EDP vs EDT - Which one to get?
EDIT A FEW YEARS LATER AND A LITTLE WISER: While Dior did an amazing job with redistributing this perfume in different sizes, I would no longer buy any of Dior's fragrances, or any mainstream fragrances or cheap knockoffs as they are formulated with the word "fragrance" in their ingredients. For those who don't know, "fragrance" listed in ingredients is a catch-all term for thousands of chemicals that can be derived from dangerous things. Many of them cancer causing chemicals. Be careful of this deceptively simple word. Be careful of all extra labels: "clean, organic, cruelty-free, ewg verified," etc. You will never know what any product's "fragrance/parfum" really contains and it has been designed this way.IF that this information does not matter to you, here's my original review below, as I do appreciate the clever disguisement of chemicals to smell like real beautiful things in nature. Even if it all is dangerously synthetic.Let's just get down to business. I got my hands on both bottles by mistake and was able to try them out. I ordered from a high end department store (I hate fakes) and completely forgot about the concentrated version. So I bought this EDP directly from Amazon - not a private seller.First off, I really don't care if people don't think this is a ground breaking fragrance. It smells lovely. It takes the popular gourmand scent and makes into a slightly more sophisticated fragrance, there's nothing wrong with that. I also don't care for the marketing - which is rather tacky and too edgy for my tastes. But again, it's a lovely perfume. It's slightly sweet and almondy and if you actually let it settle, yes there's an orange/slight rosy note that blooms from the sweetness so it's not sticky and sweet. I know people have different skin types but there's definitely orange in this perfume; it's actually the heart of this fragrance if you let it settle on the skin long enough. A little orange in the beginning and a little orange throughout.Second, what is the actual difference between the EDP(eau de parfum) and EDT (eau de toilette) of Poison Girl? The bottles already look different. The EDP has an orange reddish color while the EDT is more light pink/purple. Typically EDP lasts longer than the EDT. There is however, a difference in scent. The EDT opens with an orange ice cream sorbet note. This smells *amazing* but like all good things, it comes to an end. After 2 hours it's gone and we're left with the lingering scent of the EDP. The longevity is less than the EDP, this means if you want your perfume to last the whole day the parfum version is a much better choice. Get while it's cheaper on Amazon because they're going to sell like hotcakes. But what's that? The opening notes of the EDT are really really really good! :(If you're into sweet/orange/creamy scents anyway. So what I would suggest is get the small bottle of the EDT and keep it in your purse. It's perfect for going out and will give you that extra orange burst for about 1-2 hours maximum. It's a very pricey alternative as you're paying a lot more per oz.Or you can be like me and just hope Dior comes out with a rollerball version of the EDT. I will buy that in a heartbeat.
