The night I met Greer Palmer was no coincidence.
The plan was perfect.
Everything was in place. All I had to do was get her attention and the rest would take its course.
What I didn’t plan was my reaction the first time she spoke.

“Are you okay?”

Three little words…
That’s all it took for her to steal my breath and shatter every thing I’d expected.
She was supposed to be a spoiled socialite, a pampered princess, an elite heiress— anything other than the striking beauty that blew my misconceptions to pieces.

One kiss and I became obsessed.
One night and I became addicted.
One month and she became my world.
Suddenly, my plan wasn’t so perfect.

To her, I am sunset kisses, whispers of seduction, and promises of forever.

It’s all a lie…

I’m Lawson Hall.
My name and reputation speaks for itself as one of the most successful architects in the industry. Conceited, arrogant, egotistical, ruthless— I’ve earned it all.
In reality, I’ve bided my time, done my job, and waited my turn.
Now is my chance.

Greer thinks we met by accident, but she’s wrong.

Once the lies are exposed, will the truth be enough?

Hero is pathetic and weak. He's had his hand slapped by daddy for something, and is petulant he won't be given part of the business. He's so unappreciated. He decides to dupe the heroine to get information on her father..I don't know why because I already didn't care. I actually yelled at my computer to man up and start your own company if you're so damn awesome, but as so often happens with arrogant, smug men he didn't listen.

When he meets her he's so happy she's not a bitch as it will make all the time he spends duping and manipulating so much better. If I’m going to have to juggle this double life, at least she’s not a total bitch. No, the bitch would be you, wouldn't it.

I didn't even get to the big reveal, the evil OW, or read the angst because I have a feeling what with the heroine panting after the H like a 12 year old after Davy Jones (that's a teen throb from the Dark Ages by the way), she's just going to roll over.

Here's a cute guy who would never treat his girl like that.

“I need to be a man worthy of your love.”

I absolutely LOVE finding new-to-me authors, and I especially love it when their writing style and their storytelling are right up my alley! Ahren Sanders writes romance with ease, charm, and has an exact sense of what romance readers crave. I’m not sure what I was expecting with FAT CAT LIAR, but what I didn’t see coming was the amount of emotion, love, and brutal heartbreak between Greer and Lawson. Their story is such an emotional journey, I couldn’t look away, even for a second! If you’re looking for a love story that will surprise you and captivate you, check out FAT CAT LIAR by Ahren Sanders. This author won me over with her amazing characters and beautiful style. There is no doubt in my mind that you will fall HARD for the characters, the writing, and the journey. I will definitely be checking out more of this author’s stories in the future!

To say I was amazed by this book would be an understatement. I’m in complete awe!

ARC received voluntarily in exchange for an honest review.

When I started reading Fat Cat Liar, I didn’t know exactly what to expect. Well, I kinda had an inkling because of the blurb but it was SO MUCH MORE. More than I could ever think of, more than I could ever expect or want. This book blew me away.

Grier is a kickass female lead. She’s strong, beautiful caring and the most selfless person in the world. She has a heart of gold and loves those close to her fiercely. She comes from money but doesn’t let it show, she’s not the typical spoilt, uptight rich kid and that’s what makes me love her a lot.

Lawson is arrogant, irritating (at times) and an asshole but not only that he’s caring, loving and when he loves, he loves hard. He’s good and what he does and he knows it.

Their story is a rollercoaster of emotions. One minute you’re happy, smiling and laughing the next your heart is breaking and you’re holding your chest in fear it’s about to burst out and drop to the floor, no seriously, I’m not even kidding. Their story is sunshine and happiness with equal amounts of sadness and tears. When a story can make you feel so many emotions as much as this did then you know it’s a book you’re going to love for a long time.

This is my first read from Ahern Sanders and it definitely won’t be my last. The time and effort the author has put into this book shows clearly. The writing is beautiful, their story is incredible and I’m just, wow. I’m so in love with this book that I didn’t know what to do with myself right now. Infinity praise to this author and her hard work.

