Channel the Spirit of the ’60s

Hearkening back to 1960s-era Les Pauls, the Epiphone Les Paul Standard ’60s brims with vintage character and legendary rock ‘n’ roll vibe. Its resonant mahogany body is harmonically rich, and the maple top is full of clarity, punch, and snap. The Slim Taper ’60s C profile neck is exceedingly comfortable, makes chording easy, and is perfect for pulling out buttery lead lines. Packed with Alnico ProBucker pickups, the Epiphone Les Paul Standard ’60s has the bite and swagger that made Les Pauls a staple of ’60s classic rock and blues. Premium appointments include kidney tuners, LockTone ABR Tune-o-matic bridge, and high-quality CTS electronics for an upscale Les Paul experience at a super-friendly price—available now from Sweetwater.

A universe of tone with ProBucker pickups

The ProBuckers on the Les Paul Standard ’60s feature Alnico II magnets — the same as sought-after vintage PAF humbuckers — for rich, warm tone with crystalline highs and a tight bottom. With a ProBucker-2 in the neck position and a (slightly overwound) ProBucker-3 in the bridge position, crank your gain, and you can do some serious damage. We’re talking legendary Les Paul — fat, snarling tone served up with exceptional sustain.

The Les Paul backstory

The Les Paul story started with an instrument called “The Log.” In the early 1940s, on a quest for an electric guitar that would sustain for days, Les Paul — the legendary guitarist and inventor — fashioned what may well have been the first solidbody guitar from a length of common 4" x 4" lumber. For appearances (and possibly playing comfort), Les sawed an Epiphone hollowbody in half and attached the two “wings” to either side of The Log. Les continued to develop the idea through a series of prototypes, ultimately resulting in the classic solidbody guitar we know and love.

With a Les Paul, you’re in good company

From rock to fusion and beyond, the Les Paul’s surly snarl has virtually defined attitude-laden overdriven guitar tone. Legendary guitarists such as Jimmy Page, Al Di Meola, Alex Lifeson, Slash, and countless others have forged their signature sounds with a sunburst Les Paul. Epiphone now gives you the opportunity to experience that one-of-a-kind tone and look at an amazingly affordable price with the Les Paul Standard ’60s. What’s more, the Standard ’60s comes with Epiphone’s limited lifetime warranty and is backed by Gibson’s 24/7/365 customer service — so you know you’re making a solid investment.

Epiphone Les Paul Standard ’60s Features:

  • Mahogany neck with SlimTaper 60s C profile

Epiphone les paul!

I couldn't be happier! Slash is why started guitar! I'm no pro. I finally worked up to this model. Everything is good about this guitar.

Best Ever

First I must say I'm not a professional player or even a great player, have been playing for 25 years. I bought my Epi a few years ago. I love this guitar. 2 weeks ago I purchased the Holy Grail, Gibson Standard LP, it is a Beautiful instrument, don't get me wrong. But my Epi has all the same appointments as the Gibson. I play thru a Fender Blues Jr. I played both guitars with my eyes closed and could not tell the difference in feel and in tonal quality. My wallet could feel the difference between my Epi compared to $. Probably some diehard professional guitar plays will argue the Gibson is better, but I'm sticking with my Epiphone. I have since returned the Gibson and very happy. Take this review with s grain of salt and make the decision on what your wallet says. Please email me if you wish,

My Epiphone Les Paul Standard 60s Model .

I have to say that I am very impressed with the Quality , the Craftsmanship & The Finish on this 60s Model Epiphone Les Paul Standard , that I just bought from the crew there at Sweetwater . The versatility of the output sound of the pickups on this guitar , are something I wasn't expecting and now very pleased with ! I have been a mostly Fender and Rickenbacker player for a long time . I have played on other players / friends Gibson Les Paul's over the years , and they are good guitars . So , when I decided to look into getting a Les Paul , I looked at and played on some at the local shops here in my area. The price of the Gibsons are what they are and I wasn't going to spend $ for one . I was handed one of these Epiphone Les Pauls and put it through the paces and was shocked at just how good this guitar really is ! Looking at both Of the Ebony Les Pauls , standing there side by side afterwards, they looked exactly the same to me . Yes , there is a slight difference in the sound the pickups put out on these models, not enough to for the price difference in my personal taste though . As far as I am concerned, Epiphone has really stepped up their game, in the Les Paul Model Guitars playbook in the Quality , Sound & Affordability playing field . The set up on my Les Paul was good from Sweetwater , I just tweaked bridge height & the intonation to get it zeroed in after letting it get acclimated to room temperature of my house . Would I recommend this guitar to anyone looking at buying one ? The answer is Yes to all of the above ….To each their own as they say , play what you wanna play .
Music background: Played with some really good groups over the years , teach guitar to some younger players these days & still very active in getting together with other players in the area and doing a few gigs now and then .

Perfect!

I LOVE everything about my new Epiphone Les Paul Standard 60's guitar! I'm a beginner that has been on a long musical journey of eleven years trying to find an instrument to satisfy my craving. Wow! It sounded great right out of the box and continues to produce sound that strikes deep down to the soul of a man who felt the blues for the first time inspired by a BB King concert in 2009. I'm forever thankful and grateful to the Sweetwater team for providing real pictures of the guitar I had in my sights and now it's becoming a reality to move forward.

Thank you!

Great

This guitar is high quality not even just for the price. Attention to detail. Playability. The action is perfect from factory. It holds tune. It sounds amazing. Him buckets are good. Frets are super smooth no jagged edges like the player series strats and teles. Just being honest. Because I looked at all three for a few hours before I made this purchase. I got my first American strat almost 30 years ago. This 60's les Paul can hang. Highly recommend.
