Publisher's summary

From New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Corinne Michaels comes a new story in her Salvation series...

I was poised to become partner at my law firm even before I became secretly engaged to my boss. After being humiliated by him on my wedding day, I can’t face working for him any longer. So I quit, waving my middle finger on my way out.

Now the only things I’m poised for are unemployment and loneliness.

When an opportunity with Cole Security arises, it seems like the perfect way to run, all the way to Virginia Beach. I wasn’t expecting my childhood sweetheart to be there. I definitely wasn’t prepared that when we saw each other again, Benjamin Pryce would be so grown-up. So gorgeous. So Navy SEAL-ish.

And still the same guy who broke my heart when I was fifteen - and could do it again.

They say if you’re fooled once, shame on them. The second time, it’s on you. The third time, it’s going to be me that runs...unless he can convince me to stay forevermore.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new listeners, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

Gretchen deserved more

there wasn't as much effort put into the story as other characters and that's a shame. also the narrators weren't the best choice sometimes the emotions didn't match the way they said it. the female was also too whiny in some spots.

Gimme Gimme More!

I've been listening to this series non-stop, and this novella was a nice, less-intense break from the full-length novels. Gretchen was the jilted bride left on her wedding day, and Ben has his own broken and tortured past. They were childhood friends who hadn't seen each other since school days, and I loved so much watching them rekindle that bond they had. But while we got glimpses of their childhood friendship, it was them growing together as adults that was truly wonderful.

I love this couple, and I'm glad they got a novella, even if I wanted even more of them! It was also great getting to see the rest of the crew in this story as well. I thought the narration was done well, and this was a quick and easy listen!

Don’t do it. Skip this one!!!

I have listened to 3 of Corrine Michael’s series. I have enjoyed them all. While I may have enjoyed some characters and storylines more than others I enjoyed them all. This one thou - Don’t WASTE your time or money on it. The female reader is awful. Poor voice casting. She sounds like an old hag, which didn’t endear mean to the character. Plus her delivery sucked! Little to no character Develoment or plot other than two people falling in love. Nor does it advance, enrich or add to the Salvation series. I believe you can skip this book and move in to the next duet in the series and you wouldn’t miss a thing. Anything of importance will be recapped in the next book snd that’s probably only that Gretchen & Ben are married. Hard to care about them since they add so little to the series other than marrying all the gals off. Such a disappointment.

Upside I only had to listen to that awful female voice fir a few hours - if it hadn’t been so short I wouldn’t have made it through. And I only did because I was afraid I’d miss something important, but no, not a thing. Can’t get that time or money back. Bummer!

Too short

Glad to hear Gretchen’s story but wish it was a full novel rather than a novella.

Another great albeit TOO short book

I love all of CM’s stories, but I wish this had been longer and more detailed.
The female narrators voice was whiny and too nasal ( Kat’s) at times, but the male was good.

Wanted more

I love the whole series. I did wish this one was longer and had more substance like the othersZ Gretchen deserved a full stor like the other characters.

Forever A Part Of My Heart!

I absolutely loved Ben & Gretchen’s story! I loved how Virginia Rose & Jason Clarke brought them to life. I felt every emotion! This is another keeper for me and I can’t wait to listen to more from this superbly talented, fantabulous author!

it was ok

I'm sorry for the review, but when you change characters at the end of a series, it's not the same.

Disappointed

Narrators are not near as good as the others who narrated the other Salvation Series! Very disappointed.

I may attempt to read the book and see if I can enjoy reading it instead of listening to it.

I couldn't get through it

I absolutely love her stories and have listened to this whole series and her others. As much as I wanted to hear how this ended, the voice actor was awful. seriously, she lacked the proper emotions and whined when she spoke. Hate that I couldn't finish it