Another slut friend and heroine embarrassment in front of the hero...
I don’t know why people find it romantic to be embarrassed in front of the hero. Like here when h is talking about how hot H is and how sexy his voice is to her slut friend and the H hears it. Sorry this is not Romantic.

Oh how the mighty do fall! And it's even better when they never see it coming. Lawson Hall got knocked down by his own game. Greer Palmer is surprised when she unexpectedly meets her new neighbor across the hall and finds him to be far more than she's prepared to handle. It isn't long before these two are both keeping big secrets from each other as they fall deeper in love with each other. But disaster is just a breath away that could end everything.

I love Ahren Sanders's writing. She writes some really great characters and Lawson and Greer are two of my favorites. I did, however, wish Lawson had leveled off a bit with his obsessive need to control. It was a bit over-the-top at times. The brainiac "Nerd Herd" back up cast, along with Lawson's brother Clay, and both dads lend a big dose of comedic relief and support at times when it's needed most.

A real fun-to-read rom-com with a great romance between two very strong-willed people.

For Lawson, it was all about needing to find a solution to his problem and he thought it would be as easy as getting Greer to fall for him and he would do what he was good at....leaving her when his plan worked out for him. Yet he never intended for Greer to be whom she was and to really fall for her.

I could not stand Lawson at first because his deceit would end up hurting the one person that had a big heart, always wanting to help others first. There were a couple of times I put down my tablet because I just couldn't because I wanted to smack some sense into Lawson but I had a little hope that he would redeem himself.

Y'all get ready when you start ready this story that will have you wishing Lawson was in front of you so you can give him a piece of your mind. Kara ~4.5 Stars

5 SMOOCHES!

I really enjoy Ahren Sanders style of writing. It’s always so richly detailed, and chock full of many emotions. She fully develops her characters in a way that enables her readers to truly get to know them. The effort and care she takes in progressing her plots and stories, in laying them out and building the anticipation, is evident on every page. These are stories that readers can easily get swept up in with characters they can relate to in situations that can envision. This takes a tremendous amount of writing talent and vision, and Ahren Sanders has these abilities in spades.

Lawson Hall was a celebrated architect, living the playboy life, and about as arrogant as they come. His focus was on the corner office, the title, the money—the prestige—that the promotion he was gunning for would bring. Proving his arrogance knows no bounds, he formulates a plan of deception to gain what he wants, but what he couldn’t have planned for was Greer Palmer. She was beautiful and brilliant, kind and thoughtful, real and genuine. She was the anti-socialite, and she had a posse of pals at her back to make sure nothing ever dimmed that light. From the moment she stepped into his world, Lawson Hall would never be the same.

Sanders created a fiery, passionate romance between Greer and Lawson, fanning the flames between them to near inferno levels despite the inevitable crash and burn once Lawson’s lies came out. I’ll be honest, even those he was a liar, his love for her was real, she was changing this man, and I felt his internal struggle, his torture and guilt, and then finally his shame. She did a fantastic job conveying all of the emotions in this story, and she built it upon a wonderful foundation of ancillary characters that I absolutely adored. I am hoping and praying that she’ll revisit the Nerd Herd at some point and give them their own stories.

I love watching a cocky guy being brought to his knees, and Fat Cat Liar was one of the best of these scenarios that I’ve read. Five smooches from me for Fat Cat Liar by Ahren Sanders.

This was such a fun read, the blurb sets the story up for you but it doesn't give much away because even though Greer and Lawson met under dishonest ways their attraction and chemistry was pure and honest.

This book had me on a rollercoaster with my emotions and it was one hell of a ride. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a contemporary romance with a some angst, a lot of sexy times, and a great story line. Happy Reading!

