4.0 out of 5 stars Couple of design faults in high winds but otherwise great tent
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 17, 2020
Bought for wild camping and bike packing the NC500. I’m 6ft4 and found the sleeping compartment spacious, but would definitely not use as a two man. It’s recommended to buy a separate ground sheet which I found for £70. It also comes with 11 tent pegs which means you don’t have enough to stake out all the guy lines in windy conditions (14 tent pegs needed in total). The entry vestibule is tiny, but due to the design of the tent you can collapse part of the sleeping compartment to get wet kit off and warm kit on out of the rain. THE BIGGEST design floor is that the fly sheet only connects to the pole structure via a single velcro tab (position 2 on photo), which leaves the pole structure very mobile at the foot end of the tent and it loses its shape (position 1). For this reason you can’t pitch the tent with the vestibule pointing away from the direction of wind / rain. A second velcro tab at the position i’ve highlighted (position 1) would fix this problem completely. In the second photo you can see how the fly moves away from the pole structure and creates a lot of flapping noises making it difficult to sleep.
Other than these faults this tent was very good, kept me warm and dry in heavy wind and rain on exposed terrain, was extremely light and easy to put up in the rain.
