Being wrong for each other has never felt so right …

Toby Jenner may be tall, handsome, and own the world’s greatest collection of cardigans, but his track record with women is woeful. Even though he’s the tech genius behind the most successful matchmaking app of all time, it seems as though Doctor Love is able to predict everyone’s perfect partner except his own.

All that changes when a beautiful, intelligent, quirky-as-hell woman crashes into his life. Plagued by her own relationship woes, Joanna’s done with dating guys who aren’t right and pins her hopes on the Happy Ever After app turning her love life around.

Within hours of meeting her, Toby realizes he’s finally found the soul-deep connection he’s always craved. Even better, she seems to feel the same way.

There’s just one problem - according to his own state-of-the-art compatibility algorithm, they don’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell of working out.

Being a man of logic, Toby knows he should forget about her and move on. He knows he shouldn’t move into her plush Manhattan apartment so he can monitor the glitchy A. I. that runs/ruins her life. He knows he should be fine with her dating men whose compatibility scores aren’t in the single digits. And he should absolutely ignore how just being near her sets his entire world on fire.

Yes, Toby is very aware that falling for his perfectly imperfect match will lead to devastating heartbreak. But he also knows that if there’s even a one-percent chance of them making it, he’ll move heaven and earth to beat the odds.

A sizzling new standalone from the internationally bestselling author of Bad Romeo.

"You're perfect," I say.
"Not for you... for you, I'm perfectly wrong."

Doctor Love is the long awaited third book in Leisa Rayven's 'Masters of Love' series. I love Rayven's writing and I couldn't wait for Toby and Joanna's book.... even though they're all wrong for one another, this couple was so so right.

Toby Jenner has a lot on his plate right now. Between family and work, his plate is not just full, it's overflowing. He doesn't have time for a relationship, but that's okay. Since the only person he's been interested in in sometime just scored ridiculously low with him on his new HEA dating app. Joanna and Toby have insane chemistry, but the numbers just don't match. So they become friends.

Friends sort of kind of works, but Joanna is keeping a lot of secrets and it takes a lot for her to open up to anyone. Toby is just the guy to break through that wall she has up. Toby is the most incredible hero. He was so deserving of love and I'm so glad he found it, even if he didn't quite expect it. This book has a whole other storyline aside from the romance which I found fascinating.

Not only did I love Joanna and Toby, but Jeeves stole the show in every scene he was in. It was also great seeing characters from the first two books I know and love, though you can read this as a stand-alone. Doctor Love was such a feel good romance that pulled on my heartstrings and left me with a smile on my face!
When you're so in love with someone, you can't imagine living without them, everything changes.

-"I want someone who stimulates me mentally as well as physically. I want someone who sets my whole goddamn world on fire."

Toby Jenner is a sweet, nerdy, gorgeous tech guru, and the mastermind behind a hugely successful matchmaking app. Between his personal life and his career, lately he's overwhelmed and overworked. He spends most of his time trying to pair up others, but has yet to find love for himself. He often wonders if there is anyone out there meant for him. Then he crosses pathes with the woman of his dreams. Joanna checks off all his boxes. She's beautiful, wickedly smart, and confident, and whenever she's near he feels alive and craves more time with her. She dominates his thoughts, but all the signs point to them being wrong for each other when their numbers don't align on his app. Will they forget about logic and decide to follow their hearts instead?

Joanna Cassidy has worked hard to be the strong, independant woman she is today. She doesn't easily trust and has learned to only rely on herself. She always dates the wrong men, and has bad luck in the romance department, so she decides to try out a dating app that is known for it's accuracy. This leads to meeting Doctor Love, the apps brilliant creator. He's one of the most fascinating men she's ever met, and they quickly form a deep connection. Will she fianlly get her happily ever after, or be destined for heartbreak?

Doctor Love by Leisa Rayven is the third book in the Masters of Love series. It's a standalone, slowburn, roommates, friends to lovers romance full of humor, emotion, chemistry and plenty of swoon. I loved Toby and his beautiful heart! I also enjoyed getting appearances from others in the series. It's a wonderful story about true love and finding your soulmate. <333

But that app is also destroying the only hope he had of getting his HEA! Because he just met the perfect woman - insta sparks and chemistry and so much more... but the app says: NOPE! Lowest matching numbers ever. And numbers have never lied to Toby....

What will happen to Toby and Joanna?
WILL WE GET A HAPPILY EVER AFTER??

