Well written, good pacing, intriguing surprises. Better than I can say for many books. And thank Godand thank the author for NO DAMN PROLOGUE! I do not buy books with prologues.

I was compelled by every word on every page of this book. If that’s not enough to convince you to read it, then there’s nothing else I can do. But I will tell you, this book will stay with you and it’s so interesting! It’s a love story, it’s a mystery, it’s a psychological thriller l, ALL IN ONE! You’ll fall in love the characters, flaws and all.

This story was nothing I was expecting, several twists that kept things going. I will say I really struggled to like the main character. She just seemed very selfish and I often had to take a reading break due to her being annoying. The story overall was good and a quick read.

This was hard to put down! The questions just keep piling up. Keri and Nathan have been married 25 years. In that time they’ve built a successful business and raised a family, and then Keri made a mistake. The affair meant nothing, but the jilted lover isn’t taking the rejection well. When strange things start to happen Keri blames it on the affair, terrified her secret will come out. Then Nathan begins acting strangely and Keri wonders if he has secrets of his own. Who is out to get them and why? You’ll have to read the book to find out!

I had not read this author before. It was a good read and not a predictable ending. I would read this if your looking for something to read and don’t want to get too invested.

Keri has a brief affair, but when she puts an end to it, her ex-lover threatens he will make her regret using him for only selfish pleasure. He wants her to leave her husband of twenty-five years, but Keri has no intention of leaving Nathan. What follows is a cautionary tale filled with plot twists and turns. Once again, Valerie Keogh has written a gripping psychological thriller that won’t disappoint!

Seemed like a good premise… but quickly ran out of steam. Downhill from one turn after another. Certainly did not tie together at all…. The ending…. very weak.

It’s not always the story or plot, the writing style was elegant and clear, it was a fast read and easy to get the story.

This was just ok. Somewhat predictable. Did like the the two main characters but story could have been much better. I would give it 3 1/2 stars.

I have read many books by this author and have enjoyed them. But not this one. It dragged. I gave up on it many times but then completed it to be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really suspensful
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 27, 2023
A great read . My second from Valerie Keogh. As with the first one , The Widow, there was an overly happy ending, that was at odds with the rest of the book. I'd have preferred something different to be honest. I love the mix of absolute hellish experiences and cosy scenarios, like cooking eggs and bacon and hugging mugs of hot chocolate, after a hard day. I tune in to Valerie's style of writing from page 1. I'm just about to start on my third book of hers so let's see how it stands up to this one , which I thought was a real page turner. I particularly like the short chapters, the formula works really well in fast paced suspenseful stories. Took one star off for the unlikely and a bit too sugary ending.
