Small Town Spin: A Nichelle Clarke Crime Thriller, Book 3 Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 1,591 ratings

Crime reporter Nichelle Clarke ventures out to a tiny Chesapeake Bay island community, helping a friend search for answers in the wake of unthinkable tragedy. But in small towns like this, some rocks are never meant to be overturned....

Perfect for fans of James Patterson, J.D. Robb, and Melinda Leigh.

T.J. had the world in the palm of his hand. He was handsome. Popular in school. Smart. A stellar athlete. The son of superstar pro quarterback Tony Okerson, he seemed destined to follow in his father's footsteps to a career of gridiron glory.

That bright, shining dream ends when T.J.'s lifeless body is found on a rocky shoreline near his family's Chesapeake Bay home.

Due to his father's past fame, the tragedy ignites a media frenzy in the normally serene island community. Through a mutual friend, the grieving parents turn to reporter Nichelle Clarke for help. Nichelle agrees to write the story herself and attempt to quell the national media circus.

But as Nichelle begins to explore the facts surrounding the death, she discovers some shocking details. Something doesn't fit. And while the local sheriff wants to stamp the case a drug overdose and move on, Nichelle becomes convinced that foul play may have been involved.

To the townsfolk, Nichelle is an outsider, putting her nose where it doesn't belong. But in her experience, that's exactly where the most damning secrets are kept. And the further she follows the evidence trail, the more Nichelle realizes that this sleepy coastal village is anything but innocent....

I had resisted reading this series because I had read a review of the first book, indicating that the main character was shallow and interested only in shoes. How wrong that reviewer was! Nichelle Clarke is a fun, smart, capable, and compassionate crime reporter who goes above and beyond to get the story. I have loved each of the books in this series, but I believe this one is the best so far! The plots and subplots were well-written, and I did not guess who the perpetrators were at all. The author handled the emotional situations on which the mystery was based with a depth of feeling that easily transferred to the readers. Even though there were "heavy" scenes, these were balanced by humor and witty dialog. I don't normally like love triangles, but Nichelle's love interests don't seem to be contrived; I look forward to seeing who she eventually ends up with. . . and maybe there's even a chance for Parker. I love how their friendship has evolved! Can't wait for the next book!

This is the third installment of the Nichelle Clark crime series. Michelle is a crime reporter for a newspaper and she's really good at her job. She's also good at getting involved in some of the crimes she covers and can sniff out a mystery faster than lightning. She's also in the habit of getting injured and spending time in emergency rooms.

This time it's the suicide of the best athlete in a small town. He also happens to be the son of a three time super bowl winning athlete. This makes it huge news all over the country. She manages to get exclusive access to the football hero and his wife. She knows right away that something else is going on. Leaving it at that.

The other part of the story involved Nichelle's relationships with her ex-boyfriend from high school who has now moved to the city she lives in. He's a federal agent. She also has a friendship with a high ranking mobster. Interesting goings on with that. I just hope it doesn't turn into a true love triangle or her continuing a juggling act between the two. I stopped reading a similar famous series for that. Just saying. I already have the next book waiting. All in all a good read!

The death of the teenager son of a friend leads Nichelle to a small Chesapeake island and a rural community that remains mostly closed to her. As an outsider she is without many of her typical resources, but doubts about the death which is only the first in a series keeps Nichelle smelling another headline story, At the same time things heat up with both of her bad boy mobster and law enforcer old flame who combine to encourage her to back off and stay safe. A great story and a good mystery.

I have become a fan of LynDee Walker. This latest offering of hers , "Small Town Spin", is a mystery that keeps you guessing right up to the end, and that's the kind of mystery I can really sink my teeth into. I have found over the years of reading, that I've become pretty good at guessing whodunit, but this one had me wondering right up until the time that the heroine, Nichelle Clarke, figures it out for herself! I am anxiously waiting for the next LynDee Walker novel (due out sometime in January, 2015)
The High Heel Mysteries have more than one author, and that really confused me to begin with, but I have read both authors' novels, and I'm still waiting for LynDee's next read! The three I've read are all very enjoyable, and I also love that Nichelle is torn between two sexy men, Joey and Kyle! Which shall it be? I know who I'm routing for, but you read LynDee's novels, and make your own choice!! Keep going LynDee Walker, we're waiting!

Nichele Clarke doesn't buy the theory that popular teen has committed suicide. When his girlfriend also dies, she finds more clues to support her suspicions. She tries to get to the bottom of things with the he!p of two equally hunky, but very different guys. Oh Nicey, you got some splainin' to do.

Parker a co-worker with Nichelle at the paper has asked a favor. She agrees and is soon embroiled in a small coastal town in Matthews county Virginia! Seems a couple of high schools kids have turned up dead. Looks like these athletes were drinking moonshine…but how did they buy it so how did they get it, where, who would give it to them they were high school athletes! Nichelle starts to dig her heels in and starts asking lots of questions, running into roadblocks, so she calls on an old beau Kyle, with ATF and the Richmond police department for help from her sources…oh and her “friend” Joey for help also😊 there is so much to enjoy about these books, I an hooked and need to get the rest of them! You won’t go wrong 😊😊

I began reading your Michelle Clarke series with book #4. I WAS so impressed with the authors writing that I started to buy the first book. I got it free when I signed up for email and your readers club. I hope to be a life long reader of your books. The more I read the more I wanted to read all. I purchased the rest of the series for now. I fell in love with the characters and hope you will extend the MICHELLE CLARKE SERIES. If J. D Rob can write 48 books of the "Death" series so can you. I love your books & I read her whole series 4 times. Want to read more. Betty Lawson

Nichelle Clarke is my hero! LynDee Walker has created a smart, sassy character with a dream sense of humour and a love life that sees her torn between a Federal cop and a New Jersey mafioso. In this third outing Nichelle's instinct that the apparent suicide of the sports superstar of a small Virginia County High School is in fact murder leads to a thoroughly entertaining investigation with a glut of suspects and motives. A really enjoyable read, I would recommend this series very highly.

Sooooo good. I loved the two first books of the series, but I think this one is my favorite. Great story line, funny and lovable characters. I want more of Kyle and Joey. Honestly, I read it in just one day. I just can't wait until the next one.

I am a big fan of LynDee Walker!