Yay!
Finally book #3 in this adorable series.
If you're super weird with series like me - you should do a re-read of the first two books. This is a complete standalone ... BUT all the people from the other books are in here and the timeline overlaps a bit here and there. I would be pissed if I missed those first books!
So if you're going to read them all anyway - please do it in the right order!

Now to the story... I loved it!
I was soo looking forward to reading Toby's book. He's just so sweet and nerdy and cardigan-wearing-adorable and ugh. Perfect bookboyfriend material!

And Joanna. She's a bit of a mystery. Or rather a lot of a mystery. We only get to hear Toby's POV - which I love - but Joanna is a very interesting person too and we love her - we want to know more! And we find out more as the story goes along. We find out a lot more! LOL!

It was a very interesting love story. Because it's not really a love story - those two think they don't belong together. But we know better and we have a lot of fun following them on their way to that happy end.

We get so many funny moments and adorable moments and a few sad and heartbreaking ones. Even some suspensy ones, mysterious ones, exciting ones. And Jeeves ones. Jeeves is the best - wait till you meet him! LOL! Oh, and don't forget Nan and her Duck! 😂😂

Great Cast - Great Story.
I really need this series to show up on Netlix soon!

DOCTOR LOVE was such an adorable and funny and slightly heartbreaking love story! Run to your nearest amazon for your own Toby - this one is MINE!

Oh - one tiny little thing. Like in the first books....
Their age bothered me a bit. They're both 25 years old and all through the book they appeared more like 35 to me. Didn't hurt the story or the book, but maybe they could've been a bit older?

Der 3. Band beinhaltet leider zahlreiche Logikfehler.

“You know, it’s hard for us to find our place in this world and even harder to find our person. But when you do, you don’t let them go, and you don’t run away. You make them your new sun and moon. You start and end the day by worshipping them.”

Doctor Love is the highly anticipated third book in the Masters of Love Series (the first two books are currently ONLY $1.99), starting with Mister Romance (Max and Eden’s book), Professor Feelgood (Jacob and Asha’s book), and now Doctor Love where we meet the sweet, intelligent Tobias (Toby) Jenner and the mysterious Joanna Cassidy.

“There are still things I didn’t tell you because I didn’t have the words. They’re things I’ve never wanted to tell anyone…until you came along”

Whilst you could read Doctor Love as a standalone, the timelines overlap the previous books, so there could be spoilers, and if you haven’t read Mister Romance and Professor Feelgood, you are missing out! We adored those two books and know you will too.

Doctor Love is told in Toby’s pov, and we really get to know the ins and outs of this hot, tech guru, hacker extraordinaire. An overthinker with a pile of problems on his shoulders and a wardrobe full of cardigans. He is such a sweetheart!

“I guess we’ve all suffered in our own ways, and we all carry damage from it.”

Recruited by Team Romance Central, Toby assists with creating their new HEA app, which matches those in search of their happily ever after with their perfect soulmate. But….is science a predicter of the heart? Toby seems to think so and won’t risk his heart with anyone who doesn’t match him perfectly.

Enter Joanna Cassidy, best friend of Eden and Asha, and a lady full of secrets, pain, and mystery who grabs Toby’s heart immediately – but she’s not his match according to the app, and therein lies a conundrum for them both. Joanna is very much a closed book, whose pages slowly begin to open as the story progresses.

“What?”
“Nothing. You’re just…amazing.”
“That’s not true.”
“Oh, but it is.”

Doctor Love is a slow-burn romance sprinkled with suspense, mystery, and intrigue, with Toby as the standout in this story – what a beautiful, tormented character he was. But the scene-stealer? That award goes to the witty, clever, and ever entertaining Jeeves. His chats with Toby – whether it was matters of the heart, or brainstorming their devious plans, never failed to put a smile on our faces.

After all the anticipation, and our utter love for all the characters, we’re gutted to say, this book didn’t have the same impact as the first two books in the series. The story itself was fabulous as were the characters, however, the repetition and push/pull between Toby and Joanna began to wear thin in a book that was very long. Still, we were desperate to know if the heart would win in the end, and we had to experience Toby and Joanna’s conclusion, which we loved.

“That’s the danger of love Even with the greatest relationship predictors in the world, it’s always going to be a risk. Love can’t be owned and tamed like a stray cat. Sometimes it’s going to be a huge hulking lion that rips out your heart and eats it for breakfast. But you can’t have great love without understanding that and walking into the cage anyway. You just can’t.”

