-level binoculars. In my opinion the Nikon Monarchs are the best in that $200-300 price range. The Droptines are frequently on sale. That makes them very attractive. I got them for $97 on Amazon! At that price it is a no brainer and I wish I bought multiple pairs to use for gifts.

Pour l’observation des oiseaux, les x8 seraient mieux que les x10 car les x10 ont un champ d’observation restreint. De plus l’image est moins stable: le moindre mouvement est amplifié.
