In conclusion don’t buy if you like to charge the MacBook Pro, otherwise it’s a great monitor.
Update 10/21/23: after few weeks of back and forth with customer service, they sent me a replacement monitor which is able to charge my MacBook at low battery capacity.
This is an excellent monitor, and delivers everything as advertised, except one; There are no internal speakers, which was just verified by a call to Philips. And at least so far, I haven't been able to get the audio-out jack to work with my external speakers either. So for the time being, the "single USB-C cable" is a non-starter, as I have to connect my speakers directly to my MacBook Air, which entails a separate USB-C hub, which will accomodate an older USB connector from my speakers. Disappointing, but not the end of the world.
Otherwise, the monitor has a great picture, tons of features, the USB hub and "fast charge" ports all work great, and setting it up for use with my new MacBook Air M1 was a piece of cake.
This is also the only one I've seen in this price range that has a stand that tilts, swivels, AND lets you raise or lower the screen. This is a replacement for my 27" iMac, and I actually like it better, both ergonomically, and usability.
As a USB-C dock however, it is flaky at best. Yes you can connect your laptop to the monitor with a single USB-C cable and it will charge and have access to any peripheral you plug into the monitor's many ports – it has everything you need. And I had no problem getting 60fps at 4K and still getting the USB 3 speeds as many have complained. Perhaps that's an issue with M1 Macs but my M2 laptop had no issues. The issue is when you put your computer to sleep and go to wake it up, you get a black screen with "No Video Signal". No matter how many times I use the onscreen menu to select the correct input, it will not find the signal. If you open the laptop and fiddle with the cable you might get it to come on. Even pressing the soft power button on the front of the monitor still would not reestablish the signal. What's worse, having external hard drives and a USB hub connected to the monitor results in continuous "Disk not properly removed" errors. As soon as the monitor detects no video signal after about 4 seconds, it powers off and so does every device connected to it... like pulling the plug on your hard drive without ejecting it first. We all know what kind of problems that can cause to a hard drive. You can however flip the hard power rocker switch on the back and it will find the video from the laptop when you turn it back on, but there's the same problem with having external drives connected to the monitor. Guaranteed risk of damage to your drives. Even just putting the monitor to sleep and coming back to open my laptop the next day, the screen is covered in over 30 error messages that my external drives were not properly removed. So it's cycling power at regular intervals causing the drives to spin up, then lose the data signal and get ejected. Not good if you care about your data.
Also, it does have built-in speakers which are not the best but decent sounding. But when selected as the sound output in the system settings, it completely disables the volume control on the computer and the keyboard. The only way to adjust the volume is cycling through the on-screen menu on the monitor or adjust the slider on whatever video you are watching on screen. This was probably the most annoying glitch of all. The ethernet port did work properly, but that requires you to keep using the same single USB-C connection as a dock and with the other glitches it's just not worth the hassle. I love the monitor for what it is... a great 4K display and a better value than the LG and other brands I researched. I really wanted to love the dock feature but USB-C is still in early adoption stage and too flaky right now. Maybe a future firmware update will fix these issues but since Philips has discontinued this monitor I don't expect anything. I went ahead and purchased the GIISSMO USB-C docking station for $100 and it does exactly what I needed the monitor to do, plus has some extra ports and is easy to access behind the monitor. So this monitor is still worth the price, you're just going to need to spend a little extra if you want a reliable single cable USB-C dock solution with it.
The moment I fixed the stand and set it on the desk, the quality of construction was obvious. Appears a much higher price point..... however, after a few minutes of visual appreciation I was not able to power it on. Spent several minutes looking and assumed it was dead on arrival. Eventually I was able to locate a toggle on/off switch next to the power supply input and everything worked fine.... (I wish it was in a different color or directions mentioned this step). I was expecting usb-C to C connector but that may not be included in the US specific packaging. I have sent a question to the manufacturer.
Picture quality is in line with fine construction! Will post more in a few days.

After comparing it to a Philips and Dell 4k monitor, it was a very obvious choice. The panels in the back are white and it has a single joystick button. In my opinion, it is a lot more convenient than 4-5 individual switches than what monitors typically have. However, having a single switch is also a single point of failure.
I would strongly recommend this monitor unless you prefer paying more for a slightly more reputed work monitor brand like Dell.
The physical features (turns, rotates, portrait, landscape, built-in loudspeakers) are great. My wife and I can share it across one large desk and turn it to each seat as we are present at different times. The resolution and size are great for large documents side by side. One problem is the use of five tiny buttons along the botom and which are hard to see, but critical for proper use.
The screen resolution, colours, contrast, and all adjustable but the monitor does not always seem to retain the settings, or some are incompatible with others in a way that I do not yet understand. For example, the monitor has an extensive set of SMART options for sensing user presence, adjusting blue shift, adjusting screen contrast, and so on, but the use of one negates the use of another in a way that is not described in the manual, or elsewhere, and known only to the design engineers. Phone support on this was basic when tried.
Monitor has an extensive set of input/output connections, for use with many types of computer, but its abilities depend upon which connections are in use. For example, no problem with wake from sleep by bluetooth keyboard touch if connected via HDMI. If connected via USB-C only, and using a bluetooth keyboard/mouse, then wake from sleep did require waking monitor first by button push, and then waking the computer by mouse or keyboard. Frustrated my partner until I found (by chance) that switching off another function enabled the USB-C wake from sleep.
Other posts have better described some issues arise when using USB-C only as a connection and USB 3.2 is enabled for the monitor ports, for peripherals. I have set the USB bus to 2.0 and avoid such issues.
Download of the user manual (Philips website) is an absolute must. It's impossible to understand the settings and choices otherwise. It is clear from the types of questions asked on various sites that users have not found the manual and so cannot resolve even simple features such as turning on audio speakers, adjusting contrast, etc.
The sole support issue so far is that on the first day, when carefully turning the monitor 90 degrees landscape to portrait, the end of the supplied USB-C cable ripped off. I requested another from the phone support and it was mailed at no cost.
However, in dealing with the first level support ( a third party company) and asking other questions, it was clear that the operator was merely reading through scripts and did not have as much information as I did when using the downloaded manual. So i stopped asking difficult set-up questions.