Doctor Love is my first book by Leisa. The premise of this book had me intrigued and curious on how everything works out.

This book is told completely from Toby's POV and while I don't mind single POV's in romance, I think with this particular story, it hurt the book a bit. The beginning starts of great and I am definitely pulled in but then somewhere in the middle, things become too mundane for me that it takes me longer than usual to get through it (I even read another book while reading this one and I normally don't do that). And then the book picks back up near the end.

Readers are given the inside scoop on Toby as to what his past was like, who he is now and where he's at in life. Readers are unfortunately given an outsiders view of Joanna and that hurts understanding her reasons and motives for her actions. A good portion of this book surrounds Joanna and her inability to be honest with those closest to her. She keeps a lot closed off and no one knows why but accepts it as "it's just who she is." I can honestly say, for the majority of this book I did not care for her.

While I enjoyed the plot of this book, I truly struggled to get through a good portion of it because it felt repetitive with how Joanna reacted to things. I adored Toby and his continuous fight to get whatever he could from Joanna. He was the only reason I finished this book.

Overall, this book as ok for me. I think readers who read the first two books in this series may enjoy it more than others as they have more insight to everyone. However, Doctor Love was right down the middle for me.

4 stars!

Leisa Rayven is back with the third book in her Masters of Love series, a fun, angsty, chemistry-filled romance written completely from the perspective of a hero searching for his soulmate, finding her, and then not being able to have her.

Toby Jenner is a tech genius, a bit of a nerd, and a man with a hideous track record when it comes to relationships. Put all of that together, and he is the man behind a new app designed to help people find their soulmates. It’s a matchmaking app that is scientifically designed to measure compatibility between two people, and it’s foolproof, giving him the nickname ‘Dr Love’, which is a name he hates, and that couldn’t be further from the truth.

My love life is like that game where you flip cards over to try and make a match, but the cards are on fire, and the table’s on fire, and everyone is in hell.

Toby meets Joanna during a test-run for his app, and sparks fly instantly. They share an immediate connection, and after a night spent flirting and bantering, Toby is absolutely smitten, and Joanna seems to feel the same. These two are so cute together, I loved their witty banter, and I was feeling everything that was brewing between them.

I’m trying to keep my optimism in check, because getting too invested before I know our score is mightily stupid. But when just walking next to someone is this thrilling, you know you’re a goner.

But according to Toby’s app, they aren’t compatible. Not even close. Toby is stunned, and Joanna seems devastated, and things sort of fall apart for a bit. Neither of them are willing to risk their fragile hearts on a relationship that is doomed to fail. But they realise that they’d rather be in each other’s lives as friends than not at all, and in a bizarre set of circumstances, Toby ends up moving in to Joanna’s apartment (as roommates only), setting up a fun and angsty dynamic where they become the closest of friends… while secretly wanting each other more than anything else on earth.

Sparks of tension are swirling all around us, filling the air with all the things we’re not addressing. Most of the time, we’re as comfortable as life-long friends. But every now and then, it’s like even the most innocent of remarks will give away more than we can bear, so we clam up.

If you’ve read Leisa Rayven before, then you’ll know that she can bring the angst, and oh, she brought it in this book! It’s with a dose of humour, but the intense feelings and sense of longing between these two just drips off the page! I’m all for a good build up, and love the epic sexual tension, but this book tested my limits, because they are clearly so perfect for each other, yet we watch them dance around it, date other people, and stubbornly refuse to give in to the chemistry that is so evident in every single moment of them together. There is so much love between them, but for their own reasons they keep their distance, and as much as I was loving their story, I started to get frustrated and zone out a little bit, wanting one of them to actually fight for each other!

Joanna is very secretive. It’s clear she’s hiding things, and that there is more going on with her than what we originally know, and I was fascinated as pieces of her are revealed throughout the book. But for me, Toby absolutely shines as our narrator and romantic hero. He’s smart, funny, he is self-aware and admits his vulnerabilities, and his inner dialogue is hilarious, heartfelt and so very entertaining. He is so in touch with his feelings, and as a romantic hero he is caring, protective, supportive and so freaking swoony. I just adored him!

“You’re worthy of all the love in the world. You just have to believe that. Let yourself be loved. Let me love you.”

