About this ebook

Strange things are happening on the planet Prosperine.

Commander Hickory Lace and her team have defeated the coalition of Bikashi invaders and Pharlaxian rebels that attacked Avanaux. As a result, the strategic agreement between Earth and the province remains intact.

Following the final battle, the Pharlaxian leader, Sequana, disappeared. But word has reached the Alliance that he is mobilizing the northern clans of Erlach in another attempt to bring Avanaux to its knees. Sequana has his hands on a symbiotic high-tech weapon that could threaten not only Earth’s interests on Prosperine but the home planet itself.

Hickory and her team are ordered to find the weapon and bring it back. To succeed, they first need to avoid becoming dinner for a telepathic monster. Then they must cross the Erlachi mountains, overcoming many dangers, before reaching Sequana's stronghold.

Rise of the Erlachi is a sword & planet adventure. Fans of the classic works of Asimov, Herbert, Heinlein, and Anderson will be entertained by this book.

Author's note: although Rise of the Erlachi can be read as a stand-alone adventure, to get the most from this sword and planet series, readers are advised to start with volume 1, The Alien Corps. It's free on GooglePlay.

The Prosperine Series comprises:

Book 1: The Alien Corps (available in print, eBook, and audiobook)

Book 2: Rise of the Erlachi (available in print, eBook, and audiobook)

Book 3: The Scarf (available in print and eBook)

About the author

PJ McDermott was born in Scotland and spent his youth in the town of Paisley, near Glasgow. As a boy he would plunk school and head to the local library to read any Science Fiction books he could get his hands on. His favorite authors were Asimov, Herbert, Niven, Moorcock, and Le Guin. The book he most enjoyed, though, was Lord of the Rings by Tolkien. “It was the grandest of adventures, exotic locations and magical characters that drew me in. Seriously, I read it at least six times!”

These days, when he has time to relax, he enjoys the fantasy novels of Robin Hobb, George Martin and the modern SF writers, Vaughn Heppner and Alex Weir.

The author has published the 4-book science fiction adventure series Prosperine which includes The Alien Corps, Rise of the Erlachi, The Scarf, and Fractured Prophecy. All are available as e-books or in print. The Alien Corps and Rise of the Erlachi are also available in audiobook format.

The prelude to the series, Born of Fire, tells of the apocalyptic events 84 years before The Alien Corps, and is available in audio, eBook and Print.

The acclaimed semi-biographical novel, Small Fish Big Fish republished in 2020 as Caught in the Long Grass, was PJ's first novel.

The author now lives in Australia with his wife, Sue, two daughters and grandchildren, Mia, Ryder Patrick, and Ethan.
