Publisher's Summary

In Tea and Scotch with Bradman, Perry paints an intimate and revealing portrait of the man many regard as the greatest Australian cricketer of all time.

In 1995, journalist and author Roland Perry wrote to Sir Donald Bradman requesting an interview for a biography he was planning of the great cricketer. Surprisingly, the Don agreed. It was the start of a conversation that continued for years, during which the real Bradman shone, not only as a great sportsman but as a musician, brilliant thinker and humorist with a fondness for tea and a Scotch or two.

A new insight into Bradman, the man

Being a cricket nerd I approached this book with moderate enthusiasm, wondering what could be said on the topic of Bradman that hasn't already been said many times over, Roland Perry exceeded my expectations with a measured and instructive story about the Bradman he came to befriend in the final few years of the great man's life. I especially found interesting the revelations about Bradman relationship with his son and the way Sir Donald dealt with his fame, recognition and constant requests for help or his opinion, even in the twilight years of his life.