Wow this book just about wrecked me!!! But in such a good way that I’m in a book hangover that I can’t afford to be in!! But I should have known better. Ahren always does this to me her writing is just so superb and her stories will just take you away to another world and you will want to stay there forever. And make sure when you start one of her books you have plenty of time to read the entire book because you will not put it down until it’s done. Now when you first meet Lawson you are not going to like him very much at all but you slowly start to fall for him. But the farther he goes into his rabbit hole the more you know it’s not going to turn out very well at all. Greer has to protect herself from people because of who her father is. And when she meets Lawson she thinks it’s all coincidence. And starts to slowly fall in love with him. But when all the secrets come out it totally breaks her in more ways than one. This is a beautifully heartbreaking book about learning what’s really important in life. And to never hold on to secrets because you could possibly lose the best things in life. You will laugh and you will cry but most of all you will be inspired to never lie! I love this book and highly recommend this book!!!

5 Stars!

I gotta say before I dish on how much I loved this book that I was super stoked to see this author back with a brand new standalone book. Ahren Sanders is a brilliant writer, fantastic storyteller, and she is easily-always a five star for read. I even have a few of her books that have worn edges because of my re-reads and a sneaky suspicion that I'll be back to this one sooner rather than later.

Fat Cat Liar was so so good y'all, in the most unexpected ways. Deep. Beautiful. Fierce. Sexy. Packed with edge of my seat moments and all of the feels-in the best and worst ways... this journey was completely unforgettable with explosive chemistry, simmering tension, and a raw passion that couldn't be denied. Lawson and Greer left me with such a wicked hangover in their complicated but so worth it romance. They hooked me early on, fast and hard.... and had me racing through the pages, chasing their happy ending. I fell hard for Lawson and Greer, well she totally has an admirer in me.

Like I said, Ahren Sanders has got it when she's writing contemporary romance and I hope she never, ever stops. This book took me by surprise and kept me on my toes in certain moments. Run to grab this...you won't regret it.

I highly recommend this book.

Greer met Lawson under unexpected circumstances. She was instantly attracted and so was he but he had other motives. He started pursuing her for all the wrong reasons but started noticing that she was f who he thought she was. She was the only child of a billionaire but was far from snooty. She was the complete opposite. She was humble, kindhearted and quiet.

Their relationship developed and Lawson continued feeling guilty because he was falling in love with Greer. Greer was head over heels for Lawson until she discovered his ulterior motives and it shattered her heart. Poor Greer. My heart shattered along with hers. Her small circle of friends along with her dad were super overprotective of her and extremely upset at Lawson. It’s like they were taking bets on who was going to kill him first.

Lawson did things to redeem herself as Greer tried her best to overcome her heartache. Other things surfaced but I won’t give away what it was. They were lots of heart to heart conversations with all of them. The last couple of chapters were great and the epilogue was typical Lawson and Greer, lol.

Fat Cat Liar by Ahren Sanders is the story of Greer Palmer and Lawson Hall.
Lawson was all about getting ahead in the family business..nothing was off the table. Lawson was also a hard love him and leave him guy where no commitment was his commitment. When Lawson works on learning all he can about a possible business deal he doesn't stop at using the man's daughter...Greer. Lawson has never met Greer but assumes she is a hard-nosed Social-light and a easy mark to get information out of. Lawson moves into an apartment across from Greer where he stages needing help moving in a bed. What he doesn't except is for her to be a down to earth beautiful women who cares for others. Her first words to him showed that. The more he gets to know Greer the more he starts to change into someone that is good enough for her but he also has dug himself into a whole. Greer doesn't play off being rich or having a powerful father...in fact she tries to keep that low key since she has been hurt by people using her before because of it. So Lawson finds that he might have total changed but will Greer believe him?
I so enjoyed their story...I couldn't put it down until I finished it!

