Product Care
Your StormLoft Down Topquilt is a high performance piece of gear. It needs some extra attention to keep it performing at the highest level.
Please read through the care instructions below to ensure that you care for it properly:
Before Washing:
Always wash your down product completely alone to prevent down migration. - Never wash your down product in a washing machine that has an agitator. - If you cannot follow either of these prior instructions you should hand wash your sleeping bag using the detergent and drying process described below.
The Wash & Dry Process:
Use a mild detergent like Dreft (for babies) or Nikwax (for technical gear). - Choose Low Spin or Delicate wash - Choose Cold Wash & Cold Rinse. - Hang dry until the sleeping bag is completely dry. - Then loft and redistribute your down insulation in the dryer by running it for 10 minutes on low or no heat with 3 dryer balls.
Long Term Storage:
Do not store down product compressed long term. Long term compression weakens the insulation's ability to loft and therefore insulate. - We recommend hanging it in your closet or using the included storage sack between uses.

Comes with stuff sack in same material as outer shell; would have preferred compression sack/larger net bag storage combo.
This is a fine, very lightweight, cozy, backpacking top-quilt.
Pros:
*Lightwieght
*Warm(I took it to 30 degrees and was too hot)
*Less expensive than other option
Cons:
*They put the cinch cord for your neck right in the middle. This means that as your trying to sleep its rubbing on your chin...very uncomfortable. I was able to loosen it slightly and relieve to discomfort. However, this let in a slight draft. Had it been too much colder this would have been an issue.
The quilt itself is shockingly thin. So much so, that upon initial inspection, I was certain this was nowhere near the 30 Degree rating. However, after fluffing it in the dryer (no heat) and testing this thing out, I was amazed. It cooks! Good job Outdoor Vitals, you got these quilts right. A perfect blend of ultralight, packability, and performance!
So here is the review. The attached picture shows what the down filling looks like. I'm holding it against a window. and you can easily look through.
As I am a buyer from Germany I also want to apologize for my below average english skills. Hopefully, you can get the message out of it nevertheless. So, let‘s Go:
I was excited and opened the Amazon packing.
The quilt ( I ordered and received the long and wide version) was only packed in a pvc bag which was already damaged. No Original outdoor vitals box etc (I‘ve Seen someone unpacking his quilt in an Video out of a nice box with someone Info material, a Sticker of your company). Not very much important, but somehow disappointing.
After that I pulled the quilt out of the stuff sack and layed it on the floor in my Apartment. I waited 1hour and looked after lt again to check the fillpower. But it didn‘t develop very much since then.
So I decided to shake the quilt up and down and tried to bring air into the baffles. Just tried everything to get the downs expand to their Maximum fillpower.
After 1 day (!) the baffles height didn‘t improve very much. Is this really 800cuin quality?
Are the downs of Lower quality and/or damaged due to longterm storage in a stuff sack?
Already more than only disappointed I tried to check something other: The filling weight. This stormloft 0 degree is labeled to be filled with 610g down.
I checked the weight: The total weight is already well below 31oz: Not Even 29oz. But how much is the filling weight? Maybe the quilt construction with baffles, the cords etc and the 10d ripstop is heavier?
To check this I would need to pull out all downs with a vacuum cleaner. Then I could check the exact filling weight and the fillpower ( and compare it with 650cuin, 700cuin and 800 cuin which I have all). But I‘m not willing to this work, not yet.
I took the quilt and Started shaking the quilt by holding the top side of the quilt in my hands. After some attempts Most of the Upper down moved to the foot direction. The shocking fact:
Almost 60cm of the Upper part were free of downs now. Holding the quilt against the sky, I was able to look through the Fabric and also see the baffle walls inside. That means: Only shaking it causes 1/3 of the body protecting part being completely empty, no downs at all.
At least I expected the lower part - now being full of downs- to show Full potential and loft like crazy. But it didn’t.
The baffles were thicker now in the lower parts, of course, but not what I was expecting.
Fact: There aren‘t 610gr of downs in the quilt, not even close to that number!
And probably the downs don‘t have 800cuin. I doubt that they ever had this fillpower in their life.
Maybe you can also hear my anger through these lines. I bought this quilt, because I trusted in this company. I trusted in their words, believed them. Read the key facts of this quilt which they are advertising: Fillpower, Filling weight.

I've had the quilt for about 3 year now and used it in the high alpine of the Wind Rivers and the Wasatch mountain ranges. That being said this product is absolutely amazing! Not sure how everyone else is having problems with it. This thing keeps me very warm, almost too warm!
I'm buying the 30° to add to my collection for summer camping and for those cool desert nights.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ in my opinion.
