Good hardware idea bad software
I really like the idea of hybrid watch. Basically what I need - "always on" real watch hands with some useful data on a screen, phone notificpadations and long battery life. But real life experience is not so great.I like the idea, design and appearance. Watch color is a bit darker grey, may be something like a gunmetal grey. The manufacturing has a couple of flows. The watchcase color has some gradient at the ring where the band is connected. Looks like high temperature application on a metal. It is hard to catch with phone, but from the photos you can get the idea. The lower part which looks toward a user is noticeable looking on watch. The security latch the part with "skagen" logo on it is not closed firmly and has some tiny slop. So the watch dings when you twist your wrist.Inner e-ink display either by its nature or because of some film as a top layer reflects a light in a different way. That is clearly seen when the source of light is reflected differently on glass and screen.E-ink is not that sharp as on rendered images but good enough anyway. The worst part is phone application. I would bet on low skills of development team. The user experience is not clearly thought. Some actions are implicit and something cannot be undone (or is hidden). Also they can't properly scale the application - just compare the features selection on my screenshot and from Fossil app sample screenshot. I see probably 30% of the part to choose screen face or feature/ring. They probably think everybody possess that 6.5"+ phones to fit everything that large, but wont be surprised if it does not work good on modern high res large screens too. A number of steps are unobvious and not properly thought. E.g. I was not able to return back a Skagen logo back to the screen once removed. Notification managed is spread through the whole app. And many other tiny issues. Turn on weather works a weird way for example. To enable it I need to put a ring on a screen and then double tap it and enable location permission.Watch software is more or less ok. One strange thing for me is all widgets removal functionality. Pressing lower and upper button simultaneously shows notifications. And also toggles all widgets on a screen. I still have not found exactly how to distinguish properly the widget toggle. Why only 4 widgets on a screen? I'd like to have more and there is enough space for it, if not use rings. And the major flow - I was not able to get a call notification. All other notifications works - ok, messages, "missed call", other apps, etc. But not the incoming call. I did whatever is possible in such situation - clear cache and data, reinstall, unpair watch, etc. Nothing helps. I tried another brand Android phone and did not get the call notification as well.Call notification does work with another watch brand (not a Fossil group one). And I did not mess both brands applications installed at the same time.I consider this a major flaw at the moment and give it 2 stars because of that. The application is for Android version 4.0.0.Update (after a month): The battery life is indeed 2+ weeks, the glass is easily scratched. For the price they could put a harder glass. If one visits barbershop and cafe only it might be ok. But wearing the whole day you do hit some stuff with the watch.Update 2: last photo, got a lot of fog exposed to direct sun.

The main watches build quality is absolutely solid. The leather strap included feels a bit cheap, but you can replace it. The buttons feel a biiiiiit weak. Hardware wise, thats all the cons there are. Sports tracking and sleep tracking along with Heartrate are surprsingly very accurate. Amazing battery life(lasts me 10 days with a full charge)

The screen is what sold me. The e-ink display is amazing. Makes the watch feel very classy. The sidelights are a bit ehh but i hardly ever use them.

The main drawback and the reason I'm knocking off a star is because of the companion software. The app which you use to customise the watch is crap. It used to be good but the new update has made it bad. The music controls are really bad now. The right hand mode is gone. The app UI feels ugly and hard to navigate(features are so hidden). Have to manually sync google fit.

I totally recommend this watch tho. For people who find full digital wear os watches too fancy and want a more classic watch with smart features, this is it!