Fat Cat Liar by Ahren Sanders is the story of Greer Palmer and Lawson Hall. Lawson Hall messed up..BIG TIME! He invested millions from Morris Construction and Development into Ringer Corporation. Problem is Ringer Corp filed for bankruptcy mid project which defaulted back on Morris Construction. Now he is in major trouble with the board and his family. They think he is a screw-up and think he doesn’t have what it takes to lead the company. Now his father tells him he has one last chance to prove his worth- land the contract with Palmer Enterprises or he is out of the company.
Greer Palmer is sweet, super intelligent and very beautiful daughter of one of the most respected and wealthy men in America. She has this inner beauty that shines outwards on all that gets to be around her. Greer may have everything she could desire in life... if she really wanted it. Instead, she has set out to help others feel beautiful so that they can forget their medical issues and she also dresses those that don't have time to shop for themselves. Greer is a woman of mystery and she holds some secrets close but its for her protection. What happened is Lawson set a plan in motion to win the biggest contract. The only thing he didn't plan for was that the woman he intends to use was the woman he ends up falling head over heels in love with are the same. Will his deception, betrayal, lies, and scheming be the end of them?? Let me say this is one emotional read, with the FEELS out the roof. The secondary cast of characters really enhance this book {Nerd Herd} and the evolution of Lawson from this man who would do anything to get ahead to a man who realizes what is truly important…OMG he and Greer make the best couple!!! Ms. Sanders has done it again and has written a winner of a romance novel. I would love to see some of the secondary cast get their own books because they stand out. This is one awesome romance read!!

I really wanted to love this book after reading all the reviews and the nice 4.22 rating. It fell a bit flat for me though. I didn’t feel connected to the characters and as a result didn’t really care which direction their relationship went in. It was all a little bit predictable and I’d probably have enjoyed it more as an easy Sunday afternoon movie.

When I first started reading Ahren Sanders’ Fat Cat Liar, I didn’t quite know what to expect. I had never heard of the ‘fat cat’ expression before, but once Sanders provided me with the term’s definition, it clearly depicted who her hero, Lawson Hall, was and based on his less than gentlemanly reasons for befriending Greer Palmer and his inability to fess up to the depth of his deceit, the last word in the title fell into place, projecting a less than stellar opinion of Lawson, which could definitely sway readers and characters alike to refuse to see past his betrayal despite the truth of his feelings for Greer.

Ahren Sanders made it perfectly clear, early on, that Lawson’s stereotypical view of Greer’s ‘spoiled princess’ lifestyle was completely inaccurate, and while it was those misconceptions that allowed him to use her as a means to an end when it came to a business deal, the fact that Lawson kept up the ruse as long as he did even while growing to care for Greer in genuine ways will definitely not sit well with those who love Greer, both her family and friends as well as readers who immediately recognized the amazing and beautiful woman Greer is, inside and out.

Through much of the story, I questioned Lawson’s outward behavior versus his internal conflict. I needed to understand why he continued to, in a way, ‘play’ Greer even though Sanders illustrated how quickly his mind changes after his first few interactions with her. I definitely think this might be a point of contention for some readers when it comes to accepting Lawson as a book boyfriend, but I do feel that Sanders proves just how much Greer changes Lawson through his actions, which means that even if he keeps the truth hidden until it’s no longer an option, he does show how much Greer means to him despite their relationship being built on lies and deception, and if readers can reserve judgment until Lawson demonstrates his remorse, his heartache, and his transformation due to Greer’s influence then they’ll be able to believe that Greer becomes his ultimate end game despite its original intent.

The fact that Greer Palmer is an heiress to a billion dollar company is so far removed from who she truly is, so it makes sense that she keeps that information close to the vest and only has an inner circle of friends who know her full story. Greer is an amazing heroine - one who is her own person with her own goals despite the type of woman she could be due to her father’s success. Greer is the antithesis to every stereotypical attribute for a woman who comes from money, and while, at times, she appears to be too good to be true, Sanders develops her character in a way that leaves no argument about exactly who and what matters most to her, and when Lawson’s lies are revealed, she makes him work for EVERYTHING, which proves how strong of a woman Greer is because even when her heart is breaking, she endures…she fights for herself and doesn’t give in even when she wants to despite all of the pain that Lawson put her through because when it comes down to it, she sees how much he’s changed and realizes that the risk just might be worth it.

The Lawson Hall readers meet at the beginning of Ahren Sanders’ Fat Cat Liar is not the same man who ends up fighting for love instead of his job once his lies and end game are revealed. Now that’s not to say that he still doesn’t have some a-hole tendencies or a healthy confidence that makes him seem like quite the arrogant bastard. But it’s that growth…that transformation that allows me to see past his deception and recognize the man he became due to his ulterior motives to get close to Greer for financial gain.

