A Throwback to Charvel’s Glory Days

Hearkening back to the glory days when Charvel guitars were made exclusively in Japan, the Charvel MJ DK24 HSH 2PT Electric Guitar delivers scorching tone with dreamlike playability and resonant, durable tonewoods. Fitted with two Seymour Duncan humbuckers and a Duncan single-coil in the middle position, everything from ferocious solos to crystal cleans is within reach with a mere flick of a 5-way pickup selector. Accented with an eye-catching figured walnut top, the MJ DK24’s mahogany body produces incredible sustain and resonance. You’ll love the graphite-reinforced wenge neck topped with a silky smooth ebony fingerboard, perfect for shredding up and down the guitar’s 24 frets. The MJ DK24 is also outfitted with a Gotoh 510 tremolo and Charvel locking tuners, resulting in a comfortable, dependable, and versatile fire breather of an axe.

Top-notch tonewoods deliver exceptional sound and stability

Sweetwater guitarists took one look at the Charvel MJ DK24 and immediately knew one thing: this guitar sports some serious high-quality tonewoods. Mahogany is a mainstay for guitar bodies everywhere, possessing great sustain and resonance along with a warmer tone and fantastic high-end response. The sharp-looking figured walnut top adds a dose of character to this impressive instrument, and unique carves in the back and heel allow for comfortable access to the MJ DK24’s higher register.

Seymour Duncan pickups for searing tone

Sharp looks aside, the Charvel MJ DK24’s searing Seymour Duncan pickups are ready to bite. Switch to the Custom Seymour Duncan Full Shred SH-10B in the bridge and get ready to rip through rock and metal riffs, with a tight low end and scooped mids producing thick, beefy tone and excellent clarity. The Seymour Duncan Custom Flat Strat SSL-6 Single-Coil also delivers — flip over to the middle position and bask in its awesome power, which is punchy and bold enough for solos and single-note leads. The Custom Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro APH-1N in the neck rounds out the DK24, possessing the natural tone and softer attack ideal for rolled-off crunch and shimmering cleans.

First-class premium features

Brimming with premium features, it’s clear that the Charvel MJ DK24 was meticulously crafted down to the tiniest detail. The 5-way pickup selector offers a gamut of tones, making this guitar versatile enough for any genre and playing situation imaginable. Charvel-branded Gotoh locking tuners, paired with a Gotoh 510 tremolo, handle bends and dives with ease, providing you with rock-solid tuning stability.

Low key greatness

Short version: This is a great guitar that outputs a slightly smooth and rounded off sound

Long version:
Great build quality. Fret work is expected Japanese quality, which is excellent. The fit and finish is rock solid, I could find no faults. Frets are short and flat, makes playing buttery smooth. Despite the name of the pickups, they are slightly less output than the SD Hyperions on my AZ, and don't have as sharp of an attack. Naturally inclines towards fusion/prog/rock, but it's certainly capable of a wide range save for the extreme end of metal.

The overall quality and the sound makes this a quality buy. Definitely would recommend.

Fabulous guitar

I've owned many guitars, and I have to say this one has more mojo than any of the others, even much higher priced axes. The neck feels beautiful, smooth and easy to bend the strings. I'll admit that I switched the SD bridge pickup for a Tim Anderson HC3+, not because I didn't like the SD but I wanted a sound to match my other guitars, which are more my style with darker tone. Out of all my guitars, I play this 90% of the time and I play a lot. Never had a guitar that felt this good and it has truly inspired my playing.

jack of all trades

i've had the pleasure of playing around with this beautiful guitar for 3-4 months now.. and here are my thoughts.. one, the wenge neck is hard to play when hands get sweaty, and looks like its gonna take a lot of use to get it to that "creamy" "buttery" smoothness we all want to have. two, the pickups are medium output - they are very articulate and just excepitional tonaly - however i am getting better sounds thru a plug-in than i am thru a real tube amp and cab. let me rephrase - somehow i feel the combination of woods used in this guitar is not as resonant and bright as lets say an ash or alder body. it lacks a sizzle that is a must, for me at least, it needs to roar when its turned up. this little guy stops a bit short of that line. its not a volume issue - its the "sizzle".. three, the neck shape is awesome - truely wonderful to play. frets and round offs - you can tell its meticulously Japanese. four, the dinky shape is a great size especially if your sitting or slouching on a couch. fits everywhere and its not heavy. easy to pull on lap while standing. five, this beauty would have looked better with gold plate covered pickups. the whole thing would light up. i've decided to keep this because it serves great when im sitting at my console with headphones going thru an interface fiddling with technology - why, becuase between the three pickups and the tone knob - you have every sound from P90s to Single to Bucker to Distoriton. so, its my new work horse.. and the wood is harder and graphite secured so can take a beating. looking forward to getting years of good use from this guy. i knocked off one star for the "lack of sizzle" and one star for the price. its a jack of trades, no masters.. and definetely no puppets !! if you hear me brothers
