Publisher's summary

She needs to return to her time, but a medieval Highlander holds her heart captive.

While chaperoning a high school trip to the Scottish Highlands, Amy MacDougall descends into Inverlochy Castle dungeon. Deep in the crumbling ruins, she touches a magical rock and travels through time to 1307.

Infiltrating the castle, Highlander Craig Cambel imprisons Amy. A MacDougall, she’s his clan’s sworn enemy. But when he’s forced to marry the fierce beauty, he surrenders to desire. Amy needs to return to the 21st century, but her feelings for Craig are growing stronger every day. Will the pull of centuries divide them, or can destiny bind them across the ages?

Read by the award-winning narrator, Audie finalist, and Earphones for excellence in narration winner, Shane East and Emma Wilder, a classically trained actor and narrator who has worked all over the world on everything from steamy romance novels to Shakespeare.

Nice short story but...

It's a nice short story, but to me it would have made more sense if Shane East had spoken for the male portion of the dialogues and Emma Wilder for the female as opposed to them raising or lowering their voices for the female and male parts that they read for

Ok story, but one of the narrators seemed lackluster.

Story was pretty ok, but listening to Emma Wilder’s narration was pretty tough. She was sort of a monotone weepy with lack of depth to the character she was reading for. She was very weak in parts she should not have been and sounded on the verge of tears constantly. Shane East sounded more involved in his reading though. Not a bad story overall though.

A nice tale

For the most part I enjoyed the book. I like the story and the time traveling. The only issue I had was the Emma Wilder, the female reader. Shane East was absolutely great. The only problem I had with Emma is that she just seemed to be overly emotional, like she was going to break down and cry each time it was her reading. Didn’t really help me like the female lead much.

But overall I’m glad I listened to it.

Excellent time travel romance!

This was my first book by this author and it will definitely not be my last.
I really loved Amy and Craig's story. It was hard for them at first because he was not very trusting due to his past and she is afraid to tell him where she came from because of how he might react. Of course when they end up connecting and it's magical and romantic.
Emma and Shane do an amazing job with these characters making the story even more enjoyable.

Painful

Once again I listened to Emma Wilder perform, and again she presents the entire narration as if there is just oh so much anguish and it's kind of a whispered kind of talking and it comes across as practically the end of the world so much anguish in her voice for the story, only a lot of it should not be read and presented as heightened anguish. If she would simply narrated in her own voice and save the whispering anguish presentation for when it is actually needed, it would be much better. I did listen all the way through, and I enjoyed the story. I will say that Ms Wilder does a much better job on Scottish voices than Shane East does. Mr East should really stick with the British accent, he's horrible with a Scottish brogue. The story itself was enjoyable, after getting off to a broken kind of rocky start (not helped with the overly anguish presentation by Ms Wilder). Once we got past the first chapter or two, the story picked up and it was pretty good.

Not bad, Not good

Uninspired, tired, over done storyline. Scottish accents and pronunciation was definitely off. Have read better.

Interesting

The first third of this book I REALLY struggled with the female narrator, but boy did I fall in love with the MMC and that saved it. The last half of the book made up for the shaky start. The smut was delish and not tacky. Solid 3.75⭐️
