Check Out This Gorgeous Myrtlewood Top!
If you’re shy — if you can’t stand attention — do not take this ESP USA Eclipse out of its case. Its eye-popping myrtlewood top is sure to attract lots of attention. But this guitar isn’t all style and no substance. It sounds as great as it looks! The myrtlewood adds the perfect amount of edge to this Eclipse’s resonant black limba body. When you plug it in, you’ll be greeted with vintage-tinged tones with just a hint of modern clarity thanks to Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro humbuckers. And it plays like a dream courtesy of an ebony-topped black limba neck. Looks, tone, playability — this USA Eclipse has it all.
Top-shelf tonewoods deliver superior sound
ESP wasn’t fooling around when they built this USA Eclipse. They started with a body built from black limba. The warmth and richness of black limba are reminiscent of mahogany, with a touch more resonance. But ESP didn’t stop there. They topped the black limba with myrtlewood, prized for its bite and sustain as well as its eye-catching figured appearance. The result is an incredibly thick tone with a bold, edgy character. This guitar’s super-stable black limba neck is topped with an ebony fingerboard, which culminates in a comfortable-playing guitar with plenty of snap.
Warm, old-school-sounding electronics
Two Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro passive humbucking pickups were chosen to deliver this guitar’s rich, sustaining voice. These pickups are engineered to provide the clarity and warmth of a great set of vintage humbuckers with a little added bottom end for thick-sounding single note lines. The volume/volume/tone control layout allows you to blend your pickups to your preferences. For tones that can be classic and modern at the same time, the Alnico II Pro fits the bill.
ESP USA series employs the finest materials from around the world
ESP started as a manufacturer of after-market guitar parts in Japan in the late 1970s. By the mid-’80s, ESP was making custom guitars for some of the biggest names in rock. An exacting eye toward playability and craftsmanship has made ESP Guitars one of the most visible and prevalent guitar brands in rock and metal. In 2014, ESP opened its first US-based production factory. It’s there that they craft their acclaimed ESP USA series guitars by hand, using the finest materials from around the world. George Lynch, Ron Wood, Gus G, Kirk Hammett, and Alexi Laiho (and a bunch of us here at Sweetwater) rely on ESP guitars both onstage and in the studio.
