I only recently purchased this backpack for bike commuting because my old Swissgear was showing its age and freshman year style. I needed a new bag mostly to carry clothes, a towel, laptop, and any other odds and ends I needed for work. First impressions: Comfortable for its size, looks great, pseudo-clamshell design is excellent for what I needed, and great water bottle holder to top it off.Unfortunately, I was only able to take this bag to work twice. On the second day of my now much easier loaded commute, I got in a bike accident that left me in the hospital for a weekend. I was hit head on by a car going about 40mph as I was turning. While my ribs and sternum cracked under pressure, my legs faltering at the idea of walking soon after, this backpack held up to the test of force. The EMTs even had to cut the straps off of me because the form fitting and comfortable body mounting points were just too strong for my now broken sternum. This backpack also protected my laptop through all of this. I have a 15" glass and metal dell xps, and it emerged from this ordeal with one corner slightly dinged up, where the pack hit the ground at full speed. No broken glass, just a small dent on a fairly sturdy laptop. I can barely even find where this impact happened, as the material on the backpack held up very well, not even poking a hole through to the main compartment,Overall, definitely recommend this backpack for anyone who rides bikes and has any chance of being hit head on by a mid sized van at any point in the future. I would still be using it, but it no longer has any straps, so it's just a glorified handbag now.

I was planning a weeklong trip to Italy and wanted a backpack-style carry-on. First I bought a High Sierra backpack that looked pretty good from another site. Before it arrived, I spotted this Blink Pack deeply discounted, and I really liked the sleek look, so I bought it as well. The High Sierra pack arrived, and it seems good. When the Blink arrived, my initial reaction, like some other reviewers, was "No way, this is much too small." But like I said, I really liked the sleek look, so I started throwing some stuff in it, and had the same reaction as some other reviewers, i.e. "Dang, you can really cram a lot of stuff in this thing. I ended up taking the Blink on my trip, and it was perfect. Very compact, but deceptively roomy. If you don't care about having a lot of little pockets all over your pack inside and out, this is a great choice. It appears to be very well-made and durable (time will tell). Not as big as most other backpack carry-ons, but will hold much more than you expect and is easier to shlep around. I like it a lot, and will probably return the High Sierra bag, not that there's anything wrong with it, but I don't like accumulating a lot of stuff I don't need (though I end up doing that pretty often anyway).

I got this thinking it would be good for short trips, and it's been absolutely fantastic. The bag is small enough that if you don't overpack it, it'll fit under airplane seats, on your lap on a taxi, and in small lockers, yet its clamshell opening allows you to use stuffpacks and use it like a suitcase. The straps and back padding don't have a full suspension, but are sufficient for point-to-point travel with a few hours of carry here and there.

The smooth material makes it so it's decently rain/splashproof, and when you're maneuvering it around in tight spaces, it's very easy to squeeze and slide, but never slippery, and the material offers some rigidity so it's not flopping all over the place. The laptop pouch offers decent protection, and there assortments of pockets in the same area are easily accessible.

Some minor things:
I wish it had more pockets on the front and inside of the bag itself.
I wish it had a pocket for water bottles on both sides; not just one.

If you're considering a bag for max carry-on, you might want to consider how big such a bag can be. The Blink is much smaller, but it turns out to be the max size *I* am willing to carry, and yet, it has most of the travel-friendly features that the max carry-on bags have, while making minor concessions like not having a jumbo suspension system and not having max carry.

I've used this on 1-4 day trips for short vacations, conferences, and business trips, and it's been the perfect bag for me. Hope it works for you!

Tons of space without looking bulky, waterproof and slick - this bag delivers.

I had been looking for a bag for months; I needed something large enough to hold my work and workout clothes, food, have enough small compartments, and a separate padded laptop pocket for TSA and direct access. Finally, I commute by bike so I needed something reflective that sits tight on my back. After long research I was undecided between the Timbuk2 Especial Medio and the Blink. The Especial looked great at first, but turned out to be way too big, and its laptop bag was too loose for my liking. I had my doubts about the Blink but they all went away as soon as I held it in hand.

The Blink has a perfect laptop pocket: two compartments, and an internal organizer pocket for small stuff. The main compartment is HUGE and fits everything I need and more. I can now stop by the store on my way home and pack it with some groceries on top of everything I already have in my bag - and it holds it all. Main compartment also has a large internal organizer mesh pocket which is great to keep smaller things you don't access often. Finally, there's a small padded top pocket on the outside of the bag that's great for wallet/keys.

I got the blue variant because it was almost twice cheaper than the black. It looks awesome and I probably won't trade it for black now even if I could. Material is sturdy and repels water; I haven't had a chance to go through intense rain with it yet, but it looks like it'll withstand most rain while keeping the inside dry.

This bag looks great and the size was perfect for me. It’s not so big that I look like a backpacker but big enough to hold my work and gym stuff without being overpacked. Not completely waterproof but held up very well when I got caught in a rain storm. Some moisture did get in but none of my stuff really got wet. I wish it had more pockets/compartments for organization but the open main compartment is great for packing clothes or gear for a weekend trip. It’s pretty comfortable but I don’t think I’d really load this bag up with too much weight. Overall I’m very satisfied with this backpack and would buy it again.

Pros:
the zip-around section opens all the way up for easy loading/unloading and carrying lots of papers (I am a trainer)

Great sturdy but also lightweight fabric exterior

nice fit for a small human (I'm 5'4" 125lb) with chest-straps for cycling and great padded adjustable straps

and very clean and professional looking

Computer pocket easily fits my 13" retina macbook pro but anything larger would not fit in this computer pocket

Suggestions for improvement, it's ALL about the pockets!

water-bottle side pocket were taller or more elasticated, my bottle falls out if bag is flat (airplane overhead eg)

deeper outside top pocket its too short to hold my checkbook wallet. There is space to make it another 3' deeper!

inside pocket (computer side with the key leash) were larger as it's the only other pocket for small stuff so it becomes more of the "handbag" section.

I'd like a double-zipper on the computer section as the zipper head gets stuck down under the side straps and can be hard to open (low priority though because this also makes it harder to pick-pocket!

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice looking bag for EDC or minimalist travel but it's not for me
Reviewed in Canada on July 23, 2019
Color: Jet BlackVerified Purchase
PROS: Quality materials; good organization; nice looking

The organization is simple - one small zip pocket on the front, a big main compartment, and a separate laptop compartment. The laptop compartment was well thought out. The pocket for the laptop was suspended from the bottom, so the laptop is protected if the bag is dropped. The laptop compartment is also still accessible when the compression straps on the other part of the bag are cinched, which isn't the case on some bags I've looked at. The central main compartment holds a couple of medium sized packing cubes or one large one with perhaps enough room for a pair of flip flops or slim shoes. Would probably hold about 5 days worth of clothes, enough for the minimalist one-bag traveller. The nicely padded top grab handle is worth a mention too.

CONS: Sternum strap not fixed in place; not designed with the female form in mind

The sternum strap slides around easily which could get annoying. The backpack straps are well-padded but didn't curve enough to fit around my bust. Not comfortable at all. Will have to return it for this reason.