As the story progresses, there is a side storyline that grows in significance, and Toby and Joanna find themselves swept up into an intriguing and dramatic twist to their journey. It brings even more drama and intensity to their situation, cracking open secrets and forcing them both to confront some serious issues, and I thought it was really nicely woven together, and reignited my excitement for these two together after the lag that occurs in the middle of the book while they’re just dancing around each other.

When you’re so in love with someone you can’t imagine living without them, everything changes.

The big emotional moment comes with drama, passion, intensity and heartclenching swoon, and a feeling of rightness (though it took way longer than I was hoping for). But the build up is worth it for the beauty that is Toby and Joanna together, and though they have things they need to work through, I loved seeing them finally find their way to each other.

“I’m so fucking in love with you, I can barely breathe.”

Characters from the previous book appear. Both Toby and Joanna are individually best friends with Eden (heroine from book #1 in the series, Mister Romance), and both she and Max are there on the sides of the story. We also get glimpses of Jake and Asha from Professor Feelgood. And beloved Nanabeth and her duck are even there – doling out advice, and being the supportive, badass grandma that she is).

I did love this book. It’s a bit angstier than I like, but that’s just me. The characters are gorgeous, the banter and feels are completely on point, and the romance – when we get to it – is absolutely beautiful.

4 stars.

Wow.

I'm tempted to say that if waiting 2 years between books results in a book like this, I'm willing to wait.

Tempted. But no. I'm not that patient. It was with pure joy that I started reading this one.

And it was like hanging out with a friend you haven't seen in a while. If you are new to her books, you can start with this one, it's enough of a standalone that you will be fine. If you aren't new to her books, the humor, the heart and the angst you are expecting, woven into a beautifully written and paced book, are all there.

It's books like this that make you laugh, and cry, and stay up too late reading...and they leave you wanting more. I know I want more. This is not to say the book feels unfinished. It doesn't. It just grabs you and you don't want to let go of the characters and their world.

And what a world it is. Toby is just lovely. He's perfection and doesn't even know it. (Some of the things he says to Jo, you're going to want to read twice as they are perfect.) He thinks he's damaged and flawed. And he is, because we all are. But he also has more to learn about life, and it's nuances. Despite what he wants to believe, not everything in life can be predicted with an algorithm or a scientific formula.

I'm not going to get into too much on this as it's definitely a subplot of the story, but I loved how the inability to scientifically predict emotion was both the thing that drew Toby and Jo together and the thing that kept them apart.

Joanna is...frustrating. And yet relatable. You want to watch her run straight for Toby and never let him go, but you also understand why she doesn't. At first it's more abstract but as you get to know her you understand what stops her. And it breaks your heart for her.

I can't lie, there were a couple of times I wasn't convinced Toby and Jo were going to end up together as their road was complicated by things in and out of their control. It started to feel that maybe things that seem right really aren't and it wouldn't actually have been that much of a stretch in the plot for it to go this way. (Don't worry, it's got a HEA, it's a romance after all.)

There are the usual characters in this one, the friends, family and co-workers who appear in all our lives and make it a full story. There's also an unexpected character. I'm not going to spoil it here (this is where I try to say things about the character while being really vague) but I didn't see them coming and I loved them all the more for it. It's unique and quirky and so perfect for the story that I probably should have seen them coming. I promise, once you've read it, you'll know who I mean.

I could probably say more about this book. But I don't want to ruin any of the joy of this for anyone else. So I'll say I enjoyed and recommend this title.

Welcome back, Ms. Rayven. You have been missed.

Can an app predict who your soulmate will be?
According to the HEA dating app created by Toby Jenner, yes.
According to the results of his attempted match with a woman who caught his eye, Joanna, maybe not.

From the moment Toby and Joanna meet, he is convinced that they are meant for one another. But his app says otherwise, in fact, they are below a 10% chance of a match. OUCH!
So, how does he convince both of them that this one exception is just a mistake? It's all very complicated in this new slow burn romance.

I've read a couple books featuring dating apps, and while this book had some similarities, there are a number of subplots that made this one standout.
1) Toby's financial situation.
With his father's medical condition, Toby was diverting all his money to his family, ultimately leading to his homelessness. In a refreshing twist, the woman serves as a savior of sorts, helping Toby financially.
2) Marcus Crist, enemy number one.
This real estate developer and his shady dealings are a big part of the storyline, not only because he is likely responsible for Toby's father's condition, but he connects to several other characters. Together, they work to hold him accountable. This part of the story added an interesting layer of drama and despite the big twist (which I won't reveal), ultimately helped bring Toby and Joanna closer together.

