London Abbott, head librarian of the Bronx Public Library, is determined to turn her reading initiative into a raving success. Adding the burden of a tag-along playboy trying to improve his tarnished image is a stressor London doesn’t need, but when a trusted friend calls in a favor, she’s saddled with bad-boy football star.

Ryker Christiansen never imagined his lucrative football contract would ever be at risk, but after too many nights of partying and blatant evidence of his wild escapades, he has no choice but to repair his tattered reputation or be terminated. Sent to New York to preen for the media and show his altruistic side, he’s committed to sitting in a Bookmobile with antsy kids, ornery seniors, and taking orders from one prim and proper librarian.

London expects to bring Ryker down a notch or two, even as he sets out to prove he’s more than just an overindulged athlete. When their slow-burning heat erupts into sexual flames, the intensity of the fire threatens to either destroy their hearts…or forge them together.

Casey Hagen is fast becoming one of my favorite authors to read. Her work combines deeply emotional stories with characters who have a snarky sense of humor that appeals to my own. I'm grateful to say that I can't relate to London's tragic childhood, but her prim and proper good-girl adulthood - that I can relate to. To watch her catch the attention and heart of the gorgeous football hero by being nothing more than her loving, giving self is kind of inspiring. And to see Ryker inspired to be a better man by spending time with London volunteering is a beautiful transformation to witness. It's not a long read but it covers a lot of ground and does it in a beautiful, uplifting fashion.

Insta love.
Would have liked it if the author would have fleshed out the characters.
Ryker's change of heart was a bit difficult to understand because his back story was just glossed over.
