About this ebook

Augusta Eastleigh finds herself in a race against time before she’s swept into an arranged marriage. Could the man trying to hinder her efforts be the unexpected answer to her heartfelt prayers?

During the London season, Augusta has her eyes set on a potential match she hopes will appease her stern grandfather. There is one problem: Lord Blair MacDonald is determined to thwart her attempt to capture his friend’s heart. Nor does he hesitate to make it clear what he thinks of the scandalous rumors surrounding her birth.

Blair has his own issues. His eldest brother refuses to marry and his other brother lies gravely injured from a war wound. His father declares Blair must carry on the family title and, to help matters along, has chosen a bride: Augusta Eastleigh.

Neither Augusta nor Blair welcome this arrangement. With the heads of their respective families united in their decision, they must navigate uncharted waters together. Will their shared fate lead them down a path of unhappiness? Or will they discover a love which defies all odds?

A slow burn/enemies to lovers romance set in Regency London.

Simply a wonderful book. What a witty and fun book to read. The humor this tale was written with was great the interaction between the characters was grand it was plain and simply a wonderful book to spend time with. Caught up in old scandals Augusta must marry per her grandfather’s wishes. Blair and Augusta's first meeting does not go well and when Blair finds out what his father and her grandfather have cooking he is not a happy camper. Will they be able to muddle through it all? The answer is in the book hope you check it out. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

It bothered me way too much that everyone called Lord Blair McDonald "Lord Blair". Not just no. Hell no. Otherwise it was Ok.

Her grandfather, the Earl of Forebridge, allows Augusta Eastleigh one Season to secure a marriage proposal. She and her mother get something lined up, but Lord Blair MacDonald muddies the waters to prevent her from snaring his friend in the marriage and he brings up nasty rumors to make it almost impossible for her to succeed in her difficult task. But justice may yet be served when Blair gets caught up in this mess. His brother, Hamish, is critically wounded, and his other older brother refuses to get married. So the Marquis of Rutherglen lets the burden fall on Blair to produce the next heir. To move it all along, Blair’s father has chosen a lady for his son – none other than Augusta Eastleigh! Neither of them are happy with this situation, but their families are unyielding on the matter. Will the two of them be able to find something worthwhile in the other? Can they try to get to know each other better and perhaps find they were too hasty in their judgment? Or will their marriage only cause them pain while they carry out their duty?

About the author

As a child, Caro Kinkead was told Dr. Seuss' job was "writing books," and decided that was her goal when she grew up - along with being a ballerina and an archeologist and about a dozen other things. A fear of snakes signaled the end of her ambition to find the next Tutankamun's tomb, the dancing (and acting) didn't quite pan out, but the love of writing remained, allowing her to enjoy those varied careers and more in her imagination.

Born and raised in Houston, TX, Caro grew up in a family of readers, where she developed a love of science fiction and fantasy thanks to her father, and old movies and the art of costuming from her mother. These days, she and her husband share a home in the Los Angeles area with their cats, a sizable book collection, and more yarn than she'd care to admit to.
