About this ebook

Kennedy

I stayed away.

Even though it crushed me.

Because that’s what he wanted.

I distanced myself from the man I love.

I moved on, or so I told the world.

Went through the motions, and smiled when I wanted to cry.

Then chaos flashes into my life, destroying everything in its path.

It’s time to face facts.

Lincoln Hayes is the only one I trust.

The only one who keeps the nightmares at bay.

Linc

I love her.

Thoughts of her came with every bullet that flew past my head overseas.

Every night, I dream about her and what we could have had.

She’s the only reason I came home.

The reason I stay, even though the very sight of her is torture.

After my brother died in my arms, everything changed.

I’m damaged. Broken.

She deserves so much more than I could ever be.

I’ll forever want the life I can never have.

That doesn’t mean that I won’t watch her six.

Boots on the ground, active and ready.

I’ll take out any threat she faces.

No matter the cost… because I’m not strong enough to lose her again.

The author pulls you into the lives of Linc and Kennedy and never lets go. They have a connection that is undeniable but each has baggage that they do not want to share with the other. Will their love be enough or are they destined to be alone? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Both Lincoln and Kennedy have past trauma that affects their present. One of hers still lives nearby and enjoys taunting her. Linc is worried about hurting Kennedy so he has avoided her for years, but is losing the ability to keep away. Nox is a little genius. Remy is a great brother. I love watching the families interacting. I like that the Balls to the Wall and Kismet stories continue here. I received a free copy of this book.

I have read several books by this author through ARC programs but not necessarily in order. Would recommend reading them in order so you would have a better idea of how all of the characters work together. The main families in this book are intertwined so at times it can be a little confusing. This is the story of Kennedy and Lincoln, who have known each other forever and were involved before Linc left for the Marines and to serve with her brother and other friends from Birch. With everything Linc has seen during his service he does not think he can be with anyone and therefore they part ways. Their feelings are still there but Kennedy tries to move on with a lawyer named Royal. There is some secrecy around why she breaks off that engagement and is now single. Both Kennedy and Linc need to heal from their past as they try to find their way back to each other. As with the other books in this series, there is plenty of action and suspense that keep you reading to see how Kennedy and Linc will get their second chance. **I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.***

About the author

USA Today Bestselling author by day and superhero by night, April spends her time split between real and fantasy worlds. While she writes across genres, her heart lives with Contemporary Romance that will tear her readers apart. She lives on the rocky coast of Maine, in the perfect place to visit the ocean but still live surrounded by the woods. Her son inspires her to write, demanding stories that he’s not allowed to read. As long as she has coffee, April can conquer the world… but she hates talking about herself in third person.