While you'll need some patience as this couple sorts through their many issues, it was clear to me as a reader that they were a match (despite what the stupid apps says), and it was just a matter of time for them to get on the same page. Overall, a great installment to the series.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4.5)
Trope: forced proximity
Angst: 😱😱😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥

Doctor Love is the super cute story of two people fighting their attraction because they're not "compatible". In the end, they find it's that fight that brings them where they need to be to make it work. This was the first book I've read by this author and I wasn't sure what to expect. The story is told in first person by the hero only, which was a little different for me. Also, it's a super slow burn that reminded me of Mariana Zapata books.

I have to say, I really enjoyed this book. The storytelling is definitely 5 star material, but the slow burn with little to no steam (especially unexpected), may not be for everyone. It definitely isn't my usual fave. The characters were wonderful and the hero in particular. He was a "nice guy" hero that is kind of nerdy and super earnest. The story definitely hit the upper levels of tolerance on my angstometer as well. Definitely a worthy read if those things tic your boxes. Definitely an author I'll be keeping my eye out for if the trope is right and with the knowledge of what I'm getting myself in for.

ARC kindly received for an honest review.

It's been ages since we've had a book from Leisa Rayven, and it was lovely to be back with her words again. I enjoyed this book. Toby and Jo were great. The concept behind Toby's app was also great, and made me wonder about real life versions of it and if there are any.

Jo was frustrating at times, as was the situation between her and Toby, but I just couldn't wait to see how it would play out, and hope for the outcome I wanted. Toby was damn loveable. Such a great guy. I loved these characters and the way their story and the story they were also following unfolded. To say I was surprised by a couple of things isn't wrong.

Definitely recommend this one, and I hope we get more from the author soon!

As much as it pains me to say this, I have to admit that this one didn't hold my attention as 2 previous books which I loved. As much as I liked Toby and Johanna, and their friendship their romnce didn't do anything for me. The really slow burn just lost me at some point. Romance took a second place to the mystery/intrigue plot, and I just didn't care much about it. I loved that Max and Eden played such part i this story, and it was wonderful to see Eden's grandma and her lovely duck back again.

No rating...I loved the previous two books in this series and was so excited to receive an arc of this one. Unfortunately it was very hard for to get through and I tried a couple of times and ended up not finishing. I feel terrible because I wanted to love it but it fell short.

📚This is the third book in the series Master of love, and I must confess that I haven't finished book two 🙈, but I didn't mind because I wanted to read this one so badly from the moment Leisa Rayven announced it. I felt very lucky when I got the ARC because I wasn't expecting it anymore, I didn't think they were going to send it to me.

🧡What a surprise this story was, a book told from the hero’s POV and breaking all the stereotypes I've read about male protagonists.

🧡I loved Toby, he's such a goody that I hate that he doesn't realize he is. Joanna annoyed me sometimes, but after reading on and getting to know her more you end up understanding her.

👵🏻🦆And I've been very happy to meet characters from the first book , Nan and her duck are wonderful 🤣.

🧡Leisa definitely does it again and has given me great moments of laughter and good vibes in most of the book that have made up for the moments when I was suffering for Toby and Joanna fearing there would be no happy ending.

🧡I won't say more because I risk dropping spoilers and would rather you enjoy this story from beginning to end 🥰.

👏🏼Well done Leisa Rayven, what an epic came back after being absent for two years 🤩.

Not to be a downer, but this series has gone downhill the further I've gotten into it. I fell head over heels in love with the first book, the second one was very predictable but still ok, and then came Doctor Love, the recipient of my lowest rating for this series yet.

description

This one stood apart from the previous two books since it was narrated from a male POV. Toby, a.k.a Eden's work husband, was the unlucky-in-love main character of this instalment. Honestly, he was kinda exhausting. The thing is, when you already know a couple is gonna end up together, the intended roller coaster of emotions turns more into a flat stretch of monotonous ground. Toby was pierced by Cupid's arrow in the very first chapter, and from that point forward it was a festival of angsty mental spirals. This was for sure the angstiest book so far in this series. Long gone was the funny banter from Mr. Romance.

