Publisher's summary

He’s everything I’ve ever wanted, at the worst possible moment.

One and done. That’s always been my motto when it comes to guys, because I’m not about to pull someone else into the closet my parents have locked me inside. I’ve been waiting years to claim my inheritance and live the life I want to live–out, free, and, oh yeah, rich.

So why is the universe dropping the sexy farm boy with the lazy smile into my life right now? When Bowen Whitlock says he’ll join my band, and later my bed, I know one time won’t be enough.

But loving Bowen is dangerous for me. And he has his own struggles, like keeping his family afloat and trying not to get fired from his job at Vino and Veritas. But he lives his life with an authenticity that gives me a tantalizing taste of living my truth.

My secret relationship with Bowen is everything, until someone betrays us in the worst possible way....

Great story! Worth the credit.

I’m really enjoying this series. Each story can be read as a standalone but you do encounter the other characters in all the books. I loved this story. I was hooked from the beginning. It is well written with great character development. Very well put together, you don’t feel like anything is missing. One this I also live about this series is that it’s exposing me to new authors. I can’t wait to check out more by this author because I really love her writing style.

Great addition to the series 🍷

First story by this author and I loved it. Just a little bit of angst and a lot of HEA. Sweet story that I’ll listen to again. Narrators were great.

Being Your Truest Self

Audiobook Review
Overall 4.5 stars
Performance 5 stars
Story 4 stars

Dauntless was a really cute and sexy MM romance. I loved the chemistry between Bowen and Chase (that hot tub scene was scorching!) and it's hard to believe that this is Victoria Denault's first time writing MM romance. I haven't had a chance to read any of the other books in the In Vino Veritas series yet and had no problem jumping right in.

Things to look forward to:

- The tropes! Instalust, forced proximity, workplace/band mate, sexual instruction/lessons, virgin hero (he's been with OW/OM before, but no OM penetration), just a hook up
- Bowen's family. I loved how tight knit they were (even before the tragedy that brought them even closer together). It was such a contrast to Chase's family and I think it was perfectly said when Bowen noted that his siblings were as vital to him as his own limbs.
- The narration. Teddy Hamilton and John Lane were chef's kiss. They were so wonderfully cast and were the perfect Bowen and Chase. Those spicy scenes almost made my airpods melt!
- The spice! This book was so sexy. *bites fist* I loved how these two didn't rush into anything they weren't ready for. It made the build up so delicious and I loved how they explored and were vulnerable with each other.
- The Wesmie easter egg/nod was so cute! I may have squealed a bit when I heard them discussing the book in the bookstore.

I wasn't sure at first if the conflict regarding the inheritance would work for me, but as I got to know the characters, I definitely understood the reasoning behind it. I knew the pushaway in the third act was coming, but it was still tough. If these two would have just taken a moment to talk to each other, a lot could have been avoided, but I understand why each was wary and hurt. The ending was wonderful though and made me so happy to see Chase finally able to be his truest self.

CW: death of parents & loved ones (past), insomnia, homophobia, strained family relationships, financial insecurity, slander/libel, marijuana use

Great Performance, Good Story

Bowen's sister needs her own book. Narrators did an amazing job. Story was fine.
