Publisher's summary

This is the next book in the USA Today best-selling series The K9 Files.

Being a badass growing up had been fine for a while, but Kurt knew his life had to change. His best option? The US Navy. Fourteen years later a serendipitous request from Badger to check out reports of a missing War Dog hidden in the bushes and attacking people sends Kurt to the very place he couldn’t wait to get out of.

When Kurt chose the navy over Laurie Ann so long ago, he left her with a gift she’d fought long and hard to keep. Plus she didn’t give up on her dream of becoming a doctor. When Kurt returns, it’s hard not to see the same person she’d loved in this older version. Yet the town has a long memory, and at least one person isn’t willing to see who Kurt is now.

But, as always, he’s a trouble magnet. Was he capable of handling the nightmare they were in, or would he leave, just like he had last time?

The past catches up with our hero!

There’s much more “war dog” in this #12 in the series. Gregory Salinas is an excellent narrator. The characters are believable and the story is one of the best. The dog is found early and plays a more integral part of the story. Again, this is a romance and it’s a good one. Yes I would highly recommend this book. There’s lots of action and a respect for the war dogs and the military.

Kurt, and K9 Sabine

Kurt is on a one man mission to retrieve a lost K9 from the War Dogs program. This dog is in Kurt's hometown. Kurt was a bad boy in his youth and leaving to join the Navy was his saving grace. Now he is back and runs into the girl he was seeing when he was young. Laurie Ann has a secret she needs to tell Kurt but it will change his life. he has a right to know but it has been 13 years since he left so he has missed out on a lot. Kurt confronts a group of youths who are up to no good and gets shot by one of them. Laurie Ann is a pediatrician so Kurt contacts her to get him patched up. One thing leads to another and Kurt finds out what he has missed out on for 13 years. In his efforts to save Sabine, Kurt and Laurie Ann are put in danger but due to Kurt's past he is having a hard time getting cooperation from law enforcement. I love this book, it had me on the edge of my seat.