description

Joanna also really turned into a big let down this book. Where did the fun, kooky, quirky Joanna of past books go? I was so excited to learn more about her outrageous, unbelievable adventures, but she was so muted and one-dimensional here. Her character and personality were reduced to a bad case of PTSD. Which wasn't helped, either, by the fact there wasn't much to Toby's character besides repressed emotion, neurosis and obsession.

description

The plot of this book just didn't work for me. Toby's whole super-hacktivist thing was a little too far-fetched for my tastes. This story was like a romance book mixed with a thriller spy movie. It was an odd combination that at times sort of worked, but most of the time it didn't quite settle very well. Plus, as I've said, since I already knew from the very first chapter that Toby and Joanna were going to end up together, all the longing and pining seemed fairly pointless. As the saying goes, it's the journey that matters and not the destination, but the trip this book took me in was fairly barren and repetitive, so I found myself quite unenthusiastic about the whole thing.

description

You may be wondering then, if 3 stars was not too high a rating, given that I barely have anything good to say about this story, but to be fair, objectively there wasn't any big issues. It was a well crafted, well written book, I just didn't enjoy reading it. The plot was circular and repetitive, and there wasn't much in terms of development. Overall, just a disappointing experience. But just because it didn't work for me, doesn't mean it won't for you, so I'd encourage you to give it a chance.

Doctor Love is the third book in the Masters of Love series, and will tell the story of Toby, a computer genius who creates an application similar to Tinder, where he gives the percentage of compatibility between you and your partner, on the other side we have the mysterious Johanna.

The book is told in first person, but here we have the whole book being narrated by Toby, which was nice to see. The premise of the book, like the previous books, is similar to those romantic comedy films of the afternoon session, where we have a plot that will hardly happen in real life, but that captivates us by its narrative and characters.

I confess that this book was a little slow for me, but after it took off I was captivated by the story and seeing Tobby and Johanna who had a connection is attraction at first sight to hold back because their compatibility in the app is low, so they believe they don't. It's worth investing in a relationship that is doomed to fail, but every moment they spend together the connection between them only seems to grow.

Toby and Johanna are charismatic characters, as are all the secondary characters that appear here. Johanna is a very mysterious character and now on the page we get to know her a little better and discover the secrets she keeps, it was nice to follow even though I was already imagining where the story would go.

Like the previous books, I think that Doctor Love, through its fun and fast dialogues, brings a message behind it, by showing that love is not something rational and must be analyzed through numbers and graphs. captivating to read from beginning to end.

Doctor Love, book three in Leisa Rayven’s popular Masters of Love series, was completely worth the wait. Sexy, complicated, laugh-out-loud funny, and full of heart, Toby’s story was everything I had hoped it would be.

I know Leisa Rayven’s fans–myself definitely included–have been waiting about four years to see how geek-chic, cardigan-wearing Toby Jenner would finally find his love match. As Eden’s bestie in Mister Romance, I loved their platonic brother-and-sister-type relationship and all the laughs they shared. Toby straight up was a great guy. The type you’d want to have your back in any situation. That’s why my heart went out to him in Doctor Love, which is told from his POV... Read More

Meinung:

ARC received for an honest review

Yay yay yay! New words from Leisa Rayven!

Below is a visual of me reading about Toby

I mean, who doesn't love a cardigan wearing geek?

Joanna though, she is riddle wrapped in a mystery covered in enigma. She frustrated me so much, her push/pull with Toby had me yelling at my ereader telling him run run run just as fast as he can. The way she was throwing a change at real, soul crushing love because of a number - ugh.. But she did get better by the end.

I loved seeing the couples from the first two books in the series (though, I cannot lie, I didn't remember much about them at first, but it all came back to me quickly)

I laughted, I yelled, I shed a tear or two.. and loved every second of it.

Toby Jenner - making cardigans sexy again.

"So it seems I have missed the first two books in this series, but I can confidently say that this story definitely does read as a stand-alone. Admittedly after finishing this one, it has piqued my interest enough that I will read those first two books as soon as I can.
Toby absolutely stole my heart in this book. He was adorably awkward and keeps getting knocked down time and again. Every time something like this happened to him I honestly wanted to reach through my kindle and give him a big hug. I was rooting for him & Joanna to make it as a couple. But it seemed like so much was against them and at times I really started to wonder if they actually would. There was so many ups and downs throughout their story that by the time they actually got there I almost felt exhausted on their behalf. But all of this uncertainty does make for some fabulous reading and I couldn’t imagine it being written any other way. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book"