#NerdHerd4Life

I can’t write my review for Fat Cat Liar without mentioning the supporting characters, especially the Nerd Herd. This group of five intelligent, close-knit friends share an amazing bond and they use their collective brain power to accomplish monumental projects. I absolutely adored their commitment to each other and the fact that they brought such diverse qualities to the group showcases who each one is separately and how much they can accomplish when those characteristics are brought together. Theirs is a fierce friendship and it’s one that they could surely not live without.

Ahren Sanders’ Fat Cat Liar illustrates just how life-altering true love can be and what people are willing to do, both in positive and negative ways, to hold onto the other half of their heart. Lawson and Greer’s story is told through both of their perspectives, which means that readers are thoughtfully immersed into a journey that is heartwarming, heartbreaking, and so emotionally rich that readers can’t help but fall in love with both of them, even if we may also want to knock some sense into a particular sexy, possessive liar!

Review by Lisa Kane

Lawson Hall screwed up. Big time. He invested millions from Morris Construction and Development into Ringer Corporation. When they filed for bankruptcy mid project they were left with millions of dollars in construction costs. Now the board and his family are calling him on the table and questioning his ability to lead the company. He’s earned his position working his way up, centering his whole life on his career. Now it’s all at risk. When his father lets him know this is his last chance-land the proposal with Palmer Enterprises or else.

Greer Palmer could be living a much different life if she chose. Daughter of one of the most respected and wealthy men in America, she opted for a different path. Her father would have liked her to follow his profession but instead she chooses to own a business giving dignity and self- respect back to those who have lost it.

Lawson does his homework and it seems the head of Palmer Enterprises has a daughter. Lawson will do anything he has to do to land this contract.

My heart races. It’s going to take a lot more than skill and brains to win this proposal. I’m going to have to play dirty.
Greer Palmer is the key…

Lawson arranges to be neighbors with Greer, making sure he is up front and center in her daily life. A friendship is formed, and Greer finds herself intrigued by Lawson. Of course, he has his own agenda and keeps way too many secrets. Greer feels guilty because she hasn’t been completely honest with Lawson.

“Once again, your evasiveness leads me to believe you’re hiding something.”

Really Lawson…hello pot.

Both are in over their heads. Lawson sets this whole deception up, he’s in too deep. How can he tell Greer the truth without losing her? Greer feels obligated to helping her father with his latest project, but doesn’t share details with Lawson. This isn’t gonna end well!

“It’s not over between us. It can’t be because I can’t survive without you in my life. A man like me falls in love, it’s forever. And you are my forever.”

I love when a man grovels. When a man has blown up his life to bits and has taken everyone else down with him, I love to see how low a man can go before he can start to build up his life again.
Greer Palmer just stole the last piece of my soul. Eternity takes on a whole new meaning.
I’ve never read a book from Ahren Sanders that didn’t decimate my heart. Every. Single. Time. Fat Cat Liar is no exception.

“Tell me you’re mine.”
“I think you already know that.”
“I need to hear it.”
“Lawson, I’m yours.”

I loved watching Lawson evolve. He went from a ruthless ambitious man dead set on proving himself to a man who found love and happiness and realized what matters.
Lawson was a great character. He grew and learned. He started as a nice guy but a bit of a douche canoe. When you meet him he comes up with this brilliant plan to get what he needs to help his family’s company win a bid on a project from Greer’ s dad. Now when you read the plan you know that it isn’t going to end well. Any plan like that does not bode well when you begin but than you add the fact that you are dealing with people and you know that this will end in disaster for him. Only his disaster is losing his heart to a woman he didn’t mean to fall in love with and having to fight to get her back. His disaster was thinking that Greer was a socialite that was vacuous between the ears. Instead she is gorgeous, smart, kind, generous and loyal. She has a group of friends that are a hoot and very protective. Her job is rewarding and she takes Lawson by surprise.
Greer wasn’t what Lawson expected and the more he got to know her, the more he fell for her and she him. Only again he had his plan and it is starting to bite him in the butt. His guilt began to eat at him but so did the idea of losing her. His fear overrode the guilt and kept him from coming clean until it was too late.
The story of them falling in love was sweet, sexy and fun. They have a lot in common and respect one another. the chemistry was wowza and the intimacy was sexy both in and out of bed. I love how as Lawson realizes he is in love, his eyes are opened and he begins to change so he can be the man Greer deserves. He sees beyond his ego and getting ahead. His ambition is put to the side and Greer is his everything. So when it all blows up and we know it will he is shattered. So is Greer. It breaks the heart to see all the pain they are in. It also gives us the groveling of Lawson and the fun way that Greer’s dad messed with him. That was a hoot. Also we saw Greer’ s friends rally around her. Seeing her forgive was heartwarming and the ending with Lawson’s swoony and protective side had me smile. The story had fun characters you fall in love with instantly, a entertaining romance, growth of characters, a beautiful love and was entertaining. I would love to see a story on Lawson’s brother that would be a hoot.

