He sees a beautiful woman named Sol, but she is married to a sadistic man named Jeronimo. The attraction between Sol and Gabriel is intense, but forbidden. Great characters and storyline. Highly recommended Amazing Book. Love Gabriel,Sol, and especially Lexi. So many twists and turns. Check your trigger warnings. This book ends on a cliffhanger but the next book will be out on January 27.

DESPERATION is the first instalment in Crimson Syn’s contemporary,adult DARK MAFIA ROMANCE series. This is forty-two year old, new head of the Mexican American Mafia Gabriel ‘El Rey’ Falcon Aguirre, and twenty-one year old Sol Dominguez’ story line.

Told from several first person perspectives (Gabriel, Sol, Ivan, Jeronimo) DESPERATION follows in the aftermath of the assassination of Gabriel Aguirre’s father Ernest Aguirre, the head of LaFamilia Aguirre. As the new leader, Gabriel is expected to continue the ruthless reign of his father but Gabriel has spent most of his life running his legitimate business, and wants nothing to do as his father’s heir until Gabriel comes face to face with another wounded bird, in the guise of twenty-one year old Sol Dominguez, a young woman sold by her family into sexual slavery for a debt owed, then forced to marry a man just as evil as Gabriel’s father but all is not well in La Familia Aguirre, as someone else is pulling the strings behind the scenes, throwing Gabriel into a war with the Mexican and Columbian Cartel. What ensues is the tempestuous, age-gap relationship between Sol and Gabriel, and the fall-out as the dead refuse to die, and Gabriel discovers that that he and Sol have been used as pawns for bigger and more dangerous control.

DESPERATION is a fast paced, novella length story of power and control, desperation and obsession, murder and vengeance, and dysfunctional family dynamics. The premise is dark, gritty and raw; the romance is provocative; the characters are colorful, dangerous and powerful. DESPERATION ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

This is a dark mafia romance. You will want to heed the warnings in the beginning of the book because it will contain triggers for some readers.
This is the story of Gabriel and Sol. He is a man who I loved learning how he became the man he is today. He has inherited a mafia empire. A empire that he vowed to himself he would never ever want or need in the world he wants to live in. He isn't happy at all and he does not plan to sit on that throne long at all. He is a man who deep down wants to love a woman and have that love returned to him. On one of his darker days he has a chance encounter with Sol. She is the most interesting and intriguing woman who has a shy side to her. She is also the wife of Gabriel's biggest enemy and he knows that she didn't get there by choice and there is no way that he can let her stay with this monster since he was drawn to her life a moth to a flame and was determined to save her. After all when you have found the light to your darkness, a darkness you vowed never to fall prey too, yo is married to a soulless man in a very loveless marriage. He actually bought her in a auction. She is a woman who is trapped with no way out of the situation until the day she meets Gabriel. Slowly she starts to see the man that is underneath the man who is going about everything all wrong. In fu will do anything to keep that light in your life. Sol is a girl that I don't even know how she functions some day since sheact I felt like sometimes Gabriel was a mess. But if I had to face what he has to face I would probably be the same way. This book is of course filled with twist and turns that things that will keep you reading and on the edge of your seat. I loved falling for Gabriel right along with Sol and I really rooted so hard for these two through the entire book.
