Purchased the gas attachment for our OONI 3 pizza oven for Father's Day. My husband loved it! Super easy to install (about 5 minutes) and worked perfect right from the start. So much better than burning the wood pellets, no black smoke and you don't have to keep adding pellets to keep fire burning.

I bought this along with an Ooni 3 oven. I've never used the wood pellets in it, so I can't compare.

But I can say this: the Ooni 3 + gas burner is an incredible combination. I have been making pizzas at home for a decade, and thought I had figured everything out. My mind has been blown open by how far forward the Ooni moves the bar. Temperature is everything, and this puts the heat right where it needs to be.

I've made close to 50 pizzas so far on about half a tank of gas. There are some great Napoli-style pizza restaurants where I live, but we've stopped going after having this much fun with the Ooni. Ingredients are inexpensive, dough is easy to make, and the flavor is fantastic.

Tip #1: With the gas burner, the pizza stone will be hot in 20 minutes. Measuring with an IR thermometer, it hits 880 degrees at the center of the stone. You might be tempted to put in your pizzas at 600 degrees, but don't! Wait the full 20 minutes if you want a fully-cooked bottom crust. (Otherwise, the top will be cooked but the bottom still a bit soft.)

Tip #2: If you slide the pizza all the way back, the top crust will get charred by the gas flames. There is still a strong temperature differential, and it is probably well over 1000 degrees at the far back. But if you center the pizza on the stone, then you should be safe. Just be sure to rotate every 30-40 seconds. 3 or 4 rotations and you're done.

REALLY enjoying the switch to propane. This allows us to EASILY do many pizzas consecutively. With wood pellets, after 2 pizzas the oven cools way down and it makes the 3rd pizza challenging and the 4th impossible. This gets the oven hot FAST and it STAYS HOT. Wonderful, easy, easy to install, easy to use. We have moved from using the Uuni sporadically to regularly.

I bought this for the karu 12 since it says it fits for it. For starters the screws wouldn't stay in place when I went to install it-- not big enough to fit the joint which made it loose. Beyond that the burner would light but than go out after only a few seconds. I read & tried all the troubleshooting & nothing worked. I had to keep re igniting the burner ever 10 seconds to get it to light or hold the knob in place for it go. Super disappointing given the pizza itself actually came out great.

While this thing works better with the big 20 pound propane tank, I prefer the little tanks for aesthetic and usability reasons, even though they cost 5 times as much.
I got to over 750 degrees (my laser thermometer claims not to go any higher than that although I've gotten higher readings) in about 10-15 minutes which is plenty hot to cook a pizza. The ease of use makes me want to use my pizza oven more, so I've got a brand new wood pellet burner in reserve. My friend who lives 2 blocks away bought the same oven I did, and is using the wood pellets, and as soon as this COVID-19 virus goes back to from wherever it came, we are going to get together and cook two identical pizzas using gas and pellets. I'll report back the results as far as taste goes.

The whole pizza oven sucks, thought I would try the gas option, but still cooks the pizzas unevenly. If you like your pizza bases tasting like dough and toppings burnt, then this is for you. Otherwise save your money and order a quality gourmet pizza.

The last couple of times we cooked pizza with the pellet burner some of the pizzas had a "chemical" taste that I believe came from the black smoke the pellets give off when really flaming up. That pushed me to the gas burner. We used it last night for the first time & I was really impressed with it & the pizza. It takes much longer to heat up to temp than the 10 minutes claimed, but no big deal. It made the entire process so much easier without having to constantly add pellets & trying to avoid the flare ups & smoke. While the idea of "wood fired pizza" is nostalgic, it's pellets! I'm left to wonder why the UUNI doesn't come standard with the gas burner & offer the pellet (wood fired) burner as the option. Or offer one version or the other. I'm certain we'll be using it more now.

Perfect addition to my uuni. Makes it much easier than trying to time the pellets.

I do find that I have to turn it down while the pizza is in the oven to prevent scorched toppings. I then turn it back up to reheat the stone in between pizzas.
