Mind Over Matter (Druid's Curse Book 6) Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 69 ratings

Who would have thought there was something more horrifying than an indoor boy being forced to live in the Amazon? Yet, there was. In fact, the more descriptive word would be mind-numbingly terrifying. That it was brought into his life by a drop dead gorgeous man claiming he was there to protect Wylie, only made everything that much more surreal.

Since the first druid came into their lives, Fritjof prayed he would never meet the druid that was destined to be his fated love. He knew that emotion would always lead to devastation and heartache. He’d seen it, experienced it, when his mother disowned him for not being able to save his father.

But what happens when the Fae goes after someone they both love? Will they be able to find a way to trust in each other? Are some things impossible to overcome or is it Mind Over Matter?

PLEASE NOTE: Although each book in this series focuses on a different couple, to best enjoy the overall story arc, these books SHOULD be read in order.

Fritjof and Wylie both lived with major baggage. Wylie, city boy has the misfortune of hiding in the Amazon. Fritjof was Wylie's immortal protector and had a challenge . Wylie seems to be very immature. He has self-esteem issues that hinder his growth and progress. It's good that Wylie has Buttercup, the horse, in whom he confided and considered a friend. Tess, Wylie's niece is an absolute delight. It all falls apart when Buttercup's identity is revealed and Tess is kidnapped. If Wylie wants to be in on the rescue, he has to make an irrevocable choice with which he overtly doesn't want, but secretly he does, but he must in order to save Tess. He makes the implementation as unpleasant as possible. Is there hope for him? Can he work with Fritjof to save Tess? Will they succeed? What happens when the rescue is over? Will they succeed in their mission? Will Wylie and Fritjof ever talk? Good story. I haven't read the other stories, now I will. Nicely done! I received an ARC from Booksprout for a review.

I think that the only reason that I was ok with Wylie's second chance was because they truly were fated mates. Perhaps I was just expecting the stupidity to come front Fritjof, and the hurt that he's been operating under for the last thousand years that love is tragedy and that the druids are a bit of a waste to protect.

I am excited to see the last two druids get saved, and can't wait to see what choices the team will have to make to qualify for their HEA.

I probably would have given this a slightly higher rating except for one main issue. Fritjof and Wiley. They each had major issues that interfered with their mating and I don’t think they overcame them enough that I bought their HEA in the end. Their claiming was pretty painful to read. I’m not sure how you would recover from that as quickly as they did. Threw off the whole story. Hopefully the next one in the series is better.

Mind Over Matter is the sixth book in the Druid's Curse series by Shea Balik. The story of the druids, their immortal protectors and the fight against the fae continues as Fritjof sets of to find Wylie and his family hiding in the Amazon before the danger gets them. Love at first sight it is not.... but when the danger threatens someone important to them, they realize their mating is needed and that love has somehow snuck up on them. They have so.e steamy chemistry and they are fun characters to get to know. The story has angst, suspense, magic, humor and love... perfect addition to series.

I recieved an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.

Another great addition to the series and I highly recommend reading the previous books first. The story arc running through the series is very enjoyable and best if the books are read in order. I'm looking forward to reading the next one.

Fritjof and Wiley's story in the druid series was a wonderful romantic adventure. Their getting to their HEA was not without some angst but in the end that made them getting there a good read.
