Each story introduces a new element. I really like the series. But now I need book 4! Where's it going to go from here? This story expands on the relationship and the main characters get to know themselves and each other better. It's exciting and fun. Once again, I love that the vampire character isn't perfect. I don't always feel like the story is wrapped up neatly, but it works, and so much happens in 79 pages that the author can't really waste pages on a more complete ending. This is such a fun series! The writing is still really good. I only caught 3 minor proofing errors. Waiting on book 4!

These are fast-paced Novellas, a lot of action, and good continuation of the relationship between Jade, a 150 Year Old Vampire and Beth, a firefighter with their own gifts, who doesn't know the whole truth.

Jade's past comes back to haunt her in this installment, and the relationship is tested.

Good short story. Another installment of the Jade the vampire series. I really like the relationship between Jade and Beth it just keeps getting better and better. This time it's Beth that's dealing with her emerging powers and everything that comes with it. I have come to love the hilarious head voice of Jade she really has a way of saying in her head what everyone else is thinking and not letting on that things are about to go haywire. This series just keeps getting better and better, and I would definitely recommend it to my friends and family, and I look forward to what's next from this author.

This novella is a tutorial on 21st century vampirism. Jade, the main character, is in love with a human firefighter, Beth, but hasn’t told her she’s a vampire. What Jade doesn’t know is that Beth has a secret of her own. When Jade’s maker and former girlfriend shows up things go very wrong.

Barett’s characters are not well developed in this story perhaps because she expends too many words on lessons on vampirism. Jade comes across as being way too immature for a century-plus old vampire while Beth isn’t developed much at all. That being said, Barett gives her readers a character to truly dislike in Jade’s ex-girlfriend.

If you’d like to read a book about vampires that doesn’t have a lot of Gothic darkness to it, this book is for you. If you like your vampire books to have traditional vampires in it and enjoy all the bloodletting of the Victorian-era vampires, this book isn’t for you.
