Unchained: A Rex Dalton Thriller Kindle Edition
Rex tries to put the past behind him and start a new life, no more secret missions, no more killing, no more violence. He and Digger are going to travel the world, visit historical places, and learn about other cultures. Life becomes an extended holiday, they have nowhere to call home and they’re enjoying every moment of it.
Rex and Digger are on their way to Kapal Mochan, India, where Rex intends to dip his hand into a sacred spring, a symbolic act of cleansing the soul and in his case to finally put his violent past behind him. When they pass by a public park, Digger starts shifting around in the front passenger seat and looking at Rex as if to say, “So, when are you going to stop and give a dog a chance to go to the toilet?”
It is the ideal place to let Digger out and he pulls off the road. While Rex is unpacking their lunch, he becomes aware of the presence of a strange old man who seems to have appeared out of thin air. After a few moments of awkwardness, the two of them to start talking, and before long Rex and Digger have an invitation to dinner with the old man and his wife.
During dinner, Rex finds out that the couple’s youngest daughter has gone missing and decides to help them find her. A decision which puts him and Digger on a perilous journey.
As Rex follows the leads to the missing girl, the closer he gets the more dangerous it becomes. Between a man in prison, an unscrupulous money lender in Mumbai, an illicit arms dealer in Saudi Arabia, and their cronies the two of them get into more danger than they’ve ever been. It turns out that the daughter of his new-found friends is not the only one in need of help and it starts to look as if he is not going to be able to help anyone.

Sheila LS - Top Contributor. Can't Read This Series Fast Enough!! I had no idea these books were so good when I first started or I would not have already downloaded other Kindle Unlimited books... I haven't read any series as exciting as Ty Patterson's Warrior series until now.
You really need to start reading this series from the beginning because what happened to Rex in this first book is what made him the way he is. He is a very determined person and does not stop at anything to take down the bad guys--especially if they are terrorist or if it is a group that is funding terrorist. Even though this is his main mindset, he still wants to protect the innocent that inadvertently get in the way...
Texas - This author belongs on the same shelf as Ludlum and Follette and those other guys! My first read by this author and I couldn't put the book down! Mesmerized by the writing style, the vivid descriptions and the storylines, I read without stopping. Fast paced, action packed and interesting on several facets.
Margaret Bentley - I love reading about Rex Dalton's exploits, but my favorite character has to be Digger, his military-trained super-intelligent dog.
Greg D - Rex Dalton was the deadliest agent the government had at their disposal- a one-man unstoppable force in the war on terrorism in the Middle East. With his famous ability to pick up new languages with ease, he figures he can blend into almost any culture and root out evil. What could go wrong? Well, it turns out, plenty.
E. I. HOOD - I was not a fan of the first Rex Dalton book but plunged ahead with the second hoping JC Ryan would not disappoint. I loved it. Now here I am after reading the third book in this series. I had a hard time putting it down and found myself wondering about it when I was not reading.
40 year pioneer - Each book in this series gets even better. This has a fascinating, even though hard to fathom, plot, worked out in intricate detail. Rex Dalton is a mirror of all of us - overcoming seemingly overwhelming odds to achieve great things.
Kindle Customer - From a master storyteller comes another thrilling ride by Rex Dalton. From the sands of Afghanistan to the culture of India the story moves at a breathless pace. Thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended.
Kindle Customer - Rex Dalton rocks! Another great read from JC Ryan. I've read all of his books and am never disappointed! All I can say is....MORE!

Also, at one point Rex gave Digger "half a roast chicken, bone and all." No, no! Do not ever feed COOKED bones to dogs. They can splinter and cause intestinal damage.
There were a few minor errors and a few punctuation errors; otherwise the book was very well written.
This was a very different storyline but kept the reader wondering what would come next.

This book brings the assumed-dead Rex and his new companion Digger on their way to a peaceful retreat in Kapal Mochan, India. The peace doesn't last long for them. This book is fast-paced and action-packed, with a kidnapped girl, an arms dealer, danger, and an influx of funds.
This is a great series for any fans of action thrillers.
I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
Rex and Digger are on the road in India when they meet an elderly Indian who is mesmerised by the interactions between Rex and Digger, and this leads to a dinner invitation at the Indian’s home. Following the meal Rex learns of the disappearance of the Indian couple’s youngest daughter who left home to go to University, and he makes the decision to try and track his host’s daughter down.
This then sets the scene for a visit to Saudi Arabia where Rehka, the daughter, has seemingly ended up as a member of the harem of a minor Saudi prince who is also an arms dealer – anathema to Rex. This makes for an exciting story with many fights involving Rex and Digger and a great deal of payback dished out by Rex. The end result is the escape of a number of females from the Harem and the destruction of the criminal empire of the Prince. This also sets Rex up with further funds, which enables him to fund the futures of Rehka and the other girls that have escaped. And along the way, Rex’s previous boss, John Brandt, the CEO of the paramilitary organisation Crisis Response Consultancy (CRC) who suspects Rex may have escaped the ambush in Afghanistan, sets a team to follow up this suspicion.
An excellent story line which is well written and looks like it seamlessly leads in to the next offering from this author – SIDESWIPED, which has now been added to my library and is begging for my attention!
