Made-in-the-USA Versatile Rocker in Stunning Zebrawood
ESP's USA MIII 2 PT solidbody electric guitar is made in southern California and is designed for versatility and powerful performance. The USA MIII 2PT has a visually striking zebrawood top and an African okume body that's similar in voice to mahogany but is lighter and more articulate for precise solos and aggressive riffing. It boasts a Saturday Night Special humbucker at the bridge and a Classic Stack Plus pickup in both the middle and neck position. You can tap the humbucker's coils for enhanced creative flexibility via the Tone knob's push/pull functionality, and the five-way blade switch smoothly moves between pickup combinations. The USA MIII 2 PT comes with Sperzel locking tuners, an ebony fingerboard, a Gotoh 2-point Tremolo, and a quartersawn extra-thin U-shaped maple neck in a super-playable satin finish.
Beautiful, musically flexible tonewoods
Mahogany makes great-looking guitar bodies with excellent tone and sustain, but it can feel pretty heavy near the end of a long session. ESP chose African okoume wood, which combines a mahogany-like grain pattern with maple-like tone — yet it's lighter than either of them, making marathon gigs a more pleasant prospect. On top, the USA MIII 2 PT sports a stunning zebrawood cap, with the sonic brightness of maple and a grain pattern similar to that of East Indian rosewood. Along with the ebony fingerboard and quarter-sawn maple neck, these tonewoods combine to create a musically and visually unique instrument.
Versatile electronics
At the bridge position, the USA MIII 2 PT employs a Seymour Duncan (SD) Saturday Night Special humbucking pickup, with Alnico IV magnets for slightly reigned-in treble and bass and more even voicing — more 70s arena rock than a modern humbucker sound. And when you split the Special's coils via the Tone knob's push/pull function, you'll open up loads of creative possibilities. Use the five-way blade pickup selector to move from the bridge to bridge/middle, middle alone, middle/neck, and neck pickup alone position. The middle and neck pickups are both SD Classic Stack Plus noiseless stacked pickups that use a bottom coil to cancel the 60-cycle hum.
High-quality appointments
Bone nuts are rightly prized for their density, stability, and great sustain — not to mention the natural material's workability. The USA MIII 2 PT has a bone nut that is custom-fit for this guitar. It also has an elegant ebony fingerboard that stands in striking contrast to the zebrawood top. The Gotoh 2-point tremolo further enhances the MIII 2 PT's musical flexibility, and it's done in a sweet black enamel, just like the rest of the hardware. The Sperzel locking tuners round out the MIII 2 PT's quiver of high-end, highly functional appointments.
