I have loved this product since I discovered it about fifteen years ago. It has gotten to be impossible to find locally. Was pleased to find it available to order from Wal-Mart.

Contractors' Solvent

Having been a painting contractor for many years, I've used just just about every solvent out there for a myriad of applications.  There are many chemicals one can use to remove a variety of adhesives, most which are very high in VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds).  One of the biggest challenges is removing old/cured silicone.  Silicone, in particular is extremely problematic, especially if it's adhered to painted or stained surfaces.  While there are chemicals available that can help soften and lift silicone, they are what we call "hot", meaning that while they will loosen the bond, they are fumy, cause irritation to the skin, eyes and lungs, cause dulling of surface around and under the area where the silicone has been applied, and will almost always, remove the base coat as well, i.e. paint, stain, varnish, urethane, lacquer, etc.  Remember:  You can't paint or put any other product over silicone without it curtailing, lifting or peeling.   That said, I was skeptical that De-Solv-it,  could remove the 10 year old thick cured silicone on my black,  polyurethaned  wood  floor, ( which I discover when I pulled up the old carpeting) without bringing it down to bear wood.  Well, it did just that!  Admittedly, there was a bit of time, spend using pure elbow grease, a sharp putty knife and a small brass bristle wire brush, and as a consequence, I did remove some of the finish in places along with the silicone, but it was minimal, and worth the tradeoff.  Now I can at least go back and re-stain and finish the areas that need some touching up.  To be clear, De-Solv-it did not magically, cause the silicone to simply liquefy to the point where I could wipe it off the floor with a rag or peel it off with a putty knife, with no effort (especially where it had been applied thick) but it did soften and loosen it up, with little effect on the original finish, which resulted in a fairly easy removal process, plus as a bonus, it did not burn my skin, eyes, or fill my lungs with caustic fumes.  I highly recommend this product!

De-Solv-it For Removal of Cured Silicone

AMAZING   is the Best cleaning solvent Ive eber used.  It even cleaned PVC glue and purple primer.   It cleans everything and yet doesnt irritate skin.

It Solves All Clean Up Issues

We have used it for years and find it removes glue marks left by masking tape, other tapes and store stickers quickly.  It has never done any damage.  It's a time saver.
