About this ebook

Work brought them together, love kept them intertwined.

Four years after unimaginable tragedy, Agathe Santos knows that hope is for losers and so is love, and work has become her greatest escape. But even the world’s loneliest woman can’t hide forever…

Reluctant CEO Luke Tindall wants a wife, a family, a love that will last. He might have hired Agathe to save his company and deal with his goofy brother, but from the very first meeting, he has desired far more than her sharp wit and tireless work ethic. If only her past wasn’t such a big secret. If only that secret wasn’t a wound she didn’t want healed. Maybe then she’d share more with him than her body.

But even as Agathe can no longer deny her feelings for Luke, love is not something she thinks she deserves. Now she is left with an impossible choice: lose Luke forever, or lose the one thing that makes her life worth living.

The Last Heartbeat by Katerina Simms is a good, and enjoyable steamy slow burns work place romance read with heart. The story has a great story line. The characters are great, and they have great chemistry. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Loved it. The pace of this relationship is passionate but slow. A woman dealing with the loss of a child; a man crippled by the trauma he felt he caused a brother. No one follows a pattern for grief. One does not exist. Should not. Some have help and support and can recognize and accept it. Some have so much self loathing they cripple themselves. It takes a selfless, giving person to look with loving eyes and not give up on them. This was a great read.

This book has so much more than your typical romance. AS the blurb states, this is slow-burn, and it takes time to get to know the characters, who are both damaged in their own way. I loved Luke and Agathe's story so much that I was enticed to the next book. So far, this series just keeps getting better!

About the author

Katerina Simms is a contemporary romance author, RWA Emerald Award finest, and International North Street Book Prize semi-finalist. She was born on a sunny Mediterranean island, only to move to the weather-challenged suburbs of Melbourne, Australia.

Tea addict, nature lover, and terrible gardener, Katerina’s novels feature vivid modern settings and heart-stirring characters, punctuated with the occasional good laugh. Her romances skirt the edges of women’s fiction, and her favorite tropes are opposites attract, slow burn, and heat with heart.
