Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

But you can also take the light off of the mount to create a variety of effects. You can roll the light inwards towards a nearby spot or outwards to spread light all over. You can easily place it on the ground beneath a subject. Or tape it to the ceiling to reign light straight down. If it falls on someone, it won't kill them :) (but the power box will) The flat nature allows you to produce light from a large flat surface like couldn't before.
It produces a great amount of light, and the temperature range is good. The controls on the box are easy. You've got a generic display Falconeyes like to use ,but you also have two knobs. I recommend getting the Falconeye remote so that if you do something crazy like put it on the ceiling you can still control it.
I'm really happy I got this thing. It doesn't do everything a traditional light does, but it does so many things a traditional light doesn't it makes up for that.
The "x" bracket holds the mat very well - this works much better than I anticipated. It is quite taut when built. The light can easily be rigged, even with the softbox - it's very lightweight. It has a small baby spud that likes to get loose, so you have to often tighten it. There is an adjustable bracket with two baby recievers that is the right idea, but the tiny screws don't quite tighten down enough so it's a bit tricky sometimes to lock the light into the angle you want. I usually use a proper magic finger to do the same thing but stronger.
The softbox does the job well, but is only decent quality construction. The eggcrate is very shallow which makes it minimally useful, but it does help. A much better design would simply be a 1" deeper softbox and eggcrate.
The ballast seems to be decent quality but only time will tell. I added a 30' head feeder which is great for rigging the light overhead and controlling from the ground. The v-mount works fine and is a great feature. I don't understand how the light can be 150W and my (high quality IDX) 110W v-mount batteries seem to work to 100% - it should cut out at the battery max but doesn't, hmmm. Perhaps in battery mode the power is restricted, but it seems as bright. I will meter it next time I build it. The dials are nice (note the smaller units don't have dials, only the touchscreen). The touchscreen is okay - it is legible and works fine, but the touch buttons adjust fairly slowly. The dials are much easier to use. Presets on the touchscreen would be a nice easy touch, but don't exist now.
If you open the flap on the end of the light you can see exposed wiring that distributes to all the rows of LEDs. I would not let this get wet. It seems like the face could get wet - it's a clear plastic covering, but I wouldn't let any other part get wet.
I bought the optional remote, and it seems to work perfectly. The display is almost identical to the display on the ballast, so my only complaint is that it is fairly slow to move between settings - you have to hold and wait a bit while it moves through the range. Again, presets would be nice.
Now the bad, and the part that makes me question everything - the quality of the carrying case is absolutely terrible. On par with a $2 umbrella from Chinatown. The strap started pulling off at first use and didn't last 3 days without coming off completely. The inside has some sort of plastic lining that started flaking apart after 3 weeks and gets on everything - it's all over my shop. You seriously will be throwing away the bag within a month, leaving you with a bunch of pieces that are an awkward fit for any bag I have. Perhaps a padded bag made for lightstands would work. The quality is so terrible that I have doubts that the softbag will hold up, or that any sewn part will hold up.
I will update this review with photometrics when I get a chance.
So 5 stars for the light with the hope that it lasts for a while. And zero stars for the carrying case (should be negative stars). I'll give it 4 overall. It really is a nice light, I just wonder about longevity.

Well they both put out a very similar output of light, but the RX-18TD is just a bit smaller. This means I can easily fit 3 or 4 of these lights into one Tenba 1X1 LED Case like this https://www.amazon.com/Tenba-636-551-2-Panel-Case-Black/dp/B00MZCDEFY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1522990245&sr=8-1&keywords=tenba+1x1+led. In other words, I can roll up to a corporate gig lets say, with three RX-18TD lights in a tiny bag. I'm into that.
The bigger model (24TDX) does have some advantages like DMX control, so if you're mounting them in a stage and don't need to take them from place to place, the bigger models functionality might be better suited to your needs. For me it was all about portability, and in this case the few extra inches (with no noticeable light output difference) make the the RX-18TD the winner.

The only slight nagging thing is the X brace that holds the light is sometimes finicky to set up.
