Customers like the performance of the electronic device cooling pad. They mention that it works great, keeps their laptop ice-y cool, and the wall hangers work great. The temperature sensor really works, and it still runs well after at least 8 hours. The auto function does work, but it won't kick the turbo mode until about 90-92 degrees Fahrenheit. Overall, most are happy with the performance and recommend it to others.

This ThermalTake MASSIVE (TM) laptop cooling pad exceeds my EVERY expectation! Interestingly, the dual fans run at a very high RPM without producing very much air volume, CFM. However, the combination of the aluminum surface and the large air ventilation footprint are EXTREMELY effective at pulling out the heat and sending in the KOOL.
The control console offers both automatic and manual options for controlling the base temp. and, thus, the fan RPM. I set the base temp. and then select the auto setting. The pad thermally monitors the base temp and runs through the four turbo fan settings as needed in order to maintain the optimum temp. that I locked into the config panel.
I set the base at 80 and it stays within 2 degrees either side of that temp. This marvelous ThermalTake MASSIVE (TM) cooling pad immediately went to work on lowering the operating temp of my laptop that is situated atop the cooling pad. My laptop houses a Gen. 11, i7 CPU that typically operates at between 120 and 150 Fahrenheit. The exhaust air from my Dell PC normally fluctuates from 112 up to 117, as the normative operating temp. Within minutes of activating this cooling pad, it effectively reduced the exhaust temp by 30 degrees, down to 85!!! AMAZING!! My PC's fan doesn't even cycle at all!
No matter at what setting the turbo is running, I CAN NOT HEAR THE FANS over the basic normative room ambiance in my home.
The ThermalTake MASSIVE (TM) cooling pad features two USB ports. One to provide power to the pad and the other is an aux. Out, for running I/O peripherals. Hence, I didn't loose any valuable USB ports.
There are two retractable supports on the rear of the pad that have two settings. These avail me three options from flat to a 2" lift in the rear for angling the cooling pad. Without employing the rear supports the cooling pad is 1" high in the front and 1.75" in the rear. With the rear supports extended, the cooling pad raises up to a 3.75" height in the rear.
The aluminum top surface is VERY slippery. There are 4 pegs that protrude up through the aluminum surface. Two positioned forward and two near the back of the aluminum surface. They are spring tensioned so that they can be manipulated up and down, yet provide resistance in order to prevent the laptop from sliding. All four also adjust laterally from left to right. These are supposed to engage the bottom of the laptop in order to secure it. In my case, they do very little in the way of accomplishing that. Hence, I keep the pad surface level and have employed a thin textured rubber film, that adheres to the aluminum surface, all around the aluminum perimeter as well as down its center. This accomplishes much toward stabilizing my laptop upon the cooling pad.
The ThermalTake MASSIVE (TM) is a VERY well engineered device that is manufactured with high quality materials. Yet, it is deceptively lightweight for being as sturdy and robust as it is.
Pros:
1) Lightweight, yet very well built
2) QUIET
3) EXTREMELY effective cooling device
4) 2 USB ports
5) Either self regulating or manually controlled
6) Sturdy, two position, support extensions for angling the surface
Cons:
1) The aluminum surface offers nothing toward preventing the laptop from sliding around
2) There is no static positioned front barrier that would prevent the laptop from sliding forward when the rear supports are utilized

With this thing I've turned off the throttling. This keeps idle temperatures about 8c lower, and it makes it difficult to get the CPU hot enough for the fan to ramp all the way up.
It seems to just make the internal cooling more efficient.
The cons:
1. The temperature readout is a joke, so this thing never speeds up on its own. I've left it on "auto" which seems to keep it running on the lowest speed (which is plenty for me). It's possible the temperature readout would work better on laptops with aluminum cases. But for me it just reads 24c all the time.
2. The vibrations are greater than I'd like to see, but they're in line with desktop computer fans. I wouldn't worry about spinny hard disks. But if you actually used your laptop keyboard this might be annoying.
3. There's no actual manual. You're left to guess about how to control it...
My old Alienware M17x is huge, old, and runs VERY hot. In fact, it has been frequently giving me blue screens of death as it crashes and shuts down from overheating. Simply browsing the internet keeps the fans blowing hard (and I've cleaned it out several times) and doing something like video viewing or editing cranks up the fans to jet engine sound level.
So I wasn't expecting miracles with the Massive A21 cooling pan, but it comes pretty close. While I'd thought I'd prefer a dial to adjust the fan speed rather than normal and high, the single large fan is quiet enough I just keep it on high. The controls are simple - a small on/off switch on the back side of the panel, and a button that gives you normal and high speeds. But honestly, that's all I need. This pad is all about simple. I didn't get the one with the thermal sensors because that's just one more thing to go wrong - I can push the button for normal and high with better discretion than some sensors. Plugs into a laptop USB port. It does not have a USB port on it, so you do lose a USB port on your laptop, but I have 4 on mine and I never need more than two at a time anyway.
Since I've started using this pad, my notebook fans stay quiet, and the bottom of the laptop stays cool. The bottom of this laptop hasn't been cool while running for two years! No more crashes, and very quiet again. For the money, well, cheaper than the new notebook I thought I was going to have to purchase due to the overheating of this one.