Lawson Hall is a jerk with a capital J. All he wants is to fix his mistake and move up in his company and Greer Palmer is the perfect pawn in his game...until he realizes it’s no longer a game and he has real feelings for her.

This book had great flow and the characters were both likable -- despite Lawson’s original jerk-ness, he’s really a great guy and he truly falls head over heels for Greer and the way he treats her just melted my heart!!

This author creates worlds that capture you whole as you’re reading and the characters really make you want to reach out for them. This story had sme twists and turns - some that were expected and some that weren’t - but the entire novel just kept me wanting to read the next page..and the next and the next!!

As a stand-alone, it was great, but wouldn’t it be perfect if we got some more books from the Nerd Herd?!?! I would totally be okay if this book was turned into a series of stand-alone novels! I can’t wait to see what this author brings us next because everything I’ve read of hers I’ve LOVED!

My thoughts as I cracked open Fat Cat Liar: Man, I don’t know if I can deal with starting out a book knowing the guy’s straight up lying to the girl. All right, Ahren, let’s see how this goes.

And boom, I was immediately pulled into Lawson and Greer and their romance. Immediately pulled into the devious plan Lawson put into action. Immediately pulled into the orbit of Greer and her aura of awesome.

And when I say immediately, I mean from the first words. Seriously. I could not put Fat Cat Liar down once I started reading. I had to know what happened with Lawson and Greer. Had to know how the truth would unfold. Had to know how the groveling would play out. Had to know if they got to their happily ever after. Had. To. Know. Everything.

And wow. Just wow. I adored that lying bastard Lawson Hall. I understood his motive and I loved how he became completely enamored with Greer. And Greer. I loved her big heart and brilliant brain. And, I want to be part of the Nerd Herd and have that amazing circle of friends.

Lawson and Greer aren’t perfect, but they’re perfect for each other—in and out of the bedroom. Seriously swoony moments as Lawson romanced Greer. I loved it so much and I am hoping there will be more stories from this amazing group of characters. ~ Missy, 5 stars

It's been a hot minute since I've read an Ahren Sanders book, and FCL reminds me of why I love this author so much. Her books are effortless in a way that consumes you. Once you start turning the pages all you want to do is read until the end. Dinner? Kids? Job? They can all wait!

FCL is a sweet, sometimes frustrating, romance that swept me off my feet. I fell hard and fast for Lawson, but I had to decide if he was worth my praise. I mean, he doesn't start out with the greatest of intentions which makes him kind of a douche. But through the ups and downs he won me over and in the end I liked him a whole helluva lot. This book was full of love and heartbreak that had me captivated.

An emotional journey and smokin' hot chemistry that will keep you turning the pages. I devoured every word!!

Oh, Lawson Hall, how I love you. You start Fat Cat Liar with ruthless determination and willing to use unscrupulous methods in order to get close to Greer and get to her father, but you’re brought to your knees by love. I love a hero, who falls hard and grovels well! He and Greer are fantastic together, and Fat Cat Liar is a fun, low-angst, sexy and heartfelt romance. This is my first time reading Ahren Sanders but definitely not my last!
